Is she really going to give me my favourite Florence album in 2018? Big God is something magical. It builds. There’s so much in that track

Which of the past albums is it most like? Or how does it compare? Imma get this after work today. I’m hoping for a summer ceremonials.

I don't know if this is that similar to any of her albums? If I HAD to choose, I'd probably say the slower moments of her last.
I was a little underwhelmed on a first listen, it's generally a lot 'smaller', but on repeat listens it's really opening up for me.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's a grower, but right now it's definitely my least favorite Florence album.

Sounds quite lovely from what I can hear. Not as grand as Ceremonials (which was flawless and her best so far) but still potent.

I think with this being thus far her most personal album, this will either take awhile before people can connect to it or some just won't been too happy about the effort. I've only heard the first 4 tracks of it. The rest will be played after work.

Yikes I don't like this album at all. A monotone boring snoozefest filled with 'sophisticated' lyrics that I can't stand. I want Ceremonials Florence to come back immediately.

This is okay. Instrumentals, vocals and lyrics are well done. It just isn't as epic as I would have hoped.

Masterful. Much better than their last, which bored me outside 2 or 3 songs. She came out with something to prove on this album. She was like, "Oh you think I am just a goaty throat?!" and showed all the subtlety of that instrument of hers. Sometimes, I was blown away and hypnotised by its beauty. Below Ceremonials at this point but above her rest.
1. 100 Years (one of the reasons I love Florence. Only she could do this. Epic in every sense of the word and so very Florence.) 2. The End Of Love (wait...what...omg...I have found my Never Let Me Go of the album...one of her best songs, hands down) 3. Sky Full Of Song (my first time hearing and...I'm in tears.) 4. Big God 5. Grace 6. No Choir 7. Patricia 8. South London Forever 9. Hunger (not really too into this one, unfortunately, but hey, there is masterpiece of an album before it.) 10. June

Billboard 50 Best Albums of 2018: Critics' Picks
31. Florence + The Machine, 'High as Hope'Florence + The Machine’s stunning 2015 effort How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful will be remembered as the record where Florence Welch expelled her personal demos through foot-stomping bangers about getting drunk and wrecking ships. But the sweetly scaled-back follow-up, High as Hope, is a balm on those earlier wounds. Now 32, Welch is taking a more reflective approach to exploring pain and loneliness ("Hurts in ways I can't describe/ My heart bends and breaks so many, many times," she sings on “100 Years”) as well as the very modern hurt that comes with not being texted back (“Told me that he loved me, yeah/And then ghosted me again” on “The End of Love”). And of course, Flo is still willing to show off those incomparable vocals, as even a cursory listen of "Big God" or “Sky Full Of Song” will prove. Turns out, even the most shattered souls among us can still swim to shore. -- GAB GINSBERG LINK

Maybe I'm thinking of something else, but didn't Billboard release an article with predicting this album being big at this upcoming's Grammys?

It's weird because I have had fantasies about drowning to that song and have even played it when really fucked up and walking into the ocean (when I can't swim) but I somehow come to my senses and resist the Siren's Call.

LOVE the new songs. "Moderation" is a great banger for her and "Haunted House" is so fucking pretty. So glad she released these tracks, High As Hope was far too short with only ten songs.
