Released in 1954 and famously used in the film Clue. Love this song.

I certainly remember this one, from back when I was 11 years old. A TV dance show called "Bandstand" used to play this in the summer of 1954. Brings back memories.

I do love the 50s station on SiriusXM. This song always make me smile.

the original R&B version by The Chords was the better version though only peaking at #9 since Pop radio back then were only playing the white versions of songs.

Would that be the Philadelphia "Bandstand" with Bob Horn, prior to going national with Dick Clark as "American Bandstand"? I actually heard this a couple of weeks ago in the liquor store, of all places.

Sh-Boom spent 7 weeks at the top Cash Box charts in 1954 (August/September) --as the two different versions sales were combined into one chart listing.
By the way, this was a pretty common practice for Cash Box from 1944-1965 (to combine all the versions of a particular song into one chart position).
By the way, a great song no matter which version you like best.

But Dick Clark became host of "Bandstand" in mid 1956, a full year before it changed to "American Bandstand" in the summer of 1957. I was watching the show in those days, so I should know.
