Kurt would you consider adding a "Duplicate chart" tool to make it easier for us to post our charts? This could really help since we would just switch the songs to their new positions and add the debuts/re-entries. Coming with the new site!

I came up with an idea a while ago but I didn't think to post it here until now.
Is the #1 = 10,000 points bound-to-the-chart-position ranking system going to stay or could their be a new ranking system which allows users to rank (from 0.1 to 9.9 or 10.0) how much they like a song specifically, making the song not bound to the chart position users put it at, therefore the fact people have weaker #1s on certain weeks than they do on other weeks is considered. There are times where people may have weaker number ones on some weeks, so having that song being treated like a stronger #1 even though it's not liked as much by the user, means it could be more accurate if the system allowed a specific ranking where the user could rank from 0.9 to 9.9 how much they liked a song. The chart positions on a user's chart could be effected by this ranking (it would have to be, in order for it to be very accurate.)
I'm curious what you think of this idea, Kurt. I believe it would make the charts more personalized, and the leaderboards will line up more with what the user really liked during that time. The gist is the chart positions could be ranked based on the personal ranking of a song the user liked that week, rather than the other way around, where the song points are bound to a chart position like they are now.
This website you created is a good one. I'm excited for the future updates!

I finally posted a new chart to Crownnote! crownnote.com/charts/themaxonline/shuffleplay-40-32I couldn't find "Power" by Ellie Goulding tho so I had to make a new entry.... I'm wondering if the search function will be reworked to be able to include artist names in there. Like, by searching "power ellie", it would reduce the number of options presented (as there are a lot of song titles with 'Power' in the title). I'm going to try to go back and add charts for the year too. I don't like seeing the "new" next to every song... lol EDIT: I'll go back and edit Power using the ID number that I'm sure can be found with the song's position on the Crown 100 - since I'm sure the song is charting EDIT 2: I presume the ID is 222382 but it isn't showing in the search. I'll leave it for now.

This website you created is a good one. I'm excited for the future updates! Oops, I guess I didn't address this one yet despite having read it. I have it on my list to investigate the possibilities of custom points systems β whether that's someone's point system that they want to reuse each week, or one that they adjust week-to-week β but I have to think pretty considerably about all the implications that creates. I think regardless, Crownnote would keep its own points system so that I have a single system to work with for Crownnote-specific charts like the Crown 100 (I want more, but other than an album chart, things like genre and major vs. indie charts bring their own sets of implications, lol), then you'd get an additional option for your own setup. That's on my radar, but pretty far in the distance at the moment. I finally posted a new chart to Crownnote! crownnote.com/charts/themaxonline/shuffleplay-40-32I couldn't find "Power" by Ellie Goulding tho so I had to make a new entry.... I haven't figured out the optimal solution yet β what you've proposed with searching by artist is what I'm hoping will work β but I won't be launching the new version of the site until it's figured out. If you're going back to add a set of old charts, I'd recommend starting with the oldest first β otherwise, you'll have to keep resaving the newest charts so that they correctly calculate data based on the previous week. (That problem should go away with V2 of the site too, but I'm not quite in the development process yet where I've confirmed that.)

I added in the first chart of 2020 into Crownnote. I might wait for the update to come to continue because that "duplicate" feature would be extremely useful in uploading old charts!

Kurt - do you know why there are two different pages for The Chicks?

Kurt - do you know why there are two different pages for The Chicks? Looks to have been a side effect of the name change (the first one was originally Dixie Chicks, the second was The Chicks). I've updated albums/songs and deleted the second artist. (I'm sure there are duplicate song entries for at least "Gaslighter" and "Julianna Calm Down" that I'll merge...eventually...as part of the site updates.)

Okay so I found out if I just type out the song in the same format it's supposed to show as and include the ID number in brackets, it does make the connection after I save it. Probably common sense but I didn't think of it until now. So I was able to link Power from this week's chart to the same entry as last week's.

I already made my top 10 favorite songs of all time chart from September 2019 - July 2020.
The problem is I want to make a whole different chart based on my favorite songs I heard on the radio each day. I put in a new title, and I put the data in for today but it saved the peaks from my top 10 favorite songs of all time chart.
How do I make a completely new chart? Thx.

I'd recommend saving your '19β'20 chart as a No Points chart, since it extends over more than one week and thus shouldn't have its points toward the Crown 100. That will also exclude it from being part of your charts' peak and week calculations, so your daily charts' data will be accurate.

So, now the top 10 favorite songs of all time chart doesn't show the peaks and ups and downs and stuff like that. I'm trying to make a completely different chart with peaks and everything. Do I have to make another account to do that.
Also btw, thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it, and I think your website is awesome.

Hey Kurt...I would like to chart the 7" Jackswing mix of Mariah's Someday, in honor of the MC30 release. I only see the unplugged version there, which I will use as a placeholder for now...

I just had a look at the sitewide top 100 and the amount of K-pop on there is kind of terrifying. The Twitter K-pop stans know this chart is meaningless to the industry, right?

