"You Don't Own Me" was the top remake of the year and "I Know What You Did Last Summer" was the biggest mover of 2016. I imagine "Rise" will tie into the Olympics since Ryan hosted it. I don't see an American Idol song but that might come next week. Can't Help Falling In Love by Haley Reinhart (who was placed third in the 10th season of American Idol) was played as extra on this week's Hot AC show.

Is it me or did KIIS FM skipped Kung vs the Burners song for extra, not the optional extra?

So it is no longer dependent on how many weeks a song spends at #1? Ugg/ In fact, we've had three years this millennium where the #1 song of the year never even hit #1 on the weekly charts: 2000: Vertical Horizon - Everything You Want 2001: Lifehouse - Hanging My A Moment 2006: Natasha Bedingfield - Unwritten* * Mediabase, only. "Hips Don't Lie" by Shakira featuring Wyclef Jean was #1 on AT40, that year. Meanwhile, on the Hot AC chart in 2006, the official year-end #1 (also head on AT20) was "Over My Head (Cable Car)" by The Fray; it only reached #3. AT40's #1 was "It's Not Over" by Daughtry.

They have now removed the word "hell" from Wildest Dreams, though I think we heard it when the song was a hit on AT 40.

Ryan said that Rihanna has had a top 10 song every year since 2005. Nice!

YESSS TWENTY ONE PILOTS!!! At least something went right this year.
This incidentally is the third time when AT40's year end countdown began and ended with the same artist. Ke$ha did the same in 2010, and (in the classic Casey Kasem era) Stevie Wonder in 1986 if you count him as one of Dionne Warwick's "friends" on "That's What Friends Are For".

I guess AT40 will having a short segment tribute to George Michael (who was recently passed away last Christmas) during New Year's Weekend with the same year-end chart and different extras. Speaking of, when was the last time George Michael had his songs on the AT40 chart (both himself and as part of Wham!)?

Speaking of, when was the last time George Michael had his songs on the AT40 chart (both himself and as part of Wham!)? I'm not sure if that can be possible. I'm certain last weekend's and this weekend's shows were recorded well in advance and Seacrest presumably is spending the holidays in Georgia with his family before heading to New York for "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve". If any tribute to George Michael is planned, it likely will happen when AT40 goes back to the regular countdown on 1/7. As per his last AT40 hit, it was his remake of Queen's "Somebody To Love" in 1993 although revisionist history will say it was "Fastlove" in 1996.

Heck, the word "Damn" was edited out of the opening verse of "That's My Girl" for crying out loud.

But I seem to hear the "mutha f*** put back into "Starboy", where it wasn't there before (where he used to say "ima ima starboy" he now says "I'm a mutha f*** starboy").

Also in 7 Years, they got rid of the "by 11 smoking herb and drinking burning liquor" for some odd reason. They also edited Sit Still Look Pretty for no reason, not sure anything about the song is inappropriate

^^All of these edits depend on which station you're listening to. From what I hear, if it's owned by iHeart, they're uploading the show a different way (similar to what you hear on iHeartRadio). If it's a non-iHeart station, the versions will be same as what you were hearing a month ago.

I'm listening right now on the iHeart channel, and the "optional extras" are back just in time, almost.

The iHeart station is, still, running last week's show. I suppose it doesn't really matter, this time around, unless you wanted to hear the other set of extras.

Did Ryan say anything about Idol ending this year? He could have also mentioned that when introducing "Piece By Piece." Ryan just mentioned that Haley Reinhart is an Idol alumna. He did not referred to Idol upon introducing Kelly Clarkson's Piece By Piece. He may do so on the next week's show, though. Just to follow up my post above, Ryan referred to the American Idol twice on this second week's Hot AC show when introducing Hollow by Tori Kelly and Piece by Piece by Kelly Clarkson, including her interview.
