After 40-plus years of college ownership, Mississippi College will sell WHJT (Star 93.5) to Meridian-based New South Radio. New South Radio already owns five Jackson radio stations. WIIN (AM 780): classic country (simulcast of WJXN; daytime only) WJKK (Mix 98.7): adult contemporary WSFZ (AM 930): classic country (simulcast of WJXN; 24 hours a day) WUSJ (US96.3): country WYOY (Y101): top-40WHJT has had a Christian-contemporary format since 1986. When New South Radio officially takes over the station, I'm guessing the classic country format had by WJXN (100.9 The Legend) will move to WHJT. Also, New South Radio will also stop leasing WJXN, which is actually owned by Memphis-based Flinn Broadcasting. Coming soon?
