Does this mean she's releasing High Horse on iTunes before the album release? I was hoping we would get Slow Burn next... =/
High Horse was my least favorite from the new songs she performed when I saw her live... It's a nice and fun song but I wanted something else to get a taste from the album

Her promotion seems to be all over the place. I wish she had gone a bit more traditional when it comes to release a first single. Whatever, I am still excited to listen to this.

I actually loved the recorded version of HIGH HORSE way more than when she did it live. It's completely different from all the songs she's released so far in her career, but still very Kacey in a great way! The lyric video is great too! (loved the little bits in portuguese!)

Kacey has some promo lined-up for the upcoming weeks! She's set to appear on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on March 29, The Today Show on March 30 and The Ellen DeGeneres Show on April 4. Hopefully more is added. Without much radio support, she really needs these kind of high-profile gigs to get the word out about the new record.

I love High Horse and I really like that video too. This song is just so fun but also such a great message. This might be a good one to connect with the popish audiences!

High Horse is a next-level elevation for her. Pageant Material was a very natural step from Same Trailer, but this is like, passing through a portal and transcending into a new dimension.

After their rave review of "Space Cowboy", now PITCHFORK has selected "High Horse" as their Best New Track! Can't wait for the album reviews... I really hope they follow suit!

Their dissection of the Miley/Lady GaGa crossover is SPOT ON. This is exactly what they were trying to accomplish and failed. This is how it should be done.

Very interesting article from the Huff Post... When Will Kacey Musgraves Be Loved? The "Golden Hour" artist has the critical acclaim, fan base, and award recognition of a superstar. But country radio won't play her songs.
www.huffpostbrasil.com/entry/kacey-musgraves-golden-hour_us_5ab2c1fae4b008c9e5f3c8daAbout "Golden Hour": It sounds like a musician unbound, from the conventions of country music, from the tiresome arguments over what constitutes βreal country,β from an industry that hasnβt so much made her a superstar as it has watched her become one anyway.
β³ ... Untangled all the strings βround my wings that were tied,β she sings in βButterflies,β one of pair of singles released in early March. That sense of liberation runs through all of βGolden Hour,β one of the most interesting and creative country albums released in recent memory.
βThere can be this attitude of having to prove how country you are ... and letting that be what defines your sound, and really being a stickler to that,β Musgraves said. βAnd I just I think that can be dangerous. I refuse to play that game, to be in that contest.β

I love all three songs so far. I preordered the album and I pretty much only do that for a Kelly Clarkson release. High Horse sounds amazing and I canβt wait to hear the club mixes. Talk about taking country somewhere new...to the Dance charts!

Dandelion is soooooooooo underrated. One of her best lyrically for sure Made me so happy to hear you and The Brazilian Guy love Dandelion too!! Since the release of the three Golden Hour tracks, I went from barely knowing Kacey to a full blown Stan! I can't believe this! I just watched all her music videos too. Love the looks in Follow Your Arrow and Buscuits, which is definitely her best. High Horse's production is truly groundbreaking. Disco Cowgirl! I wish the chorus had a little more words, but you can't have everything. Also... she was so freaking hot in her silver body suit and straight black hair on her Jimmy Fallon performance. Kacey can get it anytime, any place, from my gay self haha!

This is an amazing album. "Unchained from country" is the best description. It is clearly rooted in that tradition, but twists it in all the right places to make something new.

After listening to this twice, I'm in love with this record! I was worried the new direction she wanted to go "production-wise" would distract from her signature great songwriting and melodies, but it didn't at all. It has the absolute right combination of the EVOLUTION and FRESHNESS she was craving for, without sacrificing Kacey's musical CHARACTER!
Not sure how much credit u guys can give me being a self-declared Kacey stan, but anyway, here's my brief opinion LOL
01. Slow Burn 10/10 Such a perfect opening! It sets the mood for the whole record perfectly.
02. Lonely Weekend 8/10 Pretty good song and follow-up to the previous track. It does a good job at moving the tempo a bit.
03. Butterflies 9.5/10 The melody here is the brightest aspect of this song.
04. Oh, What A World 10/10 My favorite production on this album. I love how it manages to explore while still being deeply rooted in the genre. Stunning!
05. Mother <3 Short and sweet... works like a cute interlude
06. Love Is A Wild Thing 9.5/10 This would work PERFECTLY for radio if someone else was singing it. Beautiful!
07. Space Cowboy 10/10 One of the standouts lyrically.
08. Happy & Sad 9/10 I was not digging this one as much as other tracks at first but as the song progressed, I started loving it. Sounds like a Bee Gees ballad, especially towards the end.
09. Velvet Elvis 7/10 Nice track but definitely my least favorite on the record. It has some nice moments though.
10. Wonder Woman 9.5/10 This one has a 70s feel to it I just love... maybe in the way she plays with the melody.
11. High Horse 9.5/10 Such a new territory for Kacey and still works great for her. Really infectious and it be nice to see how it would work as a single!
12. Golden Hour 10/10 The easy breezy feeling we all crave captured in a song... Gorgeous
13. Rainbow 10/10 Less is more here... that moment when a great song and beautiful interpretation speak for themselves.

Reposting from the "High Horse" thread because this thread is probably better suited to my question:
I haven't listened to Kacey much, but I just listened the three songs she's released for the upcoming album and I'm a fan of all of them. Is this more pop-leaning than her previous material?
Just trying to figure out how ashamed to be over my sleeping on Kacey. Not a big country music fan and remember listening to some of her first album and liking it, but not really being drawn in. Might need to give that another listen.
Like, what kind of Lana-inspired country hybrid brilliance is "Butterflies"?

This record has sounds and textures that shows a very clear sonic direction and an aesthetic of its own. Some of it reminds a bit of her first album, but still, not quite.
