Do I have the wrong one on the playlist? I honestly barely remember this song so I wouldn't have known the difference ha Aaannnnnddd I just noticed the playlist. I'm an idiot. I was wondering if you had put it on shuffle or something since you weren't going in alphabetical order haha!

Compiling my list now. That Preference Revealer is extremely helpful.
Man, this is a fun blast from the past.

TFW the Preference Revealer gives you two songs you love equally and simply can't choose between.

Alright y'all, let's answer a few questions while we wait, shall we? 1. Which songs do you expect to be possible top 10 contenders? 2. Which songs do you think have a good shot at the bottom 10? 3. Which songs will have very high standard deviation in the final ranking? 4. Are there any artists that you think may place high with one song and low with another? 5. Any artists you think have a chance to have multiple songs in the top 20 or multiple in the bottom 20? 6. Any other predictions!? Honestly, I don't have any clue whatsoever about how individual songs will do. Since I of course was not on Pulse back then, I have no sense for how people seem to regard these songs. All I know is the way I feel for them and the things I have heard other people say through the years. 1) "Something More", "A Real Fine Place To Start", and "She Didn't Have Time" should pretty much be locks for the top 10 (in a perfect world), considering how many people seem to either love the song or the artist. I also would not be surprised to see George Strait in there with "You'll Be There", but that one may get thwarted if any non-country fans end up participating (same story with "She Didn't Have Time"). 2) "Picking Wildflowers", "XXL", "Hillbillies", maybe "Shoes"... I honestly am not willing to predict "Honkytonk Badonkadonk" will be in the bottom 10, but I would also not be surprised if it is. I have always personally enjoyed the song, but it seems like a song that would be severely polarizing. 3) "Honkytonk Badonkadonk" will be super high! I also expect Jason Aldean and Keith Anderson to have high SDs. Also, some of the SDs of songs by artists that have been forgotten, such as Buddy Jewel, Van Zant, and Bobby Pinson, will be super high because some people love them while others rank them low based on lack of familiarity. Oooo, and I almost forgot to mention "Do You Want Fries With That"! 4) Trace Adkins is a safe bet. Tim McGraw should do relatively well with many of his songs, but "Fries" may be lower due to its polarizing nature, and I seem to remember almost everybody finds "My Old Friend" to be bland and boring (myself included). 5) Keith Anderson IS going to lose both of his songs in the bottom 20 (again, if there is any justice in this world). I could see George Strait, Keith Urban, and Sugarland having multiple songs in the top 20 (and maybe even the top 10!) 6) Other predictions: - I will not be the highest rank for either Martina song.
- Sara Evans is a lock for the top 10, and may even be #1 (I mean, just look at the participants list!)

@leonblair which version of "Long Slow Kisses" did you listen to? There's a single version that was on the radio that appears on Jeff's Leave The Light On album; that one is far superior to the original version. Do I have the wrong one on the playlist? I honestly barely remember this song so I wouldn't have known the difference ha You have the album version in the playlist, lol. That's fine, I mean it was the original version on his Rainbow Man album in 2003 but RCA Nashville decided to re-record the song for radio when they decided to release one more single off the album. It was a good decision as it became a top 15 R&R hit in mid 2005. It also is far superior to the original version. It was Jeff's final appearance in the top 30. I think a reason why I love 2005 so much is because of my age. I'm 26. I was a teenager when that year in Country music happened. I recognize it was 11-12 years ago and there are some posters here who were 7? 8? 10?, when that year in Country radio happened. Part of it is nostalgia, absolutely...but I've listened to pretty much every year in Country music since 1998 and 2005 was the best I've experienced, with 2004 and 2006 being extremely close. 2005 was also the year I discovered following the charts and how radio worked as a whole; it was just such an eye-opening time for me.

Finished my list using the Preference Revealer, but I seem to not agree with some of the choices I made. Gonna sleep on it for another night or two and make some adjustments before submitting.

Good idea. This is from a non country rankdown, but for the 2015 Year-End Hot 100 rankdown it put a song that I don't really care for above several songs that I actually like. I did notice though and made sure to change that.

