That rave.dj thing that was posted in another thread kinda helps tbh, I think it's operating on what's accessible in the US, because there are videos it doesn't find that I KNOW I can get to (such as a couple of Ricki-Lee and Human Nature videos), plus it finds videos that I can't access through YouTube in Australia (like Michael Paynter's VEVO uploads).

Hey guys! I've got nothing to update on the participants front (because there have been no early submissions yet rip) but to try and build up some hype I'm revealing some honourable mentions through the lead-up to the main reveal and through the game itself. There are 25 honourable mentions in total, mainly comprised of songs that I cut from the initial list (although some I hadn't considered for the main list in the first place). With just under five weeks to go before deadline, there is still plenty of time for submissions so please don't feel pressured to participate! Today I have two honourable mentions, and we dip into the multitude of chart entries from the Australian version of the hit franchise 'The Voice'. Studio versions of 'The Voice' performances are a familiar concept Stateside - plenty of times I've seen posts saying 'X is Y on iTunes when you remove The Voice songs' - but due to Australia's vastly smaller size compared to the US, it became much easier for performances to not only chart, but to chart well (if only for a week). Ben Hazlewood is actually a New Zealander, having first appeared in 2006 on 'New Zealand Idol' as a teenager, placing 4th in the 3rd season at the age of 17. Six years later, he auditioned for the debut season of 'The Voice' when it came to Australia in 2012. His audition was successful, turning the chairs of judges Delta Goodrem and Joel Madden. Ben chose to be on Team Joel, when he reached the top 8; missing out on a spot in the final 4 to Sarah De Bono. While the latter is appearing in this rankdown with a non-Voice performance, Ben's only charting entries on the ARIA Chart are his performances of 'I'm With You' by Avril Lavigne and 'Lego House' by Ed Sheeran. So basically this was all I had to work with as far as including Ben in this game and he got cut lol. :'( Luke Kennedy is a classically-trained singer who appeared on the second season of The Voice AUS. On multiple occasions during the season he was afforded the opportunity to showcase this training, such as in his audition piece 'In Giorno Per Noi (A Time For Us)' and in later performances 'Time To Say Goodbye' and 'Caruso'. Luke was championed by coach Ricky Martin, and he ultimately placed second in his season behind Harrison Craig (who isn't even appearing as an honourable mention). This song is originally by John Farnham, who is highly regarded as a legend in Australian music culture. This song, despite only charting for a single week (a common pitfall of Voice-related songs) is Luke's second-highest ARIA chart appearance, behind 'Time To Say Goodbye' which peaked at #8 following the season's grand finale.

Four weeks to go before deadline; still nothing yet in the way of submissions. I'm not worried yet lmao but if nobody submits for this soon it's at risk of flopping. Anyway, it's time for a couple more honourable mentions! This song first gained life in 2008, when Sia co-wrote and released this song with American DJ Lauren Flax; this version reached the top 50 on the Billboard dance charts. Sia would re-record her own version of the song for her 2010 album 'We Are Born', this time produced by long-time collaborator Greg Kurstin. This version was her first single to appear in the top 50 on the ARIA singles chart. Its music video (which apparently is on her VEVO page but seems to be geo-blocked here) features Sia in a mocked-up karaoke game performing the song as the 'player' switches through various settings. The third single from Ricki-Lee's third studio album 'Fear & Freedom' was a commercial disappointment, following the success of previous singles 'Raining Diamonds' and 'Do It Like That'; both of those were top 20 hits, while 'Crazy' barely made the top 50. The song may be seen as a generic paint-by-numbers pop-dance song now, but at the time this was my favourite single of the 'Fear & Freedom' era. The music video IMO, is Ricki's second-best video (behind 'Come & Get In Trouble With Me') with her playing multiple characters in an insane asylum. Behind the scenes footage revealed that the location used for the video was an actual mental institution in Sydney that was abandoned.

