I'm someone who, admittedly, doesn't visit Pulse all that much outside of the Alt/Rock forum, but it's hard not to know who Josh is. Even as someone who's not a frequent Pulse member, I know that Josh was important to this forum and to so many of you. Just judging based off of some of the posts I have seen of his, I can tell that he was funny, caring, and a source of joy in a world where it seems like there's less and less joy to be found. It always hurts to see someone cut down at this early of an age, especially with someone so full of life.
I offer my condolences to those who have been lucky to know Josh personally. I can't even begin to imagine how difficult it has been to process this news.

It feels so weird posting here without Josh. I'll never get used to this.

Wait WHAT?! :(
I can't believe this at all! Literally mind-blown right now!
I first knew of him in pulse big brother 3. He had a good sense of humor and was a very nice guy. I'm glad I got to compete in games with him before his unfortunate passing :( Strong competitor in the games community here from what I've seen. RIP Josh! I'll miss you :'(

I haven't been on Pulse much recently (a little lurk now and then), but Josh was one of my few friends--especially on the Games board and the Now That's What I Call Music CD Survivor Games (I think he started the first 10 games in the NOW series, and only like Volume 4 finished).
My most sincere condolences to all the lives touched, whether family, friends, and of course PULSE.
RIP Josh.

A year ago, Pulse lost one of its most enjoyable, colorful members in josh. I knew this anniversary would be hard, but I didn’t realize how hard. I thought josh and I would be friends for years to come. I can’t imagine what Pulse must be like now without him; there’s hardly a section in Pulse that he didn’t touch, often delivering pointed one-liners in his usual, uncapitalized prose. I loved the variety of things he stanned for, whether that be Shane Filan, Big Brother, or Pokemon. His personal chart notoriously had an algorithm to calculate gold and platinum certifications. In the games sections, I have fond memories of scheming together - making the Sesame Street Theme Song a Danger Zone winner; creating a goofy mafia set-up, or getting annoyed when we voted against each other’s songs in Madness tournaments. When he was out sick once, he asked me to run the new music poll in the opinion section for him – even ill, he was thinking of Pulse. Gave me all these detailed instructions to do it. Suffice to say, he loved this community dearly. I became close to josh during the first Big Brother and it was a rare day we didn’t talk. When I particularly miss him, I am grateful that I have our PMs to go back and read. And laugh. And cry. I see silly discussions – like the fact that he was allergic to stuffed pangolins, but not any other stuffed animal. Shady discussions; serious ones –they are all there in his quirky and kind way. We chatted almost to his last day. His last email to me was in response to me complaining that Carly Rae Jepsen was about to debut on his chart yet again ; “ carly is queen; you will deal ” he wrote. That was it – haha, but I can’t tell you how many times I’ve looked at that email. Anyone who says an online friendship is somehow less valid than those in person was certainly not friends with Josh. He taught me so much about what that means – lessons I will always carry forward. I know those who were close to him feel the same way. For those who never knew him, I hope that you meet someone who enriches your life the way josh did mine. I notice that Pulse is still stuck on 2015. That annoyed Josh to no end, because he was anything if not obsessive about those kinds of details. (Once, he noticed that a shade of green in my chart post was slightly off) It still being 2015 it makes me giggle. I’m glad it’s still like that as I think of Josh when I see it. And how I wish I could have Pulse 2015 back! That’s when I had the best friend on Pulse you could ever hope to have. Kind, humorous, smart - he was my touchstone. I am going to stop here because this is a Cynthia like wordwall already and I am starting to get hysterical. Josh, I can’t tell you how much you are missed. Thank you so much for your friendship. It meant more to me than you will ever know. --- Jeff
