This is incredible! Sia has been in the music industry for quite some time, and before the success of Chandelier and Elastic Heart, I would had never imagined her reaching the top ten, let alone having a number one hit! All of that time making music really paid off for her.

I'm glad Sia got the #1, but I hope a lot of competition comes. I don't want another long stretch without variety at the top.

Not topping any component chart, Cheap Thrills' no.1 is more "Cheap" than "Thrill", just like its quality as a song Wait, did she not top the digital sales component?

Wait, did she not top the digital sales component? Katy Perry's Rise blocked it. and it looks like Major Lazer's "Cold Water" might block it this coming week

Cheap Thrills is the best song to rise to #1 this year in my opinion, by far. Just putting that out there since opinions on the song are being thrown around. To me, my opinion hasn't changed, Rihanna's Work is the best #1 song of the year by far

I was gonna mention that, but that was less a pop revival move and more a nostalgia gimmick on the part of Jay (I mean, there's more than one reason the song is called "Do You Remember": Lil' Jon is on it too).

Finally a really good song tops the chart..... Congrats Sia!! And she looks set for a good run at #1 unless a high-profile song releases soon. Agree completely! Let the predictions for how long she will reign begin! 4 weeks top

Wow! I'm legit surprised Sia is #1, mostly because I've been a moderate to regular fan of her for about ten years now and I'd never have predicted she'd ever have a Hot 100 #1, from then up until a few weeks ago. Cheap Thrills is kind of a terrible song but I'm glad Sia made it to the top. Kind of feels like a personal victory.

Does this make her the third oldest woman to reach number one on the Hot 100, after Cher and Madonna? If so that really reveals the sexism/ageism of pop radio.

Which other women were older than Sia (Tina Turner was 45 when "What's Love Got To Do With It" reached #1, I forgot that)? Also, Sean Paul going to number one just proves my point...pop radio of course skews young but men in their late 30s/early 40s have reached number one much more frequently just in the past few years than women of that age ever have. Mark Ronson, John Legend, Pharrell, Robin Thicke, Wanz, Eminem, LMFAO...even Adam Levine, Justin Timberlake, and Flo Rida are getting long in the tooth now by pop star standards. The only women 35 and over who can even reach the top 40 these days are Sia, Beyonce, and Britney.

Still, pop radio is much kinder to men as they age than women. And it's gotten worse...the last woman over 40 to reach #1 was Madonna 16 years ago.

Glad Cheap Thrills hit #1 Send My Love staying in the top 10 is nice, hope it earns a new peak next week Solid debuts for Katy Perry and Britney, will it have longevity? We'll see Cold Water should debut high next week

But Rise is just a leftover, it's so obvious. It's what Just Like Fire is to Pink which I don't consider as "first single" either I disagree. On both counts. When you haven't had a single out in a long time, which is the case for both Perry and Pink, you don't put out a throwaway song. And you don't get Max Martin to write and produce it. They chose those songs because they expected them to be big and in the case of JLF it was. Rise could still do big business during the olympics, but I somehow doubt it.

She's not young and she is certainly not attractive, but she is extremely talented and quite unique. Makes a a VERY refreshing change from your typical female pop star. I don't like the song much, but love a lot of her other stuff - Chandelier really was the best pop record of 2014. I do regret that she has brought Sean Paul back - he is certainly better best forgotten.

Lowkey I think she's kinda cute lol. I still don't get why she usually hides her face. I get that she's going for a certain style but I still don't really understand why.

Lowkey I think she's kinda cute lol. I still don't get why she usually hides her face. I get that she's going for a certain style but I still don't really understand why. She doesn't want to be recognisable. I remember her saying in an interview that she was in a store with Chandelier playing and no one knew it was her. You can still look her up online, but I've realised from watching the React series on YouTube (when they try to break down lyrics of a song which they aren't given the name of), people aren't that familiar with stuff like that. In my opinion, the average person isn't going to look her up online just to see her, and even if they do, still doesn't mean they'll recognise her in person as most pictures are relatively old. It also stops the media from constantly judging her appearance.
