Since May 23, 2009, Drake has had 157 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. His latest single, “Signs,” which he premiered during Louis Vuitton’s SS18 men’s fashion show at Paris Fashion Week, entered the Hot 100 on July 5.



Over the last eight years, Drizzy has consistently had a song on the Hot 100. And with his latest additions, he’s extended his own lead for most Hot 100 appearances among soloists dating to the chart’s August 4, 1958 start. All 22 songs from his last album More Life charted on the Hot 100 upon their debut, as well.

Question: I know that Apple Music is counted in the streaming, but I'm confused about downloads. What I mean is a song I download from Apple Music to my phone, and then listen to it without really streaming it. How are those plays counted since I'm not streaming? Or is it consider a download and is thus reported as a download?

If it counts as streaming, then how does Apple Music know how many times I've played a song if I download it to my phone?

Pretty sure it's counted as a stream and if you play it offline it registers when you next connect to the internet. That's how Spotify works at least.

All plays from Apple Music count as streaming. iTunes and the music app on iOS refreshes every so often (regardless if you have an Apple Music subscription or not) to sync play counts, skips etc across devices that share the same Apple ID.

Wild Thoughts may have a chance, but Despacito would need to have an epic decline during the next few weeks. And since it's being held up primarily by streaming, especially the slow as fuck youtube, that's probably not gonna happen. Despacito is probably gonna get 14 weeks at least if Wild Thoughts is its only competition.

Isn't "Despacito" outselling "Wild Thoughts" 3:1 on iTunes though? Maybe they could discount "Wild Thoughts" in a week or two to try to get to #1.

I think that's the only way for Wild Thoughts to get to #1. Even with Rihanna's star power, it's still not enough to get to #1. It's gaining in airplay and streaming, while Despacito is wavering on peaked airplay, and declining despacito on every other category. Wild Thoughts needs a .69 discount, if it can get to #1.

These 1-2% weekly drops for Despacito despite an airplay peak are seriously making me wonder what has a chance in hell of dethroning it before 15 weeks. I thought Taylor could do it, but now I'm not so sure. I'm starting to think it might dethrone PRA for the decade-end at this point.

Due to people learning that it broke the record. It will ware of soon, and this may actually damage Despacito.
People that would buy it in the future, bought it now. It may lose longevity because of this.

It's being outsold by Despacito by at least 4:1 or more. The only area WT is gaining is airplay, and possibly streaming, (Even though it did slip harder on on-demand streaming more than Despacito) and YouTube, Despacito is a fucking monster with both versions keeping it propped up.
