I love the pre-chorus like everyone else (especially the 2nd one with the ad libs), not sure how I feel about the chorus though.
Not sure how this will do on radio though. I could see it exploding out of the gate but fizzling before reaching top 10.

I don't hear Lorde at all on this. Not sure where this comparison is even coming from. ...especially on that second verse...and the "Locked me up..." cadence is very The Louvre. |

I really like pretty much the entire song except the chorus. Pre-chorus truly is fire. BUT you start to jam a little bit to it by the time it comes around in the last chorus. I admit the heightened instrumental of the final chorus does make me jam a bit. |

The Ohs in the chorus are hurting the song in my opinion.
Sounds like a more potent Swish Swish otherwise. Taylor is taking no prisoners this time.

I like this, it reminds me of Britney Spears. Omg, Britney would have killed the vocal on this song -- I think I would like these lyrics more coming from her too, lol. But I do like it! The only part I didn't love was the 2nd verse -- I was hoping she'd keep the pace/beat up after the chorus. And I do think a lot of the lyrics are great -- just too repetitive at some points. |

If there's one thing Taylor Swift knows how to do, it's get attention. This song will do it. Yea this is the lead single, but it's also the "I'm back and brand new, bitches!" And I'm glad she took the risk. I think it will pay off even if the song doesn't have longevity. Everyone will be sharing this in social media with "wtf this is taylor Swift?!?!!!"
But including the "the old taylor is dead" aspect is interesting, because it implies the rest of the era will be different as well. She plays the pop game better than anyone, so I'm excited to see this play out.

What surprises me the most is that the majority of the posters in this thread actually like/love it when they had mixed thoughts on "Shake It Off". That's surprising.
