This was the platinum selling lead single off Mariah's album Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel that came out in 2009. It's a midtempo and was rumored to have been about Detroit-based rapper Eminem and his fixation on Mariah. It peaked at #7 on the Hot 100 also reaching the top 10 in most countries around the world. To date it stands as Mariah's last top 10 on the Billboard Pop charts.
I used to love it at the time, but I've cooled off on it over the years. It's so addictive though and the other day I listened to it (as well as the rest of the album) and, in a way, re-discovered it. VERY catchy song.

It's an amazing song, period, and should have gone to number one. In fact, I was sure it was going to. Everyone flipped when this would come on at University parties.

I can't even believe this is Mariah's highest selling song in the digital era (disregarding "All I Want for Christmas..").
Following its chart run back in 2009 was fun. It kept growing and growing and had a long run, but it never felt overexposed which contributed to it not burning fast.

Really like this song more now than then. Just seeing her have success with songs like Touch My Body, Obsessed and most recently Beautiful its just rare and eye opening to see someone so prolific for so long still getting hits so late into her career. Plus it gave us this moment

It's aged like a fine wine and I appreciate everything about it (at the time, I thought it was just average). The video is one of her best and the lyrics are endlessly quotable and have an acerbic edge to them. She's such a strong writer and it's reflected in the diversity of her catalogue.

This song is quotable from beginning to end. It's still catchy.

I. Love. This. Song. And. Video.
She looked so good in it too, especially the scenes outside the Plaza hotel when she was carrying the bags.
This whole song is Mariah's shade at its finest.

I've never decided if I like the video's literal/directness or not. One one hand, I'm all for being direct. On the other, I'm probably a bigger fan of creativity/subtlety when it comes to shade (and visuals for a song in general, really). I guess I'll remain unsure of my feelings on this video and just enjoy the song.

It was alright. It's not a bad song, but it's definitely not among her best.

Not my favorite single from the album by any means. But it's super fun and quotable. It should have done better on the Hot 100.

This is her absolute worst song. The auto tune is atrocious, and her lyrics towards Eminem make her sound very immature.

Nowhere near her best, but it was nice to see her having a big hit 20 years into her career. This was arguably a bigger radio hit than "Touch My Body" but didn't have the benefit of the digital download being withheld until airplay was maximizing (which was commonplace for major lead singles just the year before). This may have gone #1 under if the same had been done.

Actually, I really loved this one.

What's weird is that the YouTube views for this dramatically decreased this year.
2016 average daily views - 53,173 2017 average daily views - 55,190 2018 average daily views - 25,716

Released this day a decade ago. Happy anniversary to the song that ended Eminem's career! 😁

Topic post needs to say “double platinum.”
This isn’t among my fave lead singles of hers, but it’s still a jam with some great one liners. I love that it’s had a revitalization. It’s impressive she had a top 10 hit almost 20 years into her career, and impressive that it’s now relevant again 10 year later.
