Good bets? Maybe, but sure bets? Not at all. Recall that Lady Gaga also had her first two studio albums' debut singles reach the top, with Born This Way even debuting in the zone, and then the third album's "Applause" only reached #4. I know I'm ignoring the EP (Fame Monster) but I still think this is a comparably vague track record for Bruno at this point: he's elevated singles he's featured on to number one, but he only has two albums of his own to his name, so what happens from here really is up in the air.

No no, I'm saying Bruno's in the same position as Gaga was in 2013.
Anyway, hopefully this week we'll have a new top 10 as Work From Home retires and Don't Mind introduces itself outside the zone; I suspect Send My Love will easily land in the top 10 while Just Like Fire has a chance of rekindling.

The thing with Katy & Bruno is they will have massive first week radio to go along with their sales & streaming numbers, and that is why they're pretty much guaranteed at least top 5 debuts, if not #1s.
Britney only has a shot if the video goes viral.

I would like someone to collect the receipts from past threads for everytime somebody said a song they'd never heard yet was a guaranteed #1. OK, but we're talking Katy and Bruno, aka artists with perfect lead single track records and still plenty young and relevant enough to assume their huge success will continue. Again, the songs will have to suck hard to not be smashes. Also Gaga at the beginning of Artpop is a really bad comparison. She had ended the BTW era with a lot of public backlash and alienating a large part of the casual listeners that liked her. Bruno and Katy have done no such thing. And even still, Artpop was a definite hit despite not being a mega smash. So yeah, Katy and Bruno's songs have huge chances at #1.

I was serious about the receipts. If anybody has time I'd be curious to see how often people make these predictions.
In any case, I'd give a big thumbs up to the statement "Katy and Bruno have a good shot at getting #1 with their next singles," I just think nothing is ever guaranteed.

Britney is a huge superstar but I don't see her debuting at num.1 on the singles chart. Who knows with the perfect marketing etc but I see more of a top 5 debut for her. I feel like Bruno will and Katy has a chance. "Pretty Girls" was hyped up and didn't so.... Did the video come out the week of release????

Difference between then and now is Britney is more hyped up this time given BBMA's aftermath & its a better song that also includes a currently popular rapper, G-Eazy Compared to having Iggy at the worst time possible and Pretty Girls just being somewhat decent but pretty annoying fast.

^^I agree there feels like there's more hype this time around for Britney^^ However, sometimes visiting this board can make things seem a lot bigger than they are. lol Iv'e only heard 1 short clip so far and I liked what I heard. I'm routing for Britney I've loved most of her music since "Slave For you". I usually just liked the singles before that. I just don't think she will debut at num.1. I HOPE I'm proved wrong.
