I like "What Was I Thinkin'", but #1 overall? Not buying that. He has so many other great songs I'd take over it.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this rankdown and followed along during the reveal process! It was my first time hosting a rankdown, so I don't know if I did an alright job, but I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did (especially those of you who had never participated in a rankdown before)! There are other country rankdowns that are in the submission stage so I hope you consider doing those as well (I need to work on them as well )! There's 2004 country, Kip Moore, Kenny Chesney, CMA song of the year nominees (1997-2016), 1998 country, and Kelsea Ballerini rankdowns that are up, although the Kelsea one is not taking submissions at least until her new album comes out in November. There's also a Keith Urban one that will open pretty soon if I'm not mistaken! This thread right here has all the information you need for country rankdowns: The official country rankdown thread
If you're into pop music as well, I hope to see some of you (more like a few of you I would imagine) in my next rankdown, the Miley Cyrus rankdown, which is open already! I'll be back to hosting country rankdowns sometime in the future since I have a Taylor Swift albums rankdown (at least for her first 3 or 4 albums she's country) and a Brad Paisley artist rankdown on the queue!

awesome job hosting! Cannot complain about the results as I love most of his songs. Surprised to see "Settle For A Slowdown" almost be #1 as it has never stood out to me as that popular. I love the song so I am super happy though!

"Every Mile a Memory" is a great song about tour (I think?) I love the harmony during the end of "Settle For A Slowdown". Also that ad-lib performance of the song in the music video "What Was I Thinkin'" isn't that bad but it is meh...The instrumental solo is not my favorite.

"Free and Easy" is a good song but the songs that I ranked before I like more. I love "Say You Do" it was almost my #1 and I thought it would be Top5 over here. "I Hold On" another song that I couldnt leave out my top5. Although I already knew it but making this rankdown made me sure that I like "Riser" album more than "Black" one. I wasnt hoping that my favorite would be #1 but I cant get tired of "What Was I Thinkin". It was very cool to participate on this one.Congrats! ;) fearlessarrow

Me having the top 2 closeness ratings lol. Not sure whether it is a good thing. You did a great job at hosting! Maybe I'll join the Brad Paisley rankdown too (if I am free at that time).

It's not really a good thing or a bad thing (depends on how you perceive it), it's just that your taste and countrymusicjunkie's, and yours and carriekins' were the two of the closest in any pairing in this rankdown (I'm not sure if that got across, my wording isn't the best)!

Sorry to subvert from "What Was I Thinking", but I want to post why "Long Trip Alone" has a special place in my heart. Long story ahead just FYI.
So I know that the song is always about finding that significant other and finding that someone to walk with for a while. I've never really thought that when listening to this song.
What "Long Trip Alone" represents to me is just finding a best friend or a really close friend in the darkest of times, lines like "Maybe I can feel you right beside me til I'm home" have always rang to me that you need a friend to rely on in your deepest and scariest times in your life, because you feel all alone.
This is the song I didn't audition with for Drama club, but it is the first song I've ever sang to someone else. I sang it to one of my closest friends when he was having doubts about our friendship and I have no regrets on doing that because not only did I sing it decently well, it made our friendship stronger.
What also makes "Long Trip Alone" amazing is 2 more things. 1. The music video. The scenery in that video is just glorious for that song. 2. The way Dierks Bentley sings "that we all must travel down" and "under the sun somewhere" gives me chills down my spine.
Just everything about this song is perfect. Also I have a bit of childhood nostalgia towards the music video because the music video ranked #32 out of #100 when in 2008 CMT did a 100 Greatest Videos airing. This was the song that got me into Dierks Bentley and in my opinion I believe that his artistic peak so far to me has been that stretch of 2006 to 2008 (pre Feel That Fire).

I rebounded from my floppage in the Tim McGraw rankdown!!! My #1 made it all the way to #2!!! Figured "What Was I Thinkin'" would take the crown anyways, but despite its overkill as a gold (radio airplay) hit, a deserved winner. Very happy with this top 5. You had to point that out, didn't ya?!?

You had to point that out, didn't ya?!? To be fair, ranking songs 14.12 places apart from each other on average (that's what you two did) in a 34-song rankdown is pretty impressive if you ask me! Yours and LBTrocks' taste were the furthest from each other than any other pairing of participants in this rankdown! If you do decide to take one comment about his taste being trash seriously, then you're the furthest away from "trash" taste lol

Lots of fun! Thanks for hosting! I love a good statistic so I really enjoyed checking out the rise and fall of each song and also the closeness stats at the end.

Had zaclord 🌈 not provoked you, the #1 would've been tied in points! "What Was I Thinkin'" still would've won though because it would've had more #1s than "Settle for a Slowdown" as I was planning to use number of #1 ranks as the tiebreaker. Worked out in my favor!

In a gif-less post, I am SO happy that "What Was I Thinkin'" won! It's easily my favorite song of his and probably why I enjoy so many of his upbeat, less serious songs like "Drunk on a Plane" and "Somewhere on a Beach". Dierks just has the best delivery for these songs that typically wouldn't like as much if someone else sang them. Also since LBTrocks since you and I had the same #1 I take back what I said about you having trash taste. But just make sure to relish in this moment because I guarantee we will never share the same #1 song ever again lol
