Singles: "Push It," "I Think I'm Paranoid," "Special," "When I Grow Up," "The Trick Is to Keep Breathing," "You Look So Fine," "Temptation Waits" I've been listening to this pretty obsessively over the last couple of weeks. Any other #garbagecollectors on Pulse?

Probably one of my most played albums of the 90's. And definitely one of my favorite alternative albums of the 90's. It's like an album full of career highlights basically. And that's no knock to their other albums, there's just so many good songs on it.

Celebrates its 20th anniversary today! They'll be touring the States in support of a reissue that includes a bonus disc of B-sides (out June 22) in the fall.
This and Ray of Light were two of the first albums I ever picked out for myself, from a BMG catalog. I was like eight years old at the time so I don't think I even knew who they were and probably only chose it because I thought the cover was cool lol but I didn't appreciate it (or ROL for that matter) until I revisited it during my late teens.
I got to see them live last summer – they hadn't toured anywhere in Florida in, what, 15 years? Where they opened for U2 – and it was really special (no pun intended) so for nostalgiac reasons it'll forever be one of my favorite concert experiences. They won't be returning for this upcoming tour so I'm lucky to have been able to see them when I did.
Anyway, there've been echoes of Version 2.0 in subsequent Garbage releases ("Bleed Like Me" recalls "Medication" and "Empty" sounds much like a relative of "I Think I'm Paranoid") but they've never topped this album for me. The majority of it is solid and well-written; its final third is probably its lowest point but "You Look So Fine" still blows me away every time.

Yeah, this is peak Garbage for me. I love their first album, and their follow up to this was also solid... but 2.0 is just flaw-free. They took the grittier sound of their debut and gave it high-tech sheen, but didn't lose any of the bite. Incredible.
So many great tracks, and Push It was a great way to kick off the era. Temptation Waits, Hammering in My Head, and Dumb are the other standouts in an album filled with standouts.

Every single was amazing. Great album all the way through. I was a big fan of Shirley.
