The autumns of 2009-2012 were everything because we got a new album from her each time. #fourthquarterqueen

Happy 8th(!) birthday to Only girl (in the world). It sure doesn't feel like 8 years.
Thirsty for new music too.

She has become such an icon. I NEVER would have known that 5head Island Girl telling people to run, run, run and scurrying across a dancefloor frantically would become what she has become today - ambassador, humanitarian, businesswoman, maker of ALBUMS and moods and vibes, bringing patois to the White People who thinks she isn't saying real words in her songs, unlikely smashes that people think will flop, plum acting roles, an IDGAF attitude that people have latched on to and love and a very cutting sense of humor. I do stan.

I wonder how she's gonna name the album. Fenty Music could truly be an iconic title with that lil' ode to Music of the Sun, especially if she does an upgraded version of the sound that album had. On the flip side, Fenty Music is already used by gazillion of people who spam her social media begging for new music so it wouldn't be as exciting if it ended up being the actual title. She unintentionally comes up with placeholder titles all the time. Everyone has been referring to their fave's upcoming untitled album as #X1,2,3, etc but she was the one who started it with #R8. And now with every pop girl branching onto the makeup world, I wouldn't be surprised if Last-Name Music becomes the new standard.

I just need her to put something out. Maybe I'm still spoiled from her 2009 - 2012 an album every year era. She's going to be up against some big names in the next half year with Beyonce, Adele, Mariah etc.

Even more recently Kylie Minogue did it with her 10th release X in 2007, Nelly had 5.0 in 2010, and of course Beyonce had 4 in 2011.

I'm talking about unofficial titles given by fans when referring to an upcoming album whose name hasn't been announced yet. Not actual official album titles given by the artists themselves. Like, instead of saying 'Rihanna is currently working on her upcoming 9th studio album of no name' people simply say 'Rihanna is currently working on #R9' lol

Mariah is an icon but chart-wise she's a non-entity now, unless Rih is planning to release a Christmas single.
Bey took a hit with EIL; I'm guessing a solo project will do much better but she's got no Pop support so while she might sell more than Rih, I don't think either would kill the other's album at all.
Adele is a big one but can she transition into streaming? The 25 sales are not happening again. Again, I don't think either act would kill the other's album.
The only thing that could hurt her era is Rihanna herself. She seems to be moving on from the tireless promo schedules, which is fine, but stuff like LOTB not getting a video or the ANTI release mess can't happen again.

Rihanna got her biggest hit at the height of the 21 campaign, and her last album saw her outperform Beyonce on Urban radio. If the material is there, they'll bite.

I remember seeing fans discuss "KP3" before PRISM dropped, as an example.

She got so lucky with the way Anti turned out as a success. Also LOTB becoming a hit was incredibly lucky, hits like that aren't always going to come that easy. She really should promote next era but she probably won't. Also I hope the videos are better this era, Anti's videos were average at best.

The success from ANTI wasn't luck. She was putting in work since 2005 and it finally paid off. The songs were good and radio ate it up. She finally had an era where she didn't have to shove a project down the public's throat.

She finally had an era where she didn't have to shove a project down the public's throat. Tbh she hasn't really extensively promoted an album since LOUD. She has done very minimal promo with Talk That Talk and Unapologetic. Especially in the US, she only really did promo for those albums during the release week, and with ANTI unless I'm missing something she only did Billboard and the VMAs months after the album release.
