Underdog? Camila I'd say was one of the more popular members. Granted, I thought her vocals were the worst of out anyone (her intonation especially). If she was so bad then why was she considered the lead vocalist of 5th harmony? She did sing lead on most of the songs. I don't know how that makes what I said any less valid. Have you even heard the awful, ear-grating high notes on the song of this thread? It's almost the Swae Lee falsetto on Rae Sremmurd's "Swang" levels of terrible.

Still not a valid point to make. Plenty of popular songs suck. Especially in the era of stans that would buy a Cabello track if she recorded herself eating cereal.

That point makes no correlation at all to the previous post. Talent doesn't always equate to success, and success doesn't always need talent. Dinah Jane and Ally Brooke were objectively the best singers in 5H. Camilla was the most popular because she had the it girl factor (If you want to call it that). I'm not saying she's a bad singer but she wasn't the best. Her team has been pushing and trying to create an image for her in Pop music and whatever their doing is paying off. Side Note: Can the stan war end now please. I'm not fond of the remix but if it will get the song into the top ten, let it be.

Now, I don’t think her intonation was the worst out of the group, but she wasn’t the best vocalist. However, she was lead because she was an early fan favorite from X Factor and had a very distinct tone. That’s all. Camila fans please stop with the underdog narrative. She was the favorite in the group from beginning. Most solos. She got a huge push when venturing off into her solo career. Nothing has been underdog about her career trajectory. She got a small amount of backlash for leaving the group. That doesn’t make her an underdog. Just say you like her and her music. Don’t do this revisionist history shit.

Man, they really "popped" up his vocals for this song. It doesn't even sound like him.
Pretty disappointed with this.

On her posts on her YouTube community page, which I believe was posted before the song came out (as she said it comes out at midnight tonight), she didn’t call this a country remix. She said that it has a similar feel/melodies to a country song and that she wanted to reimagine it at a later stage (now) with a country artist

I really think the contrast between the 'heavy' verse and the 'airy' pre-chorus really works well. And the chorus is the perfect mixture of both, it just works.
This being the original of course, the remix is nice but like most remixes just doesn't make itself better than the original.

The pre-chorus works well for the original, but the two of them together during the pre-chorus does not work well.

It's fine to think she was the worst singer. I and the public disagree however, which puts your opinion in the minority. Fifth Harmony didn't really pop off until they started pushing Camila as the lead with Sledgehammer. Live, she was always the best singer next to Lauren. At the end of the day, she's winning though. She was definitely an underdog in the pop-scene after she left the group. I don't think anyone expected this level of success, and her former band members didn't show much respect after paying her dust and publicly shaming and putting her in a negative light after she left, which they ended up doing what, a little over a year later? If Camila was still in the group, there's no way those jealous band mates (with the exception of Normani) would be supporting her without secretly being haters with the level of success she has now.

Honestly I rarely ever watched FH live, but from what I remember Dinah and Ally(?) we're always out of breath. I still think Normani and Lauren can breakout as well.

^ Camila had the best breath control. Singing and dancing in performances didn’t negatively impact her as much as Ally and Dinah, who greatly suffered. Dinah suffered partly because of her asthma. I don't know how that makes what I said any less valid. Have you even heard the awful, ear-grating high notes on the song of this thread? Camila was always pushed as the lead — from their very first single, “Miss Movin On”. She and Lauren were until it eventually became just Camila. So, that’s incorrect. There’s no polling data on who the public thought was the best singer, so you stop pulling s**t out of your ass. The band had issues with her not because of jealousy but because of personal conflicts and Camila wanting to take a break after their second album to pursue solo aspirations, which the others did not want. And each side had valid reasons for their stance on that position. She wasn’t an underdog. She had been working with big names and on solo material for an album way before she left the group. Anyone with two brain cells knew that the lead singer, the most popular singer leaving to go solo does not leave her in a disadvantaged position. She had clear industry connections. This narrative of being an underdog is false. Both Camila and 5H released statements about the split. 5H only negatively referenced it once during their VMA performance, which was several months after Camila had already launched her solo career with CITC. Can we just keep this thread on track and refocus on the cut-and-paste remix that was just released instead of rehashing the Camila/5H fight?

I agree though, let's keep this about the song and not different artists/groups. Camila was not the lead until Sledgehammer. You yourself just said it was her and Lauren as lead initially. That's debatable. Vocals were split evenly between all members on their EP. Then comes Reflection and aside from Boss, Camila was lead to the point where some members didn't even sing on a track (Dinah with no verse on Sledgehammer and Lauren with no verse on Worth It). There's no polling data on who is the best singer yet you're allowed to say she's the worst singer. The fact is the producers decided Camila would be the best person to sing lead vocals, the public has decided they like her solo material, that's more data to support my opinion than yours. It's my opinion and others that she was an underdog. Fifth Harmony only had 2 true hits. She was an underdog compared to other main pop girls. That's the potential she had. People pegged her to have the success of a Nicole Scherzinger.

popwizard Reading comprehension is an underused ability. I said she was a co-lead. She went from co-lead to a seemingly singular lead. Let’s just say that was a semantically disagreement. No one said she was the worst singer. I never stated that. So, again you’re pulling s**t out of your ass. Success does not correlate to (vocal) talent. She was lead because she had the most distinctive voice of the bunch. Think critically and logically, or is that too much to ask? Let’s cut the bulls**t there. I think your argument as to why she was an underdog is completely illogical, but you are entitled to your ridiculous opinion. I’m not going to spend anymore time engaging with someone of your nature.

You got me on the “worst singer” point, however your entire post appeared addressed to me because you directly referenced points that I had made within my post. Naos never made a point about Sledgehammer/lead vocals. I did. You were point-by-point making rebuttals to points raised in my post that is quoted within the post that you quoted. Outside of the “worst singer” gaff on my behalf, the rest of my post is upheld — reading comprehension statement as well.

I'll state a fact that everyone should agree with.Camila was the best all around performer in 5H. Singing, Dancing, stage presence combined.

I used to be against her, but now I'm neutral. This song is good and I can identify with, so I hope it gets to #1 on pop and top 10 on Hot 100.

Just to bring up one more point, since the irony of you bringing up "reading comprehension" is too hard to ignore. None of my post was directed toward you. I don't see where you mentioned Sledgehammer on the previous page, or even page 34. Where did you make a point about Sledgehammer? Leonagwen brought up her being the lead in defense of her being a good singer, and not the worst singer (which was brought up by Naos). Nothing in my post was a direct response to you, and you weren't quoted either. Her being an underdog was an open discussion that was being discussed by several people before you mentioned it in your post. Nothing was specific to you. So please don't come for me, cause I didn't send for you.

At this point even the girls have moved on from the 5H drama. I always thought Camila was one of the weaker links but someone clearly saw something special in her and in the end they were probably right.
