Sure hope she drops a new album in 2024. It sure has been a long time!

Oh...I totally was not thinking that they're going by centuries. My bad. Um, you were literally the one who posted that the list was "of The 21st Century." Anyway, I am glad to see the tour has been a success and she's doing more dates! Okay? And what's the point of reiterating what the other poster had already mentioned? You are a bit 13 days late on this. I already admitted my mistake and edited my post. I clearly had too much shit on my mind when I made that post, having to deal with my father's illness and all. Give me a break already..sheesh 😏 People ain't perfect.

Got 'Til It's Gone will hit 100M Spotify streams (across the album version and the radio edit) in the next 1-2 days. It becomes her fourth song to hit this milestone (after Together Again, That's The Way Love Goes and All For You).

The album that never ends... I mean 'THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT: THE ANTHOLOGY' out now!

I don't understand why she completely gave up on the 'Black Diamond' era. I understand COVID got in the way but plenty of artists continued making music during the pandemic who have since released multiple albums. It's been going on nine years since her last album so it is definitely beyond time for another.

Unbreakable was released Oct. 2, 2015, so this is her longest gap between studio albums (just topping the gap between Discipline and Unbreakable).
While we won't be attending any of the new dates, it's good to see TA continue.

Happy Janet Jackson Appreciation Day! Today officially marks the 20th anniversary of you know what... I remember that it fell on my 16th bday. Let's be like the Britney fans, and stream all of Janet's albums!!! #JusticeForJanetsLegacy

So, after picking up the mail earlier this week, I was stumped by a package that had arrived. Upon opening, I was pleasantly surprised to see the VIP fulfillment items from seeing the show/Janet nine months ago. It was a tote bag and tumblr; at the show, we had received a shirt and hat. Anyone else finally receive their items?

Has Janet dumped the album Black Diamond and is starting fresh? Probably, if she's even been in a recording studio.

Has Janet dumped the album Black Diamond and is starting fresh? Probably, if she's even been in a recording studio. We saw a few pics of her in the studio pre-pandemic, but something about her having the Black Diamond album ready in 2020 always felt premature to me. I don’t think a lot of songs were recorded. The stuff we have heard was during the Made for Now sessions. It’s just odd that the album was all systems go, but then when the tour rolled around, there was no “new music” to preview. Maybe there are songs she’s unsatisfied with and that could be the case, but say the pandemic never happened, I still have questions about Black Diamond’s release. She had a loose concept and a foundation, but did she have the songs?

I stand by the theory that the goal for Black Diamond was for her to continue recording while tour rehearsals were going on and release either the album or the single by the start of the tour or the end of the tour. Judging by her own words about "not knowing whether she'll do an EP or an album" when doing press during the release of Made For Now, I don't think Janet has consistently been in the studio working on a solid body of work. I do think she's been in and out of the studio since 2017 and there's a bunch of BTS stuff that needs to be figured out. For an artist of her stature being independent, I am curious about what an album rollout will look like for Janet in 2024.

Kishi, it’s crazy that as I was reading your post, the “Theory (Interlude)” came on followed by STCML. Is it a sign that you are correct? She stopped at some point, then started at 11 or 12, but never continued, lol. I wish the BMG rollout had worked out. It sounded promising, but also too good to be true. I think there has to be a way for Janet to merge the old school ways she’s used to, but also embrace the streaming and digital era that she never quite crossed over to. She doesn’t need a major label for that, what she needs is a board of savvy and young creatives that are hungry and ambitious enough to revitalize interest in her brand overall. That would require Janet to stray from the comfortability of Gil and some others. While I have great respect for them and mean no disrespect, at some point you’ve run your course with people and it’s time to exert your energy through fresh blood. I’m not saying fire people, I’m saying bring in a crop of new energy to add to what she already has in her arsenal. We need a shakeup. The rollout of the first Janet album in a decade should be more than just a subtle Instagram post. But like I always say, the final word is hers. She has to want it and we can’t want it more than her. Whatever she chooses to do, I’m just here for the music. Give me something, anything.

It’s maddening how little was learned from Prince. I will continue to hold out hope for a new album within the next decade.

She has to want it and we can’t want it more than her. Whatever she chooses to do, I’m just here for the music. Give me something, anything. I love this post! Thanks for this response. There are things that work in Janet's favor: she is a legacy act, has managed to tour on hits alone for a long time and has a dedicated fan base. Where I do see the need for improvement are in her branding, marketing, promotion and team. Even when she's on hiatus, there are ways to keep her name and music out there, so something like her playlisting on streaming platforms can be much better. Her visibility in Latin America and Europe leave a lot to be desired. Some heavyweights should be added to her team that can do the work and fill in the voids. As far as music, it's time to release a new single that can be pushed globally. She was pretty much out of the loop during the digital download era and has somewhat been finding her footing during the streaming era. There have been promising moments here and there since Unbreakable, but I'd love to see more consistency and a stronger presence of her music and legacy overall.

I just realized that “Damita Jo” turned 20 this past week. Do we think we will get “I’m Here” and “Put Your Hands On” on streaming service a this year?
