And burn out. The novelty/curiosity factor of them going solo can only last for so long. I think that Niall and maybe Harry can both have solid careers, but the other three (two) will have to get back together. 2 of zayn's songs reached higher on the charts than anything the others have made (Pillowtalk and I don't wanna live forever)

He hasn't yet proven he can sustain a career as a solo artist.

Zayn was first to go solo, so he got all the attention and hype. Also, Pillowtalk and IDWLF sounded like radio hits.

But now that it's gone, we should look on His other song without a big name or superhype: Still Got Time. A great flop. Harry will have the fangirls, promo and critics and Niall will have AA Radio and older 1D fans. They are the most likely to survive.

I'm not saying that his music had any quality, just that he has been the most successful since leaving 1D. The others mentioned as maybe having solo careers haven't been nearly as successful, regardless of what you or I think about their music

Harry is giving Zayn a run for his money on album sales, but right now I don't see any of them matching 1D's success as solo artists. Niall, Harry and Zayn will probably enjoy decent careers anyways.
Niall is doing fine, Harry probably has no hits left on his album, but the album itself is doing fine, and Zayn really needs a killer single right now, because underwhelming stuff like Still Got Time and Like I Would aren't going to match Pillowtalk.
The other two I can't see doing much.

The other two I can't see doing much. 1D never had a #1 hit and Zayn debuted at #1. Regardless, I agree with your analysis. I'm guessing that some of 1Ds songs were bigger than Pillowtalk

Oh yay, the whole peaks mean nothing argument again.
Peaks mean nothing. Pillowtalk debuted at number one. Cool. What Makes You Beautiful was still much bigger, though. Doesn't matter that it didn't hit #1. It had the stronger impact.

"I'm guessing 1D had stronger songs anyways" - me Pillowtalk and IDWLF were much bigger songs than anything any of the others put out (solo)
