...Oh wow. I know she will probably do Praying, but I REALLY hope she does this instead. The alignment with current themes in Hollywood sociopolitics could not be better and let’s face it, she always looks more comfortable and does better performing this song. Not to mention it is literally the perfect promotional space to push it to take off. Doing a full performance of "Praying" definitely is not a good idea, she will never get that high note in live performance and that will disappoint people.

I hope if she performs this that she uses the "I'm a, I'm a, I'm a woman" and then on a screen have "I'm a motherf*ng women" so people know that that is the original ("I'm a woman" is much better than "I'm an independent woman", but it still takes away from the fierceness of the original

Her live performances have received a lot of positive support because of their emotional impact and vocal quality, note aside. One of her two nominations is for this song! It’s the reason she’s here to begin with. It should be celebrated. I’ve never looked at the Grammys as a means to unleash new material, but to showcase the best of the best of that year. I understand wanting “Woman” because I think it has the potential to be great, but I see “Praying” receiving a standing ovation and cutting to closeups of her female peers in tears, screaming support for her. That... is a Grammy moment.

Good take. Still think Woman could also be a moment. But I see your point.

I liked when she performed it on Good Morning America(?) and she subbed the expletive out with "nasty." That sounds better than either of those. I also liked it because it reminded me of Trump's petname for Hillary. :kii:

The official edit that played over her entrance at the VMA's was "I'm an independent woman." I assume that's what's going to radio, but I don't know.

I think Praying would be a moment, especially with the Me Too stuff. And she's killed the performances as of late.

Yeah, I think people are really overdramaticizing the "push". She performed it at the EMAs and on BBC Radio 1, and that's about it I think. It was performed 3 times on major public platforms and completely tanked 100%. That is not overdramaticized. It is what happened. Even so, how it performs in Europe =/= how it performs in the US IIRC, Praying didn't even do that hot in Europe either.

I hear some posters commenting that people would be upset if Kesha didn't do the high note during "Praying". I'm not being rude but where is this big high note???? Kesha isn't even known for her vocals so I doubt people would care except her hardcore fans. If she gave a good performance the audience would enjoy it for the emotion behind it. It's not like the "AND I....." in Whitney's "IWALY" that everyone is waiting for?? Maybe I'm undermining the impact of Kesha's vocals????

I saw her perform this live during the Rainbow tour and it was honestly one of the most beautiful experiences I've had to date. It was like... a religious moment. And I'm atheist. I'm not being a crazy fan here, I just don't think there are many people who could experience this woman sing this song live and not feel something. It is an extremely powerful moment when she just spills her guts before you.

I'm not being a crazy fan here, I just don't think there are many people who could experience this woman sing this song live and not feel something. It is an extremely powerful moment when she just spills her guts before you. I have to echo these sentiments exactly. When I went to her Kansas City show it was just... a moment like I've never had before. She's a fun and fantastic performer with decent vocals, but when she does Praying, it's like 50 levels higher. Just so much raw emotion and power behind it. I was a blubbering idiot singing along through tears during Praying. It's also an experience to see it live rather than watching a video of her performing it live because you have a large mass of people experiencing this insane ethereal feeling with you, and for three and a half minutes, it feels like world peace. divasummer the high note in Praying is after the bridge as it transitions to the final chorus. "But some thing only God can forgive... WAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" She never does it live because it took her something like 12 takes in the studio to nail. It doesn't matter, though, because her lack of hitting that note is more than made up for by the power and emotion behind the rest.

With or without the high note, I think Praying makes the most sense for the Grammy's. This is the biggest platform she's ever had. Woman could be a good moment, but I think Praying is just so much more impactful, especially for her story, silencing people who still don't think she can sing, getting a message across, etc. Plus it's nominated, so that helps its cause too. I think she could make so much more of her performance from Praying than Woman.

LoL That's awesome and I can't believe there's a video reacting to that note. lol I don't see the big deal in that note. It was good. I just think that if she didn't do that note in a live performance it would be fine. People are looking for the emotion behind the song not that big note that has the chorus over it. I may be wrong though. BTW my original post wasn't supposed to be a big diss to Kesha.

It is a reach to think that people care enough to scrutinize Kesha like that. I think it is fair to say that the general public doesn't exactly tune in to her to that level.

The radio edit with "independent woman" is actually great, much better than the "work work" or "love your body" edits they did to Britney and Xtina.
I would love to see her perform Praying and Woman at the Grammy's. AND I wanna see her win!!
