Don't Know Why (Live at the Newport Jazz Festival 2016) Norah Jones has announced the October 7 global release of Day Breaks, her stunning sixth solo album which is a kindred spirit to the singerโs breakout debut Come Away With Me and finds the 9-time GRAMMY-winner returning to the piano and her roots. The album features jazz luminaries including her Blue Note label mates saxophonist Wayne Shorter, organist Dr. Lonnie Smith, and drummer Brian Blade on a 12-song set that presents 9 new originals alongside covers of songs by Horace Silver, Duke Ellington and Neil Young. โThis new album feels full circle because I'm going back to my early influences," says Norah. "After the first record, I drifted away from the piano a little bit. I still played it, but was more inspired to write on guitar. I really loved playing piano on this record.โ Watch the video for "Carry On," the album's first single which features Norahโs signature piano sound. Fans who pre-order the download of Day Breaks on the Norah Jones Store, iTunes or Amazon will receive "Carry On" instantly, and the single is also on all streaming services including Apple Music and Spotify. Day Breaks is available for pre-order in all formats at the Norah Jones Store and Amazon. A special 180-gram orange vinyl version of the album will also be available from Barnes & Noble, as well as a deluxe CD version featuring 4 live bonus tracks that will be available at Target. โNorah Jones has a way of being there when you need herโฆ a warm, honeyed voice, right up against your ear, AutoTune-free and honest,โ wrote the Boston Globe in a rave review of Norahโs first-ever Newport Jazz Festival performance this past Saturday in front of the festivalโs first sold-out audience in over 25 years. Norah also became only the 4th artist in history to perform at both the Newport Folk and Jazz festivals in the same year. Norah has also announced Fall tour dates in North America and Europe including concerts in Los Angeles (Greek Theatre, October 25) and New York City (Beacon Theatre, November 29). Ticket pre-sales for the North American tour dates are now underway and fans who pre-order Day Breaks in any format at the Norah Jones Store before Sunday at 11:59pm ET will have access to the best seats in the house while supplies last. General tickets will go on sale Friday, August 12. Visit norahjones.com for ticket info. Can't wait for the album. She really set the bar high with "....Little Broken Hearts" but so far "Carry On" sounds promising. She needs to come to ATL though

Not super thrilled about this album seeing her return to her roots since The Fall and especially Little Broken Hearts ("Miriam!") were sending her in a direction I really enjoyed, but "Carry On" is nice enough that I'm still optimistic.

I adore her debut album and still listen to it at least weekly, so this news plus my first play of Carry On excite me very much!

The Fall was her masterpiece. I loooved the video for Carry On, so in a way it made me like the song. Without it, I would say the song is just a nice song, with nothing to offer.

Another solid album from her. My favorites are Burn, It's a Wonderful Time for Love, And Then There Was You, Sleeping Wild, and Fleurette Africaine (African Flower).

Burn Flipside And Then There Was You Once I Had a Laugh Sleeping Wild Carry On
Although I did enjoy the bluesier and rockier vibes of her last two albums, I will admit this one is such a smooth, soothing listen.

Always love her albums. I can't help but feel this one is gonna underwhelm, sales-wise. She's consistently sold less and less with each album so I won't be surprised. #4 on iTunes currently.

Always love her albums. I can't help but feel this one is gonna underwhelm, sales-wise. Jazz music ain't popular so...at least she's staying true to her artistry. The album is great so I'm happy! I don't care about the album sales...and I think she doesn't care too :)

The success of her first albums has always been astounding to me and admittedly I've never checked the bulk of her music out. I plan to though.

She has 3 songs from the new album streaming on Spotify, plus a best of playlist she created. The album should be on there soon I imagine.

The success of her first albums has always been astounding to me and admittedly I've never checked the bulk of her music out. I plan to though. Formation, feel free to totally disregard my unwarranted opinion but you must check her out! Each album is an interesting collection and has a distinct and individual sound. May I suggest my two favorite tracks from each album that I think fully show off her theme of each? Come Away With Me: (soulful, piano based jazz) Seven Years Painter Song Feels Like Home: (must be listened to indoors, preferably a rainy day and alone! {Puff puff if you do, soft piano and light strings}) Those Sweet Words The Prettiest Thing (my favorite NJ song) *Bonus: Creepin' In (ft. Dolly Parton) Not Too Late: (strings, experimental themes) Broken Sinkin Soon (I think she meant this song about our country, but had a cute interview where she said she just wants people to apply their own emotions to her songs and enjoy them as they apply to hem selves. So relationships!) The Fall (guitar!! Total departure!!) You've Ruined Me It's Gonna Be Little Broken Hearts (synths, a little ethereal, honestly can't think of the right word, more production and almost a radio quality to her voice- farther away?) She's 22 (omg so good!) All a Dream *Bonus (Happy Pills) lead single and upbeat Let me know if you like any of these. I really love Norah. She didn't have much of a hand in writing her first album, and the rest are almost entirely written by her! I love it! Thanks for reading.

Wow, I listened to Day Breaks, and it's easily her best album! Never thought she had it in her to create such a delicate and perfect album <3 Definitely in my top 5 albums of this year.

Great choices (although Miriam deserves an honorable mention). What would be your two picks from the new album?

Debuts at #2 with 47k SPS (44k sales). Oddly enough, it debuts at #1 on the Jazz Albums chart and is only her second #1 album on that chart.
