Today it was revealed that Rihanna's management has scheduled a writing camp next month for her ninth studio album.

Speaking exclusively to MTV News’ Tinea Taylor ahead of her performance at this year’s Isle Of MTV in Malta, RAYE told us she’s been invited to come and write for RIHANNA!
“I literally, like ‘thank you god’, have been asked to be part of the Rihanna writing camp, which is in a month’s time and I’m so excited!
“Obviously so many people are writing for her but to be asked and to be part of it and to be one step closer is a dream come true.”

A Twitter user also alleges that Right will be shooting the video for her lead single the few days following 4th of July.

I'm very interested to see what direction she goes in this time. Will she continue the artistic progression of ANTI, or will she lean more towards a more commercial sound.

Although no official date has been set, fans believe the album could come as soon as the fourth quarter.

Either way, I'm excited for whatever she has in store for us.

Honestly if Anti had underperformed I could see a justification for a commercial sound but after the era's success... She better keep the ambition high

Did Anti have any scheduled writers' camps? For some reason I keep thinking it didn't, but I think I just assumed that b/c of Kanye being the exec producer at first.

If I'm right on that, writing camp indicates a return back to a more concerted attempt at being commercially viable. Still, this is Rihanna, who never really stays in the same place for long, so I'm not expecting the the album to sound like a total trend chaser regardless.

Still holding out hope that we are about to get a reggae/dancehall album.

I can't wait for new Rihanna music! I am very excited because I have no clue what she wants to follow ANTI with but I'm here for it.
I'm crossing my fingers that WT reaches #1! Assuming the lead single also hits #1 maybe there is one or two more songs that can reach it. She's coming for Mariah 

I think she'll have 2-3 more successful eras (realistically speaking)

I love her, she's by far my favorite of all the current pop stars. Her music is everything, I never tire of it.

I enjoyed a lot of Anti, but not as much as Unapologetic; that album was fantastic. Hopefully we'll get a single by the end of this year.

TTT was literally thrown together in a matter of weeks. I can't see why the lead wouldn't drop by Sept/Oct.

Did RiRi record or demo CT? Or did she pass on it from start? As long as we don't anything as wretched as FFM, I'll be good. Unlike the others who only record once every 3 or 4 years, RiRi has an amazing catalog. Down the road, when people 'discover' her, they'll have a lot of material from which to choose and sample.

And I should have remembered, along with the link koolthing posted from August '15 there was word of her still soliciting songs around the end of December, cause that's when you were like "I swear if this Sia song is some 'rise up like a tsunami, tsunami, tsunamiiiii' mess" lol. I don't think anything that made it onto Anti in the end came from those writing sessions (which lbr were less planned and more panic-mode). All's well that ends well but I guess she said she doesn't want that kind of second-guessing herself ever again.

I think that Sia mentioned that she had played Rihanna new songs very recently in late 2015 (right around the time the AntiDiary thing was ongoing and Sia was on the SNL episode that Trump hosted). The closest thing to a proper writing camp (i.e. holing up w a bunch of writers like Beyonce did for the self-titled one) we heard about I think was that island getaway that Rihanna put up pictures from for the 1 year anniversary of the album. The only other stuff I can remember is people submitting stuff and going into the studio with her (Charli XCX was one of them, and Selena's Same Old Love came out of that I believe).

Excited for whatever comes next. ANTI was the messiest album release I've seen, and I disliked it on first listen but it ended up being my favorite 2017 album.

I want the quality she brought on the highlights of Anti over an entire album. Anti is by far her most inconsistent album for me post GGGB. You have genius sh*t like "Consideration," "Kiss It Better," "Needed Me," "Desperado," "Love On The Brain," etc. Then complete sh*t like "Pose" and "Woo" (which are the two worst songs she's ever recorded IMO). And then half-baked non-starters that are barely even interludes, "Yeah I Said It," "James Joint," 'Higher." So much of that album was wasted potential. Intriguing wasted potential, but still a waste. I want this album to have the focus that one lacked.

I really do need new Rihanna though. That DJ Khaled track is not cutting it for me, but still great to see her smashing.

Aside from that I would've so loved to see one more single from ANTI mainly either Desperado or Consideration

I hope the next album isn't rushed, I'd rather it take some more time and be more quality, cause mostly ANTI was worth the long wait.

It's her 3rd #1 there this year, and the 6th from Anti (TIWYCF also hit #1). It's the first album to have that many since the regular edition of Teenage Dream had 7 during 2010-2012.
