What have been your favorite songs that weren't promoted singles but charted on Billboard/R&R/Mediabase?
George Strait - "Stars On The Water" (I would also put "Texas" here but that was a Texas single, technically) Sugarland - "Stand Back Up" (a station or two played it a week or two in September of 2005 for some telethon or charity event) Carrie Underwood - "The More Boys I Meet" Tim McGraw - "I've Got Friends That Do"

Reba McEntire - "If I Had Only Known" Sara Evans - "Missin' Missouri" (probably my favourite SE song) Carrie Underwood - "The More Boys I Meet" Carrie Underwood - "Songs Like This"

I rarely heard any local stations play non-album singles that charted other than "Life Is a Highway". Which is odd since WATZ is no stranger to album cuts.
Alan Jackson with George Strait - "Designated Drinker" is the first one that came to mind. That would have been huge if it were a single

"Sin Wagon" by the Dixie Chicks is the first one that comes to mind! Love that song and it should've become a single!

Clint Black - "Desperado" Alan Jackson - "Tequila Sunrise" (I think this and the above counts since other than the video for "Take It Easy" there was no official single for this album) Reba McEntire - "If I Had Only Known" Tim McGraw - "City Lights" George Strait - "You Haven't Left Me Yet"

Clint Black - "Desperado" Ugh. I get that this is an iconic song, to many fans of different genres, but for some strange reason, WYRK played this all the time as an all-time favorite when I was a kid and it just turned me off because I never thought it was a great song to begin with then overkill sealed my negative sentiments towards it. lol

It's an opposite emotion for me as Clint's version takes me back to my childhood and memories of 1993 when I was just starting to discover country music.

I should have your sentiments, since I heard the song as a kid. Maybe it was just old childhood stubbornness.

Jake Owen - Summer Jam f/ Florida Georgia Line
Should have been a single, would have been a career song for Jake.

"Missing Missouri" is my fave ofc. "Life in a Northern Town" by Sugarland, Little Big Town, and Jake Owen was another good one that hasn't been mentioned so far.

Long Slow Beautiful Dance by Rascal Flatts could have been a huge hit.

I still hear "Desperado" all the damn time. Why does a song that only got to #54 have recurrent airplay that rivals freakin' "Friends in Low Places" or "Boot Scootin' Boogie"?

Listener familiarity, I would say. I bet any listener polled would recognize it just as much as any huge hit from the 90s (despite neither version being a single).

Trent Willmon's "The Good Life" was interesting. I charted for almost 20 weeks before it was supposedly a single but the most stations it ever got on the R&R panel was 9, which doesn't add up. 99.5 in Dallas played it 60-70 times a week, which is why it charted for all those weeks and then other Texas stations jumped on by the end of "Home Sweet Holiday Inn's" chart run. I think what might've happened is Columbia sent it to radio but put zero promotion behind it. I always considered it a song that charted high (#38 on Billboard/#41 on R&R) despite not being a single. This song showed just how powerful big time Texas stations were for your song.

Wow, I had no idea until now that Desperado was never released as a single. I remember hearing that on radio ALL THE TIME when I was a kid. I just always assumed it was a huge hit single all this time.
