A day early, but why the hell not. Not too much has changed, just Despacito continues to climb up in the ranks. It is interesting though that many of the songs in the top 20 don't feel "big", and even have songs that peaked at 8 like Scars to Your Beautiful or Fake Love or even 11 like Say You Won't Let Go.
1-Shape of You: 3765 1(12)/22/22 (8) ----------------------------------------------------------------------Top 10 2-Bad and Boujee: 3344 1(3)/30/14 (11)

^Regarding your last comment, peak position is probably the worst indicator of Year-End position. I mean, Deja Vu and Million Reasons peaked in the Top 10 but I agree will miss making it, while something like Both that didn't make the Top 40 will make it. The difference mainly in the cases of Million Reasons and Both was the number of weeks charted. Many times, longevity ends up being more important than peak position.

how is TWIL still so far behind Bad and Boujee? The latter fell out of the top 10 months ago. I'm honestly surprised it's still relatively close to SOY given that SOY actually hit #1 AFTER B&B

TWIL's combined weeks at #2 are much more rich in points than BB's time at #1 and #2.

"That's What I Like" has felt like a bigger hit to me than "Bad & Boujee" this year, but to be fair "Bad & Boujee" did spend a lot of weeks at #2 as well behind "Shape of You" before "That's What I Like" took over the #2 spot. I think "That's What I Like" should easily be able to pass "Bad & Boujee" before the end of the year, though.

B&B had 5 weeks behind SOY and 6 #2 weeks in total. 9 weeks at #1 and #2 is still less than TWIL's 10 or 11 (can't remember) combined weeks. TWIL also had stronger weeks. B&B held at #2 for a while, then completely flailed out of the top10 extremely rapidly. something like 4 -> 6 -> gone This has been a hectic year to judge hits tho. Despacito is the first #1 this year to spend its first two weeks at number one consecutively

Using a 0.85 multiplier like Ride$ uses for his YE Prediction, Bad & Boujee's 3rd week at #1 is the weakest for a #1 song over the past 12 months. Remember when SOY doubled B&B's points? That week, Bad had approximately 35,500 points, if you adjust it's 30,175.
TWIL had 4 weeks above 50,000 (and 3 between 49,400 and 49,700), but was #2 in 3 of those weeks.

Is that even lower than cheap thrills? To be fair tho, B&B had some pretty damn strong weeks at #2. I'm surprised it logged another two weeks at #1 after SOY's debut if its third week was so abysmal.

Cheap Thrills' 4th week at #1 was slightly stronger. Cheap Thrills - Aug. 27 - 35,800 (61k sales, 151m airplay, 13.1m streams) --- Formula: sales/7.5, airplay/9000, streams/1200 Bad And Boujee - Feb. 11 - 41,600 real points, but adjusted it's 35,400 (51k sales, 49m airplay, 47.0m streams) --- Formula: sales/7.5, airplay/9000, streams/1600 To be fair with Bad And Boujee, it was really prejudicated by Pandora's addition + formula change. In its second week at #1 (without Pandora), Boujee had 49,500 points, but when BB added Pandora (B&B 3rd week at #1) and changed streaming diviser from 1200 to 1600, B&B only had 41,600. SOY debuted at #1 with 55,000 but lost ~33% of its points in the second week, so even with ~40k B&B would return to #1 for another 2 weeks.

I'm surprised it logged another two weeks at #1 after SOY's debut if its third week was so abysmal. Cheap Thrills' 4th week at #1 was slightly stronger. Cheap Thrills - Aug. 27 - 35,800 (61k sales, 151m airplay, 13.1m streams) --- Formula: sales/7.5, airplay/9000, streams/1200
Bad And Boujee - Feb. Dude, I think sales/7.5 is a 2017 thing. In 2016 the formula was either sales/9 or sales/10, airplay/9000 or airplay/10000 and streams/1200 (most likely if not 1100) but I haven't got it exactly figured out yet.

George used sales/9.5 or sales/9, but I remember simm using sales/7.5 before Pandora, so I'm using it for last year. However, if it was sales/9.5, 2017's multiplier needs to be even lower, maybe 0.8.

Nope. Trust me. 0.85-0.9 for 2017. It's not just formula, it's also regarding the points of a song in average received at various rankings and the consistency of the chart runs. Like I explained before, I find that the chart run of a year-end #50, 100 song, for example, in 2016 may not be better-looking than that in 2010. That could be because the hectic upward movement of streaming is making the top songs more stagnant and attention-sucking, and as a result, the songs placed comparatively lower each week may not be able to catch up, and the fair-to-middlin'-successful songs are more overshadowed by the smash hits these years. But of course, the general multiplier each year for the sake of real-point decade-end number crunching doesn't need to be that complicated for now. I'm just gonna add up how much a weekly top1/top 10/top 50/top 100 should and could receive in average these years and came to a conclusion of roughly 10-15% difference, and that's the multiplier put here without the regard of point structures. But I'm still trying to work on that. Now I'm probably gonna change the multiplier from 0.85 back to 0.9 since because of streaming the top songs take more attention away from a song that can barely crack the year-end.

It kinda got split in half

This week closer finally ranks above Bad and Boujee. I'm guessing its too late for closer to overtake B&B, though.

I'd say Pandora's addition helped its weeks at #2, but it'd be better if B&B peaked in December since YouTube (B&B's strongest metric) lost power with the lower multiplier. Before Pandora: 20,000,000 views on YT = 16,666 points After Pandora: 20,000,000 views on YT = 12,500 points

2 interesting things could happen: Despacito could overtake Shape of You, even though "Shape" was the perfect #1 song, peaking in March (#1s of the year typically peak in March), with solid numbers of weeks at number 1, in the rest of the top 10, and overall weeks on the chart. Also, Closer could very well hit the very same spot it did last year (#10) or even 8 or 9. That would mark the first time since 1997-98 where a song is in the top 10 for 2 years back-to-back and the first time since the 25/52 rule was created. Regardless, here's the list:
1-Shape of You: 4020 1(12)/24/24 (6)

And even without that it would make sense since YouTube is free and on demand most people pay for it and people who doesn't cant just choose to play a song anytime

I'm saying it because according to my various sets of calculation I'm yet to find an evident example in which this is the case. What you're referring to is probably that before 2013 when youtube was counted, billboard stated in an article regarding 3/24/2012 on-demand streaming inclusion that on-demand counted 2 times as weighed as passive radio streaming and all. Based on what I researched, youtube (vevo or not) videos were not included in hot 100 until the week dated 3/2/2013. And that's not the same as passive radio streaming

I've seen that more than once. Don't think it's editing error. Youtube is not passive but might weight the same. You might be right though since you are always right

Is this a further class of factual display combined with a plain statement of your choice of shifting attention to another post or is this yet another subtle signal suggesting your impatience or alacrity to get focus shifted to somewhere else to avert from interacting with the irritating me blended with a tinge of humor and sarcasm? Lol
