Katy Perry: I Kissed a Girl -> California Gurls -> Firework -> Roar Shawn Mendes: Stitches -> There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back -> Señorita I don't know about Katy. I still think "Firework" is her signature song. Her biggest hit chart-wise is "Dark Horse" though, so I think it should be given greater consideration than "Roar". Also, please humanity, let "Señorita" be forgotten and keep the wonderful "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back" as Shawn's signature hit. I'm a least hoping his next era will spawn a better #1 hit for him, especially after "If I Can't Have You" was robbed.

I’ve always seen Be The One as Dua Lipa’s signature song, maybe it’s because I don’t live in the US though. Either that or One Kiss.

I feel like Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now has thankfully overtaken We Built This City in terms of songs people associate with Starship

I was surprised to find out on Spotify that Thrift Shop has 585M streams but Can't Hold Us actually has 1B streams. I guess Can't Hold Us is more iconic than Thrift Shop now

There are posts four days apart that disagree about the older signature song and newer signature song. I agree with the second person for both. Aren’t those her 2 biggest hits? I think Fallin was her previous one and Empire State of Mind is her new one. Even though it wasn’t as big as No One, I think Empire State of Mind is definitely more iconic and remembered.

^I'd say "If I Ain't Got You" is Alicia's signature song (at least internationally). It's true that it wasn't her biggest hit when it first came out but thanks to the countless amount of people covering the song on talent shows certainly elevated its status to become her signature hit.
In regards to "Empire State of Mind", I feel like people still see it more as a Jay Z song rather than hers - unlike "Uptown Funk" where people associate it more with Bruno rather than Mark Ronson himself.

I’m not sure about the US, but in the UK that feels like her signature song

Top 10 in several European countries yet barely scrapped the top 50 in the US and Australia/NZ.

I think Alicia is probably a case of different songs achieving varying levels of success in different parts of the world. In my country her best known songs are definitely ESOM and Girl on Fire.

I remeber her performing it on a few TV shows around the same time the Jay-Z version was playing on the radio, but I don't recall it actually getting the single treatment.

Yeah I think that's true. Over here in Asia, "If I Ain't Got You" has always been THAT song. It's a cult classic. And to a lesser extent, applied to "Listen" by Beyonce as well at some point although some might argue that "Halo" has taken over it in Asia.

Also it's funny to me that some of Beyonce's most well known/signature songs in Asia are mostly her mid-tempos & ballads while it's completely the opposite in the States. Edit: Did a quick search of her name on Google Trends in several Asian countries out of curiosity, and it's safe to say her top songs are "Halo", "Listen" & "Love On Top" - in that order.
