Well, it looks like Uptown Funk's airplay record has just been passed. What record?

Well, it looks like Uptown Funk's airplay record has just been passed. What record? Uptown Funk had an audience impression of 248.908 as it's peak. But now Shape Of You has surpassed it with 249.961.

Anyways, I hope That's What I Like can reach its peak earlier than Shape of You. I just wanna watch and see how many weeks SOY can top the airplay chart if That's What I Like is out of the way

Well, Shape Of You passed Uptown Funk's peak. I'm not surprised at this point.
And you know, I wasn't rooting for it per se, but I'm okay with it, because unlike Closer and One Dance, I always liked it from the beginning.

I think it will be funny if SOY breaks Closer's records after a few months

^I'm not sure whether to root for that or not. Let's see, Closer had to credit the Fray for subtly using Over My Head (Cable Car) or do I want to root for a Cheap Thrills/The Greatest inspired song? Unless SOY comes close, I don't really want to have to choose.

Do you guys think we can get two female artists in the top 10? Stay seems to be in there for next week (Alessia Cara), but I'm wondering what the chances are of Issues (Julia Michaels) or It Ain't Me (Selena Gomez) entering.

Speaking of, "Shape of You" posts a bigger impressions gain than both "That's What I Like" and "HUMBLE" in the latest update. WTF radio? SOY entered (or reentered?) the top 50 of another format, so Kworb's update for it is wrong. That's what the *** means after the title. Edit: Yep, it entered the top 50 for the all station panel for Urban AC today. (Side note, fucking wot?!) It subsequently "gained" 1.286 AI that Kworb's site couldn't see yesterday, but it always had.

That's kind of bo$$, and I'm glad they got credit. Win/win. I missed that as well. Ever since Blurred Lines lost its case, the threat of a lawsuit for copyright infringement has become more common. Uptown Funk! also had to credit the Gap Band as co-writers, plus it has two other claiming infringement.

They had to credit the Gap Band because they indeed did write part of Uptown Funk, some of the other lawsuits out there seem kind of iffy to me.

That's damn pathetic. Closer shouldn't credit The Fray and no one should credit anyone. It makes me feel like everyone's a credit-hugging bitch.

Airplay-wise Something Just Like This / Paris situation is pretty interesting to me. It's almost like two simultaneous singles that harmoniously co-exist in the top 5 of airplay charts now with similar formats and no one's beating the other's AI down. I don't think that happens a lot

But it's probably because Paris is sung by Drew while SJLT is Chris Martin because the Radio can play two songs by the same artist but not the same voice over and over again I don't quite remember how Sorry did when Love yourself took over radio

Bruno is hella thirsty for number 1. 3 remixes at the same time. Not even Katy did that.

It only worked because the two songs are so different while The Chainsmokers tracks are well... both very Chainsmokers-y

There have also been plenty of examples of artists having more than 1 song in the top 10 of radio. Hasn't Mariah been #1 and #2 at radio a couple times ("Fantasy" and "One Sweet Day" in 1995 and "We Belong Together" and "Shake It Off" in 2005)?

If that's a question you're asking me, I don't know the answer. I was just responding to the poster who couldn't remember Bieber's Sorry/Love Yourself situation.

He had 3 singles in heavy rotation last year (Stitches, Treat You Better, Mercy) all which sound extremely similar. But that didn't seem to effect the airplay of either single. The general public doesn't really seem to care.

The general public doesn't really seem to care. The difference with Shawn is that those songs weren't all in the top 10 of Radio Songs simultaneously. Having a handful of big radio hits in a row is far more common than having 2 of them in the top 10 most played at the same time. But this is kinda getting off topic now.

You don't need to be smug. Just because Shawn didn't have multiple songs in the Top 10 doesn't mean shit if his airplay is still large. I probably heard all 3 of those songs back to back like 5000 times last year. The fact that they weren't in the Radio Songs Top 10 together baffles me.
