This track was released last year on Sweden's Nero Recordings. The main hook was provided by Errol Reid, and it was licensed throughout Europe (Flower Power provided a remix on the Italian release). Data Records licensed the track for the UK and was supposed to released it earlier this year, however it didn't happen. Data decided that vocals were needed for the track to cross over. The track, now with new vocals, has finally been completed and the new mixes have just been serviced. This could be this year's "Lola's Theme".

I have to admit that I'm disappointed with the video.  Neither Axwell nor Tara McDonald appear on the video... a shame, since both Axwell and Tara are totally hot.







Amazon UK and HMV UK list the release date as August 1, while Data Records lists it as August 8.  The single will be released on Enhanced CD Maxi Single and Vinyl Maxi Single.

It's a hard life for singers in dance music. If they had chosen a moody indie group to front they would be lauded as talented superstars. Instead they are slated by purists for being the ones to add stupid vocals to otherwise perfectly good tracks. The haters say it doesn't matter anyway because they are all just air headed blondes. Are they just being cynical or is it true?

We decided to go on a mission to find out and ended up talking to the vocalist on Axwell's 'Feel The Vibe' - Tara McDonald. Blonde? Yes. Bubble headed? Certainly not.



Hi there Tara, you are the voice behind Axwells latest buzz track - 'Feel the Vibe'. What's the Swedish producer like to work with?

I co-wrote the melody and lyrics for 'Feel the Vibe' with another writer called Tom Kent. When I was given the track I was really excited as the instrumental was so strong. We then sent the track over to the record company who passed it over to Axwell. I still haven't met Axwell as he's based in Sweden and I'm in the UK, but we should be meeting up soon - apparently he's very cute.

Have you worked with any other big producers?

I've worked with Planet Funk and sang with them on MTV's Ibiza dance festival along side Basement Jaxx and Faithless. That was an amazing experience. Those guys are great. I also worked with Jagz Kooner (Primal Scream) and sang on 'Butterfly Caught' a Massive Attack remix. That was really cool.

Tell us a bit more about your background. Is it true you have been performing since you were a child?

Yes that's true, I started working as singer when I was 9 years old in the musical Les Miserables and I've been working ever since. I've backing sung for Eric Clapton, Ringo (the Beatles), Roger Taylor (Queen), I've sung for the troops in Iraq, Kosovo, The Falklands and Bosnia. I went to the Brit school in Croydon and studied music, it was there that I realised I wanted to become a singer/songwriter.

Are you a house music fan yourself?

I love dance music, I especially love especially funky house with soulful vocals. I grew up listening to 'I Wanna Give You Devotion', N-Trance and Ultra Nate. I also love Basement Jaxx and the Prodigy. They are such great bands and have so much energy live. When I'm round the house I play loads of different music; Zero 7, Sigur Ros, Rolling Stones, The Beatles and I'm a sucker for great songwriters like Carol King.

You are going on the Big Tunes tour to sing 'Feel the Vibe' live around the country. What's it like doing a live PA in a club?

I did my first PA on Saturday 25 June in a club called Platinum in Jersey, it was brilliant, the crowd were really up for it, it felt strange though just singing one song for 3 minutes. It took longer for me to get ready.

A lot of purists are not keen on vocals on dance tracks, but most tunes that have chart success these days are songs with a verse/chorus. Why do you think vocals are now an essential part of a tracks success?

I think having a vocal on a track helps people to relate to a song and gives over a message on a personal level. I always want to hear the lyrics and know what someone is trying to say. When I get a new CD I always look at the lyrics first.

What are the best and worst parts about being a singer?

I have to say that I love my job and I knew when I was a little girl that I wanted to sing. I don't think there's anything else I can do! The best bits are travelling (to an exotic location), I've been around the world and have stayed in beautiful hotels and met interesting people. The worst things are the travelling (being stuck on the M4 in traffic), waiting around for hours to do something and working very unsocial hours. However, I wouldn't change a thing.

Lastly, what about future plans?

I'm working on my own project which musically is very organic live instruments and heartfelt honest lyrics, I always seem to write about my experiences as life constantly inspires me - even the bad stuff. I've also got a couple of house tracks in the pipeline which I've co-written and am keeping my fingers crossed for.



There we have it: Not a bubble in sight. Proof that should start giving more recognition to those hard working vocalists.

Well, the single was released this past Monday in the UK, and according to the midweeks, it will most likely miss the Top 10.

What a shame! This is one of the best dance records of the year, and yet we have Crazy Frog's "Axel F." staying at the top of the charts for weeks! >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

A real shame this missed the Top 10...  It deserved the No. 1 slot.  If the freaking Crazy Frog and the lamer-than-lame James Blunt can both go to No. 1, surely Axwell deserved it as well.
