First of all, congrats Portugal! Still not a big fan of the performance, but the song is really good. And it's Portugal's first win, so I'm kind of happy (and bitter) that they won!
I wish Italy/France/Denmark/Belarus had done better (didn't expect much from Belarus or Denmark but still), but I was so happy to see Moldova in 3rd place (didn't expect them to go that high)!
Seeing Bulgaria achieving their best rank ever two years in a row is also amazing too! Two consecutive amazing songs in a row (following Poli Genova from last year)!

I saw on Wikipedia the results of the semis are up.
Australia qualified 6th in our semi. Greece scraped through at 10th. Anja also just scraped through at 10th in the second semi-final.
Moldova placed second in Semi 1. Portugal and Bulgaria won their respective semis by a landslide.

Spain and Germany weren't even trying this year. Both deserved what they got.

It was a very poor year, only a handful of decent songs. Portugal won for the simplicity and earnestness, but I don't think the song will have any kind of life outside of the contest. Like last year's winner Jamala.
I don't get Bulgaria's success: terrible song, dire singing. I thought Italy, France, Norway, Australia and Portugal were good to decent. The only performance and song that I would want to watch again is Italy.
Okay, Sweden was sleek, but kinda off putting.

I don't like the song (in fact it's one of least favourite winners ever), but I gotta hand it to Portugal. After 50 years they finally earn their first win. I wish the UK had done better in the televote. Another top 5 finish for Sweden! Italy really underperformed compared to the hype. Maybe I jinxed Italy by visiting their embassy in DC yesterday while the contest was going on. OTOH, I did set foot in Portugal for the first time ever this year (even if it was only a few hours' layover and lunch at the Lisbon airport.)

I don't get AT ALL what people see in Denmark on these forums. Horrifyingly cliched song and Anja overdid it so badly
I'm happy with these results, even Moldova grew on me

Yeah, this has been trash the past 2 years and not good trash either. Last year was a political win. This year was a sympathy win b/c he's has a heart condition and the song was written by his sister. Eh, I'm not even sure I'll watch it next year. I guarantee there will be EVEN MORE soppy, boring ballads next year.

Ehh there's always been soppy boring ballads in Eurovision. I think there's more to this contest than the winner. There will be always be a handful of songs I quite like each year, and that's enough to watch. The voting results are always exciting to watch too, even if it isn't the outcome I want. That's just how it goes sometimes. But on the plus side, it's actually pretty rare for back-to-back winners to win for the same reason.

When I was a youngster, I used to skip the songs, and just watched the voting! Really didn't like Portugal's song at all, I found it to be incredibly uninteresting and dull, but at least it was a new winner. Shame the UK song didn't fare a bit better. It was nothing incredible (no songs were this year) but deserved better, as did the French song. The Moldova song grew on me as the week went on and glad it was up there. Was definitely my favourite in the Top 5 - not that it is saying a great deal!
