I think she will get nominated for Country AOTY, overall AOTY, and country song for βspace cowboyβ and country performance for βbutterfliesβ. βHigh Horseβ is my favorite thing sheβs ever done but I donβt see it getting nommed in the categories they submitted.

If she doesn't get an AOTY nod, the Grammy's are null and void. It would be a joke from the jump.

I understand country & pop are very different and Kacey seems to have her country peers rallying behind her after the CMAs upset but I really need this to NOT go the way of CRJ's Eβ’MOβ’TION. We need and deserve that AOTY nod. PERIOD.

Queen Kacey made Complex's Top 50 Albums of 2018 at #36! The narrative that surroundedΒ Golden Hourwhen it was released this past spring wasΒ intriguing: talk of acid trips, Sade, songs written for LGBTQ youth, and βgalactic cosmic country.β Of course, the fact that so many mainstream outlets fell in love with the record also translated to talk aboutΒ whether it was, in fact, country. But now that weβve had time to appreciateΒ Golden HourΒ for what it is, apart from the colorful interviews and definition-of-country battles, we know itβsΒ a beautiful collection of songs, whatever genre you want to lump it into. Musgraves, alongside collaborators Ian Fitchuk and Daniel Tashian, crafted melodies and chord changes that feel familiar without being predictable.Β Lyrics are evocative and emotional, but still specific and clever.Β Arrangements know when to strip down to almost nothingΒ and when to bring in flourishes of color from a banjo or a pedal steel. Musgravesβ nod to Neil YoungβsΒ After the Gold RushΒ on album highlight βSpace Cowboyβ (βYou can have your space, cowboyβ) is not an accident. Young was one of the singerβsΒ earliest influences, and she shares hisΒ fuck-you attitudeΒ to genre and expectation. If Musgraves wants to include a dance song (βHigh Horseβ) or a one-minute sketch about intergenerational loss (βMotherβ), sheβs going to go right ahead and do it. Weβre all the luckier for it.Β βShawn Setaro www.complex.com/music/best-albums-2018/kacey-musgraves-golden-hour?utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=complexmag

"Golden Hour" tops Entertainment Weekly's 20 Best Albums of 2018
1. Kacey Musgraves β Golden Hour
There are some albums that speak to the moment. Others speak to the heart. Some set their sights on getting that booty up off the couch and shaking. A few precious records do all of that and more. In less than the advertised hourβright around 45 minutesβthe Golden, Tex., native encapsulates the bittersweet intersection of melancholy and euphoria and the ways in which people connect and disconnect in a challenging world. Whether itβs the shimmer of βSlow Burn,β the emphatic kiss-off of βSpace Cowboy,β the disco delirium of βHigh Horse,β or the gauzy, romantic wonderment of βButterfliesβ and βOh, What a World,β Musgraves remains tethered to her country roots while roping in a world of new sounds for one of 2018βs most eminently repeatable releasesβbecause this is an Hour you donβt want to end.

This just feels like the definitive best album of the year, as far as mainstream attention goes (which is all the Grammyβs, and the rest of us, promise to care about), that anything less than an AOTY win feels unjust.

Country Album Country Solo Vocal - "Butterflies" Country Song - "Space Cowboy" ALBUM. OF. THE. YEAR.
The amount of support she got from the Country branch got me REALLY excited! Considering she was 'snubbed' for key country categories during her 2 previous eras ("Merry Go Round" missed Country Solo while being widely predicted there and no singles nominated from PM) I was expecting only the album to be nominated - in AotY and BCA - with "Space Cowboy" having a better chance for a single to be nominated. I'm so glad she got in on all her submitted categories in country!

She deserved every single one. Hell, she deserved more. I hope she somehow pulls off AOTY.

Justice for Pageant Material but this is such a pretty album. Happy she was nominated!

Before, I though "High Horse" was a good choice for General Field submissions, but now looking at the actual nominees, I wonder if it wouldn't have been smarter to submit something like "Slow Burn" for Song of the Year... I think something "moodier" could've gotten her a nom.

Holy shit. Based on how hip-hop/r&b heavy the AOTY category is and how Stapleton was thankfully not given a nod, I think she could actually win this.

I am slightly worried about Brandi Carlile and all the hype - some people in the country/americana/singer songwritter camp might feel Kacey is a shoe in and decide to vote for Brandi. Hopefully people have learned their lesson with that in past elections and I like the amount of love for R&B cause it might split votes and let our girl win! She should get Country album at least.
Also happy that Butterflies and Space Cowboy got some recognition - this only makes it some much more pathetic that country radio continues to refuse to play her.

Brandi wouldnβt be undeserving in the least but Kacey is such a fuck you to country that her winning would be a win for all of us.

So happy for her! The album means so much to me because it was released when things were changing in my life and I felt there was so much promise, and I just really connected to it. Can't wait for her to snatch that AOTY trophy!

Watching her videos to get reacquainted with the album and to introduce my friend April to it, while she is in town visiting me. She doesn't seem to be too enthused about it but I have a newfound appreciation. The album kinda came and went for me and I don't feel the need to play it on a regular basis, but when I do, I fall into a trance.

Album of the Year. Indeed it is. So well-deserved and she better win (although I am worried that Brandi would win - which I wouldn't be too mad about because that is another fantastic album). If anyone else wins, I'm calling BS.

What song do y'all think she should perform at the Grammys?
Part of me wants a repeat of the "Rainbow" performance she gave on Late Night with Seth Meyers. Part of me wants a repeat of the "Space Cowboy" performance she did on Ellen. Part of me wants "Love Is a Wild Thing" or "Oh, What a World".
Ugh. It's so hard to pick just one song to showcase how phenomenal this album is and how deserving she is of AOTY. She could do a medley, though I'm not sure how that would go over.
