In what is probably the most predictable finish in the history of predictable finishes, Thriller is our Halloween #1! It's the only song that no one ranked in the bottom half of the rankdown. Has that ever happened before? I feel like there is always one stray zombie who goes against the crowd. Thank you all for participating/watching/otherwise indulging my eternal childlike love of holidays! If you're going out tonight have fun, be safe, and if you encounter a guy with a Macy's tag and a moustache offering you candy just politely avert your eyes and go find the nearest adult to help you find your parents!

I hope that Thriller does not win Michael Jackson Rankdown though. While it is a nice song, he has way better than it IMO.

I hope that Thriller does not win Michael Jackson Rankdown though. While it is a nice song, he has way better than it IMO. I wouldn't bet on it. The winner there will most likely be Billie Jean or Man in the Mirror.

Glad to have Rhiannon as a P-P-PERFECT RANKING!! It was almost a tie with Hotel California :) Yeah, I guess it was Thriller's to lose given the topic, but this time I didn't rank songs based on their Halloweenness but on how much I liked the songs, and yeah, Thriller is good but wasn't as good as 8 other songs for me Awesome to see Zombie at #3 though!! Sad to see Hotel not in the Top 5 and Creep too low :( The Florence & The Machine song was another great discovery for me! Thanks for such a fun RD with a good bunch of interesting discoveries

Haven't been keeping up with this, but props to peacebone for tanking "Hotel California". An overlong mediocrity that has severely grated on me from overplay. Glad to see it miss the top 5. "Thriller" is an obvious winner, so I can't really argue against it...even if "Zombie" and "In the Air Tonight" have had much a greater effect on me, personally. Thanks for hosting, Cynthia! Loved the extreme variety of the list, even if there were some songs that I wish could have been chosen over some of what made it on. Liked the presentation and the fonts that you used, too.

20. Beyonce - Haunted Oh I forgot about her. Her songs are sometimes pretty creepy. The music videos too.
19. Rockwell - Somebody's Watching me This should have been in everyone's top 10. Such a classic song and the Paranoid theme is perfect for today. True Story: This song actually got it's big break because of Michael Jackson's backup vocals. I remember the dee jay always telling us the backups were M.J.
18. Danny Elfman - This Is Halloween I like the kookie music. It really fits Halloween, but you should have included "Dead Man's Party" in this rankdown. That's a Danny Elfman classic, and I think it would have made Top 10 easily?
17. Florence and The Machine - Seven Devils I had never heard this one. The music and theme gave witch vibes. I can picture this type of music used for conjuring and other evil stuff.
16. Radiohead - Creep I put this one higher because it's my favorite Radiohead song, but this has very little Halloween theme at all.
15. Nelly Furtado - Maneater This song is terrible. For a cannibal Female vibe; I would have preferred Total Coelo "I Eat Cannibals". Even 'Dracula's Tango" . Now that's a song.
14. Shakira - She Wolf Now here is a woman that can eat me anytime. I think this is her last true great song.
13. AC/DC - Highway To Hell So much scary shit revolved around this song. Includong Bon Scott's death. That alone should have put it in the top 5. Also listen to Marilyn Manson's version of the song.
12. Hall & Oates - Maneater Now this is a great Cannibal themed song. A true classic.
11. Ray Parker Jr. - Ghostbusters Silly as fuck, but if you are from the 80's; you gotta love it.

The top 10 was pretty weak. Not the songs, but the rankings themselves. I guess Rihanna and Ga-Ga are pretty scary on their own. I like the love for the classics,.......
"Hotel California" was robbed. That should have been #1 hands down. The song is basically the band's take on the Twilight Zone. A one way trip to hell. "they stab it with their steely knives, but they just can't kill the beast. It's basically the perfect Rock n Roller dreams became a nightmare song. You meet a hot babe, she shows you a fantasy world that turns out to be hell. happens to me all the time.

Great #1 (though I prefer Zombie). The iconic #1 Halloween song. Surprised Riri, Shak, or Furtado were out so early.

10. Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear The Reaper You all better start fearing him after this rank.
9. Pink - Funhouse I like Pink. This song is cool
8. Lady Ga-Ga - Monster The song's melody isn't so bad. I hate the vocal effects in that "he ate my heart" line. and I hate the fact that that part sticks to you after the song ends.
7. Eagles - Hotel California Ridiculous rank. This should have came with a #1 tag attached to it.
6. Rihanna - Disturbia She the one who took a major dump on the Soft Cell classic. I cannot stand this person. Her music is disturbing. Her videos are disturbing. This ranking is disturbing.
5. Phil Collins - In The Air Tonight Not one of my favorite Phil Collins' song, but it's from the 80's and that means its a classic. Good job.
4. Stevie Wonder - Superstition Happy to see this one get Top 5.
3. Cranberries - Zombie Best Cranberries song ever. Zombie themed songs deserve top 3.
2. Fleetwood Mac - Rhiannon Witching season deserves a song about witches. Surprising but great song.
1. Michael Jackson - Thriller This one is a classic. Vincent Price hit the mark with the intro and voice over effects. The music video is iconic.
While my #1 song was not the #1 Halloween themed song here, this was still a fun ranking to partake in. Looking forward to the next one.
