Note: these spreadsheets are to be read by column (apologies for not alphabetizing the names to make it a bit easier to find yourself; I was close to finished before I realized this and couldn't easily rearrange them). The shaded blue box in your column is the poster you were closest to in ranking, and the shaded pinkish box is the poster you were furthest away from. I thought it fairest to do the closeness rankings two ways. With picks factored in, participants were as a whole not close at all to the overall rankings, since of course not everyone picked the same songs (or even picked any at all, in a few cases). As you can see the closeness rankings become much tighter when you filter out the extra songs and only focus on the required ones...though the three people furthest away from the ranks are the same either way lol. Oddly enough, when it came to comparing people to each other however the reverse happened - filtering out the extra songs distanced just about everyone from each other, while including the picks brought people closer together. But again, there are a couple of poster stats that remained the same no matter what - Az Paynter and kmbgs have the closest 'close' ranking by far, while aerodynamite and zaclord π are the two people whose ranks are the most opposed to each other. crazyb was the 'closest to' person for the most number of people in both closeness spreadsheets (7 in the full 75, and tied with willapted33 in the required-50 spreadsheet with 3). In the full 75 closeness spreadseet, aerodynamite is the person with the highest number of 'furthest away' people (9) but in the required-50 spreadsheet, @walker9 is the one the most number of people are distanced from (again, 9).

When I first opened the rankdown I said I would calculate things by inverse points (with bonus points for free picks). After the rankdown was closed and I started adding things up, I realized that the free picks didn't fare nearly as well as I had hoped even with the bonus potential, but I figured that it wouldn't be right to change the rules when everyone had already made submission lists based on what I told them before. Nonetheless, here is how things would have turned out if I had used different methods. {Rankdown by inverse points w/ no bonus}

Otherwise nothing really changes here, so it kind of emphasizes the ineffectiveness of the bonus points. {Rankdown by average rank (w/ median tiebreaker and minimum 12 picks)}

Not Gon' Cry 62. Crush I had to use a 'minimum # of picks' rule (at least 33% of submissions) in the hypothetical average/median rankdowns to avoid songs with only one or two picks taking up most of the top 20. One More Chance and Give Me Just One Night (Una Noche) as your top 2 would have been a mess, lol. The average rankdown is still pretty heavily favored toward free picks (it's not until #10 that a required song finally shows up) but the median rankdown is a bit more of a mix. Either way I find both of those rankdowns interesting, and possibly closer to accurate than the 'official' result we got with the inverse points/bonus points system. Not sure how everyone else would have felt about the #1 song being something that barely half of you thought to pick, though.

How this rankdown was calculated: As mentioned in OP, this rankdown was calculated using an inverse point system, but with a tweak. This is the inverse point formula I use: P=( n+1) s β βvWhere P = inverse points; n = number of positions on chart/rankdown; s = number of submissions; And v = value of each submission For those who don't cream themselves over sigma notation, what that means is: take the number of positions on a chart (in this case, 75) and add 1, then multiply that times the number of submissions received. Subtract the sum of all submission rankings from the previous result. For the free picks, the formula is P=(( n+1) s β βv) + bwhich just means, 'figure out the inverse points and then add on the bonus points that people gave the songs.' Note that for the free picks, s is going to be a different number depending on how many people picked the song. Because I didn't require people to use all 25 of their picks, the free picks kind of got put at a disadvantage that even my points system wasn't able to overcome. Someone who had a 65-song list was still giving 11 points to their lowest-ranked song, whereas free picks had to rely on high rankings and bonus points to overcome the 0 points they received from people who didn't pick those songs at all. The majority of participants did not use all 25 picks. As a result, almost all of the free picks that managed to make the rankdown fell below #50. There are two songs that managed to jump over that hurdle, however. So, some questions while we wait on the reveal, starting later this evening: 1. Spoiler alert: two free picks were able to crack the top 50. Any guesses on what those two songs are and how high they placed? 2. Which two required songs do you think missed the top 50? 3. Which free picks to you think we will see in the first set of reveals today? 4. What other free picks do you think will make it onto the final rankdown? 5. Which free picks do you think received the most bonus points? (Not necessarily the same as which free pick was chosen by the most people) 6. Which required song do you think will have the highest/lowest standard deviation? (The free picks all have lower standard deviations than the required songs, because their numbers are spread out over fewer submissions). 7. What song do you think will win? 8. How well do you expect your #1 pick to do? Bonus question: There were 97 available free picks. How many/which of those songs did not get picked by anyone at all?
Th above 'reserved' posts will be filled in later with final results, various 'what if' stats (i.e. what would the rankdown look like if I ranked by average or median), and closeness rankings. I'm a dufus who always forgets to book the first few posts on the first page so just remember to check the top of page 4 when this rankdown is over :) Also, throughout the rankdown I will be throwing in some honorable mentions to free picks that didn't quite get enough submissions or bonus points to make the cut.

