I can't believe she is gonna have the longest running #1 by a female rapper (and that it only takes 4 weeks to get that achievement, Missy deserved better at her prime).
Good as Hell is doing great too! Get it Liz.

I'm starting to feel like after Good As Hell runs it's course, they should push a remix of Like A Girl with a female rapper. I'm curious to see how fast they push her to release a follow up to Cuz I Love You considering all of the singles are...not really on the album.

They really do need to push that next. Maybe put Cardi on it.

The official Japanese subtitled version somehow makes the music video even more retro and badass 😍

I have a feeling "Boys" is going to take off after "Good As Hell". I've seen it being used in a lot of Tik Toks that have gone viral on twitter.

Lol just seen this drama on Twitter now yall got to notify me!! I could have been dragging Iggy in September not just October. Lizzo threw fabulous shade Charlie was the star of that song for me too. However Iggy should have minded her business nobody has to like you lol (and most dont) no female rapper in the game respects you lol

Seeing the comments on those tweets, though... Iggy apparently has stans (who knew?) and they're as toxic as she is.* Watching them seethe as Lizzo doesn't get involved and continues her success is glorious. *Like, girl, she never said anything bad about you. She said the song was dope and her friend is on it. Bruh. I also love that Iggy told everyone to stream "Señorita" and then linked YouTube, the lowest weighted streaming service.

I have followed Iggy on Twitter for a while now and she is a high-key troll who enjoys pissing people off. Nothing new here. She even congratulated Lizzo later.
Anyway, I came across an article which begs the important question: Why don't people love the everyday large Black woman the way they pretend to love Lizzo? I would venture to say that there is a substantial amount of fetishization at the root of her success, as well as the recent body positivity movement wave she rode in on. Outside of a few songs (which do not include the gratingly obnoxious Truth Hurts, btw), the album doesn't hold up over time. Having seen her live, I will say she is definitely talented. She has a strong voice, is clever, and plays the fucking flute. But, the Chicken Soup For The Pumpkin Spice Becky "soul" music of songs like Truth Hurts, Good As Hell, and Water Me, while good for commercials and romantic comedies, fall flat upon careful inspection. I know she can come harder - the title song, Jerome, Heaven Help Me and Better In Color prove that. So, I am interested to see what she does next, but the dead-eyed, vacant almost-nude posturing she has been doing on Twitter has me worried that the industry (known for its destruction of Black women) has already gotten to her.

Lizzo was kinda shady for disregarding another raptress. Imo I feel it was more of hyping Charli because they are actual friends.

Her and Charlie are frends, but would it have hurt to acknowledge the lead female rapper of the song too for the sake of female unity? "Shout out to iggy Fancy is a BOP and my homie @charli_xcx is genius on it (STREAM CHARLI- HER NEW ALBUM NOW)" A simple fix. Seems very intentionally dismissive and passive aggressive to me and it really plays into the idea that female rappers cant support each other. I can totally understand why Iggy would feel a way.

As an aside, this is one of the things I hate about the internet. Same thing happened with Chilli and a young fan who asked if she looked like her. These days, everything can get read as shade, people see subtext everywhere. Not saying people are wrong per se, of course everyone is entitled to their opinion but I can’t imagine what it’s like to be famous and have people all over your every utterance like this. People don’t read literally anymore. They add implied meanings left and right.

WHOO CHILE that was a typo and a HALF! But...ITA with your comment. Oh...so I attempted to see Lizzon at ACL on Sunday but there were about 100k people there just to see her during the hottest day of the weekend. There were medical emergencies, overall chaos, etc. I was able to see the top half of her on a video screen, but couldn't hear her when she addressed the crowd. I mean, I caught a couple of things here and there that made me chuckle, but I feel really bad for people who were specifically there to see her and didn't want to stand in one place hours earlier than they wanted to. Well, Cardi stans had it worse, but still. Very poor planning on the ACL organizers to put someone who has the top song in the country for 6 straight weeks on a smaller stage. Good for her for drawing that kind of crowd though.

Never mind friends, Lizzo and Charli are label mates. People needed to see that for the not-so-subtle Atlantic plug it was and keep it moving.
If someone said "Hold On, We're Going Home is a BOP and my boys Majid Jordan did their thing on it" or "Live Your Life was a BOP and my girl Rihanna did her thing on it" no reasonable person would think that was intentional shade toward Drake/T.I. I know Iggy is hardly in a Drake or T.I. position career wise, but who doesn't remember that Fancy = Iggy Azalea? Hell I get why Charli got the shout out even without the label tie; she's the name people (in the US, at least) would be more likely to have forgotten. But no, it's all women involved so it must be shade unless they're literally shouting out each other's names with a bunch of kiss and star emojis at all times.

Since we all know that how it will be taken when it comes to women, I personally wish they all would stop being ambiguous and start making it clear with certainty that there is no beef. It just seems like it would cultivate a more positive environment among women in the industry and show more of a sisterhood, but I guess people like living in the gray area more.

Back on team Lizzo after watching her full interview on CBS Sunday Morning. She is so likeable. Never seen her interviewed. The one thing I have never knocked (in fact, I praise it for her the most) is that damn flute. I was stunned when she pulled it out at Coachella and it was great at ACL too. Really cool hearing to talk at length about how she came to learn it. Speaking of ACL, even though I had a really s**tty view of the monitor, she definitely sounded good. I failed to mention that. I am hard on her because I know she has the God-given talent and puts in the work. I am just not into the basic life affirmation songs. Not the kind of stuff I listen to. But the gritty stuff on the album I f**k with.
SN: Seeing her break down about her dad's death was so heartbreaking.