These HM's were meant to be up on Monday #SlackAF This is Conrad Sewell's debut single, released in Australia in early 2015. The song barely scraped the top 40 locally, and he would not see the top 10 until 'Start Again' topped the chart. The song also served as an attempt to break Conrad in the US market, with the backing of iHeartMedia and their On The Verge artists program; but it became one of several songs that stalled out at the completion of the deal's six-week term. His sister Grace would more greatly benefit with her own debut single without the deal, although neither artist has given the US a second attempt after their debut efforts. 'Enough' (featuring American rapper Gizzle) was released as the third official single from Delta Goodrem's 5th studio album 'Wings Of The Wild'. Without 'The Voice' as a platform to perform the song (as judges tend to flog their own material at times) the song failed to meet the same heights set by preceding singles 'Wings' (#1) and 'Dear Life' (#3). The song features what I believe to be Delta's most impressive vocal performance (hitting A5's in full belt is NOT easy!). The single's weak performance would not be the era's worst, with follow-up single 'The River' missing the top 50 altogether.

#LateAgain #Whoops After two flop singles and a cancelled third attempt, Ricki-Lee eventually scrapped her original 3rd studio album 'Hear No, See No, Speak No' and started from scratch on a whole new record. It was this album that led her to part ways with her then-label Shock Records (Australia's largest independent label) when she and the label did not agree on the album's hit potential. When she brought the album to EMI, they were a lot more enthusiastic about the material and 'Raining Diamonds' was released as her comeback single in 2011. The song is notable for having been co-written by Billy Mann and Boyblue (David Schuler), who are famous for their work with de facto Queen of Australia P!nk (among others). The single became one of two hit singles from the 'Fear & Freedom' era, with the follow-up 'Do It Like That' improving on this song's chart performance. 'Like A Drum' was released as the lead single from Guy Sebastian's 7th studio album 'Madness' in late 2013. It is his 12th (and at present, last) top 10 single in Australia, also enjoying success in Sweden. The single is also his second song to appear on a Billboard chart; as while a push to radio was unsuccessful, the song peaked in the top 20 on the Billboard dance chart thanks to its remixes (including one by The Chainsmokers prior to their commercial breakout).

The only song by Ricki-Lee that matters is "U Wanna Little of This".

The only song by Ricki-Lee that matters is "U Wanna Little of This". 1) The original 'Can't Touch It' is superior. :sip2: 2) That'll be in the next part (which based on sluggish response to this, will only span 5 years instead of the full decade)

"Can't Touch It" doesn't hold a candle to "U Wanna Little of This". Not a one. The vocals sound lazy and unenergized on the original beat whereas the remix gave it life. Ricki-Lee is lucky that boring song got a much-needed second wind.

Bish, 'U Wanna Little Of This' f**ked up the whole chorus by cutting off the last part. :sip2:

This Lorraine Ellison cover is 'The Voice' inaugural winner Karise Eden's sole chart-topper, but as a studio version of a Voice performance it was a case of literally #1 and done. All four finalists in the grand finale charted multiple songs following the season's completion, and while Karise held four of the top five post-show it was one of her performances that led the pack. However, due to its nature of being a 'Voice' performance once it charted the sales dropped right off and it was out of the top 50 the following week. Still, #1 and done is a rare feat and this is why the song has been included as an honourable mention. Bella Ferraro's career has appeared to be short-lived. Despite placing 4th in her season of The X Factor, she has only released two singles and no album. Follow-up single 'Forget You' (featuring Will Singe) only made it as far as the 70's on the ARIA chart, so it was ineligible for inclusion, but 'Set Me On Fire' (which spent a sole week in the top 40) got cut. At least it's an honourable mention? The problem for this song was timing; bush fire season in Australia is taken seriously during summer, when this song was released. Songs that mention or reference fire tend to get blacklisted, so they don't receive airplay or promotion to avoid insensitivity. This negatively impacted 'Set Me On Fire' and 'Burn It Down' by Ricki-Lee - both singles released in December 2012 that were beginning to gain traction before they were prematurely killed off.

Deadline is supposed to be in a few days, but the only list I've received at this point is Will's. Now I'm willing to keep the due date open ended until I have a minimum of 10 lists (mine + at least 9 others) but please think about setting time aside for this if you're still interested in participating. Thank you~