1. Any guesses on what those two songs are and how high they placed? My guess is that In The End & Counting Stars are the free picks that made the list with both finishing in the 40's. 2. Which two required songs do you think missed the top 50? Probably 2 of the older songs. Missing & Nobody's Supposed To Be Here? 3. Which free picks to you think we will see in the first set of reveals today? If you mean which free picks finished last I'm guessing Anaconda. 4. What other free picks do you think will make it onto the final rankdown? Frozen, This Ain't A Scene. 5. Which free picks do you think received the most bonus points? No idea lol. Frozen maybe? 6. Which required song do you think will have the highest/lowest standard deviation? Lowest SD - probably the bottom 5. Highest SD - Hotline Bling/Stressed Out. 7. What song do you think will win? Boulevard Of Broken Dreams? Hoping that it'd win. Get Lucky, Mirrors & Get Lucky are different options. 8. How well do you expect your #1 pick to do? I expect it to do quite well, hopefully it'll make Top 20.

Honorable mentions #15 (tie)
Get Low, Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz ft. Ying Yang Twins Points: 284 | average rank: 21.8 | median rank: 20 | st. dev.: 9.174 Blocked by: Baby Boy, Beyonce (1 week)
Submissions:
Fun fact: Lil Jon totally lifted the hook for this song from a black fraternity - I remember hearing the 'to the window, to the wall' chant at parties years before this song was released. Literally the only difference is that Jon chops off the last line of the original frat chant ("skeet off, skeet-skeet motherf**ker/skeet off skeet-skeet gotdamn/skeet off, skeet-skeet motherf**ker/make love to a Kappa man/ow, ow, ow/yo, yo, yo"). Needless to say this song was played to DEATH at Kappa parties when it came out lmao (The clue: XXXtina getting low, obvs) 7 Years, Lukas GrahamPoints: 284 | average rank: 19.8 | median rank: 20 | st. dev.: 9.745Blocked by: Work, Rihanna ft. Drake (3 weeks); Panda, Desiigner (1 week)8 - YotamTS 11 - @walker9 20 (+2) - born 25 (+1) - Beno 35 - @jamesflame yalltried.mp3 (The clue: Christina on Star Search, when she was 7 years old)

Not that I would've had it as one of my bonus songs, but I had no idea that "Get Low" peaked at #2. I keep thinking it peaked at #3 for some reason.

#75.
Bitch, Meredith Brooks Points: 442 | average rank: 21.75 | median rank: 22.5 | st. dev.: 10.802 Blocked by: I'll Be Missing You, Puff Daddy ft. Faith Evans &112 (4 weeks)
The first actual entry on the rankdown, this is one person whose one-hit status can't be disputed (much). Only one subsequent single from Meredith (What Would Happen) charted on the Hot 100; it missed the top 40, peaking at an unremarkable #46 and falling off the chart completely after 10 weeks. According to her Wiki page she is going to release an album titled Merciless this year, but according to the even more merciless Google, the only relevant thing she's bitched about in the past several years is Hillary Clinton. Oh, well. The clue is a still shot from Christina's video for Keeps Gettin' Better. The chorus of the two songs are thematically similar, IMO - so much so that I'm convinced Christina and Linda Perry were consciously trying to create a modern version of Bitch. " Some days I'm a super bitch, up to my old tricks, but it won't last forever/next day I'm your super girl out to save the world and it keeps getting better..."

Re: clues, I tend not to be great at them either, so I'll try not to make them too obscure. No promises though. Coming up with good hints is hard! Anyway, here are some clues for the next three songs: #74 #73 #72 nsisco0818 oh i forgot my tags

#74.
Let Me Blow Ya Mind, Eve ft. Gwen Stefani Points: 445 | average rank: 20.625 | median rank: 25.5 | st. dev.: 9.899 Blocked by: Fallin', Alicia Keys (1 week)
The clue: mindblown.gif Good job, aero! I don't have much to say about this song, except that I do miss Eve and I kind of hate that she has virtually zero legacy status in hip-hop discussions. But she found herself a billionaire and basically couldn't give a damn about trying to create or maintain a legacy status. I ain't mad.

#73. The clue: Sittin' Up In My Room was on the Waiting to Exhale soundtrack, as was Whitney's semi-titular single. But as the lead single from the soundtrack, Exhale (Shoop Shoop) was able to narrowly avoid SUIMR's fate by snatching a very quick #1 debut before One Sweet Day took over the next week. You know a song has stayed at the top too damn long when its run lasts longer than three consecutive singles from a blockbuster soundtrack. (After knocking off Whitney, Mariah and BIIM blocked both Brandy and Mary J. Blige's Not Gon' Cry...I think it was still on top even when the fourth single from WTE, Count On Me was first released.) #2 peaks aside, WTE was such a huge moment in music at the time and it's unfortunate to me how easily people have forgotten it.

Idk about #74, but I think: #73 - Breathe #72 - Drunk in Love Actually "Breathe" is one of the mandatory songs so it shouldn't be that low... Could #73 be "Heartbreak Hotel" which is also by Whitney instead?
EDIT: The #73 song was revealed when I was typing this up lol