I really want to introduce a chart akin to Billboard's Heatseekers chart (or whatever it is that would essentially include non-major-label artists, or at least those who haven't been on the Crown 100 before), and something similar to genre charts (genres are just...really complex and messy in general) β I just need to figure out all the technicalities involved.

Hi Kurt! I've been a really enthusiastic user for several years now, and Crownnote (or CrNo as me and my best friend, who is also an avid user, refer to it as) is a huge part of my weekly schedule and has completely revolutionized my own chart-making habits. So, thank you for all your hard work! I'm a huge fan.
I see you're going to launch V2 which is HUGELY exciting, honestly. I'll be anxiously awaiting the launch! I see some things like modifying the song search bars to include artists are coming which is great news. I have a couple of questions that I think you've answered partly, but just to be sure: you mentioned above when discussing The Chicks that their duplicate song nodes will merge when V2 arrives; will this be the case with all the songs I've flagged as duplicates over time? That's one of the things I think has been a little frustrating to me, that flagging songs with incorrect points or duplicate nodes does... nothing, really. Will this be solved in the new version?
OK, and this is kind of silly but also a feature I would like, if that's possible (it actually came to me in a dream and when I woke up I was massively disappointed it wasn't reality, haha. This kind of shows how much I think about Crownnote!). So, I was thinking of how many artists have albums with a few versions (deluxe, re-releases, etc.) and while the rules of the site state each album should include all versions in the main node, would it be doable to sort of nest the alternate versions inside a parent album? I wouldn't quite know how this would work, but I know some streaming services have this sort of organization as a way to declutter artist pages.
Thanks for all your hard work! I love Crownnote so much.

Hi Kurt. I uploaded my new chart (late) last night and noticed there wasnβt an entry for the new (old) Lissie song. Was I really the first one to chart it? Have you moved on from the wonderful Lissie?

Taking a week off work after US Labor Day...but I'm not going anywhere and am just going to work on this instead of client work all week. Shrug! Hi Kurt! I've been a really enthusiastic user for several years now, and Crownnote (or CrNo as me and my best friend, who is also an avid user, refer to it as) is a huge part of my weekly schedule and has completely revolutionized my own chart-making habits. Hello and thanks! Glad you like Crownnote so much that you dream about it, haha. Yes, my plan and hope is to merge all of the pending flagged-as-duplicate songs before I import them all onto the new site, to clean everything up. I don't think I'll ever fully solve the ability to create duplicate songs, but some of the upcoming and planned changes will hopefully help. I haven't gotten to the point where I've confirmed it just yet, but I do think incorrect points (e.g. them being doubled when an additional album or artist is added to a song) will become a thing of the past. I've been loosely pondering that alternate-versions idea too, because it'd also make compilation charts like the Crown 100 easier for me to prepare each week. No solid plans around it yet, but something I've been thinking about, at least. Hi Kurt. I uploaded my new chart (late) last night and noticed there wasnβt an entry for the new (old) Lissie song. Was I really the first one to chart it? Have you moved on from the wonderful Lissie? No! Probably debuting it this week. :)

Kurt, I put in some older charts today from 2018 and even after saving them all repeatedly, the weeks aren't registering (so it will say up 4, but still only lists 1 week on the chart). Is this an easy fix? I don't want to keep adding charts now if I'm going to have to re-enter them later. I'll hold off adding anything new until I get an update.
Edit 1: 2.5 hours later, it seems the current and NEXT chart are off (Dec 1, 2018 would be the first week for all 100 songs listed, but then the Dec 8 chart shows movement of songs (up 4 etc) but the weeks and peak reflect the Dec 8 chart (1 week on, peak wherever it is that week), but now the Dec 15 and 22 charts are correct (so Dec 15 shows the song is in 3rd week with correct peak). All the December charts have been wacky like this all day. I've saved and resaved all of them multiple times. So it seems like it's fixing itself, but the two most recently added charts are the ones that remain messy.
Edit 2: 7 hours later, it has apparently fixed itself :)

Not sure if someone here asked or just on Twitter, but: when the new site launches, dropouts will automatically display at the bottom of the chart. Please enjoy my test content: Also spent some time this week working on Last.fm and Spotify imports. Not quite there yet, but I've made some headway. This probably happened because I adjusted some cache settings earlier this week in an attempt to keep the server from crashing. That means some of that data probably isn't refreshing instantly. (The good news is that the new site won't have those problems!)

Eeeek, all your little teasers are making me itch to get a look at CrNo 2.0! I'm dying for it to come out :) Any idea about when we can expect it? I'll try to stay patient!

I was originally aiming for August/September, but work (I'm a web developer by day too) got in the way for a while, and I have a freelance project now aiming for a pre-election launch, so this is probably looking more like November at this point. But here's another teaser in the meantime from some work I did this weekend: if a song peaks at #1, its weeks-at-#1 count will now appear next to the peak.
