I haven't had a chance to really listen yet, but from a quick skim this morning, DNA, LOYALTY, and LOVE are immediate standouts. Plus, this album is so heavily 90s inspired!

The album is excellent. I agree that it leans more good kid, m.A.A.d city in sound, but a lot of the messages in To Pimp a Butterfly are still carried over to here as well. There's almost a psychedelic sound incorporated in the album, which is a nice touch. "FEAR." is absolutely brilliant. It's my favorite song on the album. I also think "LOVE." has the potential to be the biggest song of his career. "DNA." and "LOYALTY." should be singles too. I'm glad he found a way to merge the sounds of his two major label albums with what's going on today. He deserves radio airplay just like everyone else.

Album of the year for me. The production, his flow, the arrangements. Christ!
PRIDE. LOVE. DNA. FEAR. LOYALTY. GOD. XXX.
His team needs to send LOVE. to radio pronto. That is a crossover hit waiting to happen. My favourite track is probably PRIDE. It knocks hard.

DNA. YAH. ELEMENT. FEEL. PRIDE. HUMBLE. LUST. LOVE. XXX. FEAR.
Off the first full listen, this is the blend of GKMC's sound and TPAB's consciousness that I was expecting and it will definitely get more replay from me than TPAB did.

99 points on Metacritics - I think he is a darling of music critics and audience alike, he ticks all the boxes, he is like an angel. But this album is not that good, it is good, but very mainstream and almost easy listening.

I honestly fail to see how just because this album has more broad appeal and doesn't give a politically charged narrative suddenly means it can't be as good as his previous album. Quality isn't measured by impact on society. The album is no better or worse than his previous, it's just different. It's still just as incredible, but using different methods to be so, which is why Kendrick is absolutely one of the best musicians of our era.

AllMusic gave the album 4.5/5 stars: And I guess we can put that "Nation" album rumor to rest:

This album is solid. "FEEL", "LOYALTY", and "DUCKWORTH" stand out to me the most.
