So just as I thought…SB was just a big stage to promote her new business ventures lol.
She seems over the music industry, like a lot of the big artists of the 2010’s are and it’s understandable why. I’ll just enjoy the SB for what it is then and not expect an album ever 😂😭.

Well, it's likely they aren't the same people. There was real divide in terms of the Heard/Depp trial, and more so the reality is both of them deserve blame for the situation. Regardless by no means did Depp come out of that looking great, and more so you'd need to prove the same people criticizing Rihanna for this are the same ones who were against Amber before. If she does the Superbowl without releasing a new album shortly before or after, it will be one of the biggest trolls in music history. And all I can do is sit back and admire it. Lol right. At the same time, is the SB always tied to new albums? Last year was more of a 90s/00s throwback so it was its own thing. I don't know if J Lo and Shakira had new projects at the time, though both are past that period where, in general, people are clamoring for new music from them so I guess it's not the same. I don't think Maroon 5 had a new album when they did the show in 2019? I think Gaga and Coldplay had albums that were a few months old. So, it isn't necessarily uncommon for artists to do the halftime show without promoting new music, but of course since it's been so long since Rihanna released an album the expectation would be a bit different for her. It will feel like a troll to some, but here she is telling people months ahead to not expect it to be tied to a new album so at this point it shouldn't be an expectation. |

Savage x Fenty was an unethical business already so I don't really care tbh, this just makes it even worse. There are no good billionaires and Rihanna is a perfect example. You don't hoard wealth by being good and treating people right. This is a fast fashion brand with a scammy VIP subscription-based sales tactic and alleged child labor involvement, doing a fashion show on Amazon Prime (whose creator Bezos is currently being sued for allegedly not letting housekeepers at his mansion use bathrooms, leading them to have frequent UTIs). As inclusive and diverse as the presentation of the show has been, including great performances and music, drag queens, disabled models, trans models, models of all sizes and races, the business of it all has always been problematic. Depp involvement ruins the show entirely for me—doesn't mean I won't listen to Rihanna bops at all (she can keep my $0.08 from Spotify) but probably skipping her tour. Thankfully "Lift Me Up" is a lullaby that I do not intend to stream ever again, which helps in this moment, tho. What's next, DaBaby and Kanye as her Super Bowl Halftime guests? 💀 |

All I know is when she comes with material for her next album, their better be some reggae influenced stuff. I'd kill for more songs like Man Down, truly has become a career favorite from Riri in the long run for me. Her vocal tone being more rich going off of Lift Me Up and Born Again excites me to see how that will translate into R9.
