I was one of the lowest rankers for "the New" It's not for me, but "Obstacle #2" is out and that was a banger. I didn't think Interpol were this polarizing?

I might squeeze this in? I'm not finding their sound very interesting. 'What Can I Do If the Fire Goes Out?' is pretty good, but lead singer's vocals are kind of a task to sit through.

Second time around sounds better. Guitar vibes are great. I didn't even tank all the ballady ones either. The instrumentals with violins were gorgeous. That's were you guys get my vote. I also enjoyed the ones where the female helps out? I also pinpointed what about his vocals tune me out. It's his low barritones. Not a fan, but he sounds good on normal range.

Violin instrumentals didn't deserve tanking

Didn't do too bad on this first round. My bottom 3 are all out, and Only one of my top 5 fall.

"Let Me Down Easy" is good, but "Atlas Drowned" is the jam. What's interesting is that except for two of us we all had a different #1 song. Means the band appeals to to as at different music levels. Means they are a good band.

This album was interesting to say the least. Nothing I would feel compelled to ever return to, but interesting for a one time listen. Weird thing about it is that sometimes the vocals deliver a strange Morrison vibe. like the speaking delivery he would do during concerts. The album is a rough start, but becomes a bit more musical towards the middle. It never reaches the threshhold of melodic, but it never becomes boring either. Instead it goes a bit of an eerie pathway. Sounds like something I would expect to hear on Charon's boat on my way to the after life. 100 times darker than any of Ghost's older songs. Ironically my favorite song here sounds a bit like a faster Nine Inch Nails song. Go figure?
