I'm definitely more of a Eminem fan than a Mariah fan, however this was a pretty good diss. Whenever Em would go after pop stars, they wouldn't really come at him the same way Mariah snapped back at Em. It was definitely an interesting time for music.

I listened to this for the first time in full recently (had only heard pieces of it up to that point) and was Obsessed with listening to it on repeat for the next couple weeks.

This song just gets better every year. I think it's a classic in her catalogue.

It has passed 99,800,000 streams on Spotify and will pass 100 million streams in a day or two. It will become Mariah's fifth song to have both 100 million Spotify streams and 100 million views on YouTube. (If you add streams for the remix this already has over 100 million streams, but whatever.)

I love how it's still well remembered. I loved this song. It was cool she had her "Blame It" moment(with the "oh, oh oh oh" instead of "a a a a a alcohol", and both auto-tuned songs were big hits) This single release low-key compensated for the mess they made by not releasing "Migrate" during the E=MC² era. Unfortunately, this revival of interest was short-lived. Beside the two AC tracks they tacked on to the end of the album, MOAIAwas an Urban album. Thus, promoting these two songs (especially IWTKWLI) as singles was a mistake imo. They should have released IWTKWLI only overseas. They messed up the UK release though. They thought IWTKWLI would the be big smash hit there so the "Obsessed" single release was cancelled at the last minute. Eventually, IWKWLI didn't do as well as expected there (#19 peak) while "Obsessed" peaked at #52 based on download only (which was impressive). At least IWTKWLI became a huge hit in Brazil. Nowhere near her best, but it was nice to see her having a big hit 20 years into her career. This was arguably a bigger radio hit than "Touch My Body" but didn't have the benefit of the digital download being withheld until airplay was maximizing (which was commonplace for major lead singles just the year before). This may have gone #1 under if the same had been done. I agree. They were not able to repress it like they did with "Touch By Body" so it was obviously harder to get a higher peak on the Hot 100 (same with "#Beautiful").

I love it. As much as I loved the uptempos on the prior album, some of them were light, fluffy, and too subtle. This reminds me of a beefed up "Migrate" with better vocals and lyrics, so it was very welcome as the lead single. The video is great too.
My only complaint is that it was an obvious dig at Eminem and could've been seen as a bit beneath her even though I think Eminem started the feud back up. However, the song has endured surprisingly well, and it does contain some of her wittiest lyrics.

This has endured way better than I'd have thought back in 09. Although it's not a #1 record, this fits well among her most well-known singles. She made a classic 19 years into her career. A queen!

Such a great debut single. It's also one of my favorite of her more urban uptempos.

Billboard just reported this has 301 million on demand streams, which translates to just over 2 million in sales. As of early 2014 it had sold 1.76 million downloads. It's surely at 2 million downloads by now, which would make it eligible for 4x platinum!

Where does this land in Mariah's overall catalogue if it's at 4x? I'm assuming behind WBT, ABMB and obviously AIWFC? Being top five would be super impressive.

Well, there's where her songs are currently at, and where they should be. In general the rankings would stay the same regardless, though. Here are her multi-platinum singles with where they are now, and where they should be: 1. "AIWFCIY" - 10x platinum (should be 12x platinum) 2. "We Belong Together" - 4x platinum (should be 5-6x platinum) 3. "Always Be My Baby" - 3x platinum (should be 4-5x platinum) 3. "Fantasy" - 3x platinum (should be 4-5x platinum) 3. "Obsessed" - 3x platinum (should be 4x platinum) 3. "One Sweet Day" - 3x platinum (likely 4x platinum) 7. "Touch My Body" - 2x platinum (possibly 3x platinum) 8. "Hero" - 2x platinum (possibly 3x platinum) 9. "#Beautiful" - 2x platinum (10. "Shake It Off" - currently 1x platinum but possibly should be 2x platinum)

All so impressive for a 90s artist. I can't imagine anyone would be close to this level from 90s or before except maybe Britney has some high certified tracks now? (Though I, always thought it was silly that they end up getting compared as 90s artists but are nearly 9 years apart).

Yeah I wouldn't quite group Mariah and Britney since the majority of Mariah's hits are from the 1990s while the majority of Britney's hits are from the 2000s. I haven't tracked Britney's stats enough to know where her singles should be, but they are surely under certified as for example "Toxic" hasn't been certified since 2004. Regardless, Mariah's stats are very impressive.

^ Ugh #Beautiful should've been a bigger hit, then we could've said she had big hits for 23 years!
Obsessed has become one of my favorite lead singles from Mariah! Such a hot track you can't help but bounce to and quote hilarious lyrics.
"You a mom and pop I'm a corporation, I'm the press conference you a conversation" has to be the best diss line ever

This song will always be on rotation. The fact that Eminem responded with a diss track(which I still have never heard), shows how much the Obsessed lyrics hit him where it hurts. Everyone says that Eminem won but I don't think so. She'll always be the last one standing.lol

I still Love this song. I believe I was fully into it from the beginning unlike “Touch My Body” which took me a few listens to get into. I loved her “Americas Got Talent” performance of the track. She had a decent amount of hype with this track and people were into the clever lyrics at the time. Then “IWTKWLI” came out and killed all momentum… I actually really like the track until the peak of the song when the chorus comes in. It just gets so loud in a way. Anyways the video for “Obsessed” was great and I liked the Gucci mix, but when the club mixes came out I was a bit disappointed. I liked the productions of them I just wanted new Mimi vocals. She was famous for that… However I grew to love them.