There's a song in my top 10 that I have no idea how it got there.

Alllllllllll of this! I'm 2 years younger than you but 100% agree with everything here. I was 12/13 in 2005. I got into country in 2003/2004 when my family and I were on a road trip and listening to a country countdown show and I liked so many of the songs. I was a HUGE American idol fan in my pre-teen and early teen years and lived Josh Gracin when he was on Idol, so when I heard "I Want to Live" on the countdown I ran home to Google him and his record deal and that's when I stumbled across the charts and followed along with them to see how Josh and the other songs I started to love would do. That's why I have such a soft spot in my heart for songs like "Days Go By", "Live Like You Were Dying", "I Go Back", "Feels Like Today", "I Want To Live", etc because that's what was big when I first fell in love with country music :) So 2004-2006 are certainly the golden years!

1. Which songs do you expect to be possible top 10 contenders? Hmm there's quite a few that could be but I think "Baby Girl", "A Real Fine Place To Start", "Stay With Me" seem to be the strongest possibilities to me. "When I Think About Cheatin'" I wanna say will be up there too but something in my gut is telling me it won't.
2. Which songs do you think have a good shot at the bottom 10? "XXL", "Dream Big", "Hillbillies", & "Let Them Be Little" are probably not going to do all that well.
3. Which songs will have very high standard deviation in the final ranking? "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" I can almost guarantee that one lol
4. Are there any artists that you think may place high with one song and low with another? Tim McGraw & Gretchen Wilson will probably come in on both ends of the chart.
5. Any artists you think have a chance to have multiple songs in the top 20 or multiple in the bottom 20? Sugarland and possibly Gretchen Wilson and Keith Urban may get two top 20's. For the Bottom I think Pat Green.
6. Any other predictions!? I think the #1 will shock a lot of people. With all of us playing I believe it won't be an obvious #1.

That's one song on my "to hear" list still. Please give it a chance, lol. I did give it a chance. Right up until "Hillbillies love it in the *donkey sound*" Edit: However, there were still like half a dozen songs that came in lower for me, so I guess me giving it a chance did pay off!

Lyrics are definitely not its strong suit, lol. The creative production, instrumentation and arrangement is why I love it though. I hated it the first time I heard it...but it grew on me immensely. Hot Apple Pie's only album was so good. Songs were way different than the lead single. Listen to "Easy Does It", "California King", "Slowin' Down The Fall" and "Annabelle (Arkansas Is Calling You)".

As wonderful as "When I Think About Cheatin'" is, I personally think that Gretchen Wilson is too polarizing of an artist to get all the way to the top 10 with anything in a group of people this size. Especially when you consider how strong all of her competition is in this list! I would even be shocked if she got anything even close to the top 20, let alone multiple songs. But then again, she has always been bottom-of-the-barrel for me as far as female artists are concerned, so I may be blinded as to the way she is actually received among the Pulse community

I just submitted my list and holy hell, that was hard!
I legitimately love the majority of these songs and I considered at least 20 songs for my Top 5. I got down to my last 4 songs and legitimately didn't know what order to go with.
6 artists have 2 songs in my Top 25!

Hm, I don't know if I'll do this. My #1 hasn't been mentioned in the Top 5 discussion (same with the bottom 10 thankfully!), so I want to help that one. We all know what happened last rankdown...
This is around when I was into country music, but I'm a bit taken aback by how much I don't know on the list lol.

Also, here are some more questions for y'all to answer: Which song do you think will rank higher?! 1. Homewrecker or When I Think About Cheatin'2. Stay With Me (Brass Bed) or Nothin' to Lose 3. Back When or My Old Friend 4. USA Today or Talkin' Song Repair Blues 4. Honkytonk U or Big Blue Note 5. Arlington or Songs About Me 6. Baby Girl or Something More 7. Fast Cars and Freedom or Bless the Broken Road 8. Alcohol or Mud On The Tires9. Probably Wouldn't Be This Way or Nothin' 'Bout Love Makes Sense 10. Lot of Leavin' Left To Do or Come A Little CloserBolded my choices for which one I think places higher.
