Tim's debut era really had the worst singles released. I wish "What She Left Behind" had been a single because I think that is one of the best songs on that album. "Memory Lane" is up there for me as I really like it and am a little sad it is out in the first 6 reveals but compared to his other stuff I really didn't expect it to last too much longer so not really bothered by it. Completely expect "Welcome to the Club" to be out soon too
Hopefully my 74 & 72 can gtfo soon. I really cannot stand either song. Cannot wait to see what comes next!

That's right, Kanenrá:ke and .indulgecountry, you can become even better friends now! You have both ranked the Kenny Chesney song in last place! I hope that makes you feel like a rockstar. Listening to this for this rankdown, it was not nearly as awful as I remember thinking it was in 2012. I still wouldn't go out of my way to listen to it often, and it still placed in my 70s because Tim has such a strong catalog, but I definitely could see this one being a jam if I were in the right mood. Also, I would just like to point out that we have now lost our 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th lowest standard deviation songs! Where is the 4th, you might be wondering? Well, we will not see it until we get to the top 5 Everything in between is going to start being a little more polarizing!

I haven't heard Feels Like a Rockstar in years so I gave it a listen because I really didn't remember anything about it or why I hated it so much. Then when I heard it again, I remembered why I couldn't pinpoint exactly what I hated about it: it's because the whole thing is atrocious.

I actually like "Feel Like a Rockstar" even though I ranked it at #72 I feel like I'll place it higher than I did here when the inevitable Kenny Chesney rankdown happens. bboat11 I listened to "Come Over" several times after that and I don't find it as boring as I thought I did (and bonus points for the fact that Sam Hunt co-wrote it), but it's still nowhere near my favorites from Kenny.

Yeah, that song felt so out of place for them and it didn't surprise me in the slightest to see it fizzle out as quickly as it did. Two mega stars in the country format releasing nothing better than bonus-track-worthy material? Yep, something went very wrong behind the scenes. It's easy to think Tim and Kenny were utterly stupid releasing this, but either someone else was pulling the strings or they had very little time to collaborate and just picked a random song and call it a day. This might be unpopular 'round here, but I'd like to see them try another duet somewhere down the line, even if it's similar in content to this throwback duet:

That's right, we can officially wave goodbye to the 3rd consecutive song from Tim's debut! Can't say I'm going to miss any of them. I am surprised to see that this song gave somebody the very first top 20 loss of the rankdown! My higher ranking for "Memory Lane" is somewhat tied to a nostalgic feeling I get when I hear the song as it brings back memories of growing up with CMT. My introduction to Tim McGraw came from both that song and video.

You guys might be wondering, "Where the hell did bboat disappear to? Is he alive? Is he avoiding us?" I would just like to take a moment to apologize for triggering all of your latent PTSD regarding the Dixie Chicks rankdown, and to let you know that you can stop your involuntary trembling, because this will be continuing! All is well on my end! Remember how I said I would be moving right at the start of August? Well, I spent all day yesterday (Wednesday) packing, which is why I only got through one reveal... And now today I spent driving across the state, unloading my car, melting like a wax figure in the Death Valley that is currently Washington State, and hanging out with some friends. Tomorrow my parents will be bringing another load of stuff, so I will still be in moving mode, and then Saturday we have a family reunion to attend. Then after that my family will head back home across the state, and I will be left alone to start my new life in Spokane :) Meaning, spend months unpacking everything...
I'll try to get some reveals done in the morning tomorrow, since my parents won't get here until afternoon/evening.

Now, while the previous eliminations have all been more-or-less expected, the next one is one that I would say took me a bit by surprise! I knew it wasn't well-liked, but I didn't think it was quite THIS hated. It doesn't make a difference to me really, but somebody will lose a top 15...

Eddie's version was better (grading on a curve due to age), but I do like Tim's, it just really shouldn't have been a single from a surprisingly strong album.

Not sorry to see "Suspicions" go, it should have never been released as a single. "Train #10", "Between The River And Me", "Whiskey And You", and "Shotgun Rider" are all far superior songs and would have been way better single choices.

I enjoyed Tim's cover of "Suspicions" a lot! This elimination however is not a surprise considering covers don't fare that well in rankdowns and the quality of Tim's discography.
*runs and checks what's in my top 15* I would like to think I'm safe but my #15 looks a bit iffy... I still don't think it's going to be out this early but bboat did say he didn't think this song was THIS hated, so you never know...

I could see my #14 leaving, but it'd be way too soon at this stage; I'm gunnin' for a top 40 finish with that one! Then again, with the luck I've had so far, it might be either another cover, collab, that Nickelback co-write, or something completely different that I've ranked outside my top 50.

"Suspicions" definitely had no business being a single from that record, imo. It still amazes me that the Let It Go era somehow managed to be 7 singles long, and yet almost all of the great single choices were still not released.

"Suspicions" being a single might have been the most dumbfounded I've ever been in a song seeing radio. Tim was a huge fan of it, so they released it. Just like Mike Curb was supposedly a big fan of "Kristofferson", so they released that one next.
"Train #10" or "Between The River And Me" please, ugh!!!

I've never understood why everyone hates "Top of the World." Like I really just don't get it. It was a weak lead single choice considering how strong the album was, but just putting it up next to his two lead singles that came before that made it look like a total classic, lol.
The one thing I really like about TOTW is the verses are so throwback. His delivery of them is just so early 2000s/late 90s-esque in sound to me and I really like that, and the chorus was catchy enough. It's not a standout by any means and it shouldn't have been a single in hindsight, but yeah, this getting so much hate still perplexes me.

I knew the debut album would be the first one to lose all its songs, but damn, I didn't think it would be *that* fast. I'm glad that my favorite of the set was the last one standing though!

Album Spotlight: Tim McGraw Released: April 20, 1993 Label: Curb Records Producer: Byron Gallimore, Doug Johnson, James Stroud Runtime: 30min 22sec AllMusic Rating: 2.5/5
Tracklist: 1. Welcome to the Club 2. Two Steppin' Mind 3. The Only Thing That I Have Left 4. You Can't Take It With You (When You Go) 5. Ain't No Angels 6. Memory Lane 7. Tears in the Rain 8. What She Left Behind 9. What Room Was the Holiday In 10. I Keep it Under my Hat
-"Memory Lane" and "Tears in the Rain" were both co-written by Joe Diffie
-"Memory Lane" was previously recorded by Keith Palmer
-"The Only Thing That I Have Left" was previously recorded by George Strait on his 2nd album, Strait from the Heart (1982).
Country Airplay Peaks: (In this section, the hits will be listed in order of biggest-to-smallest in terms of chart peak and overall impact.) Welcome To The Club - 47 Memory Lane - 60 Two-Steppin’ Mind - 71 What Room was the Holiday In - NA
Rankdown Placements: (In this section, the songs' placements in the rankdown will be listed in order from highest-to-lowest, so y'all can compare the singles' performance on radio with how Pulse in general feels about the album) 67. Welcome To The Club 71. Memory Lane 72. Two-Steppin’ Mind 73. What Room was the Holiday In
In this case, it looks like we liked the songs in the same order that radio seemed to want to play them!
Album Tracks: (In this section, I will feature songs that people chose as album tracks that did not make the final countdown)
Unfortunately, nobody chose an album track from this album #flopfans #flopalbum
So I will just highlight "The Only Thing That I Have Left", since that's the only one that I know thanks to George Strait.
