Not sure about the song as a whole but the pre chorus is fire.

It's definitely different for her. I like it on first listen.
This better get an epic video.

The verses for this song are great, and the production is this weird electro-pop/rap that I think I kind of like. And that build-up to the chorus is amazing, but the chorus itself... pretty weak to be honest. After the amazing build-up, the chorus is disappointing, and that bridge, especially the "The old Taylor is dead" line is disappointing. I don't even know if this is a diss to about the Kimye thing or to Katy though, but I think I kind of like some of the lyrics being a diss either way in the pre-chorus is what sells the song for me. That and I have a soft spot for certain rhythmic claps. I like this, and I can see this being a grower though.

This is really good. I love it.
The chorus uses the same melody as "I'm Too Sexy" by Right Said Fred. Richard and Fred Fairbrass are credited as writers.

I like the verses but that repetitive chorus is annoying. This sounds like a mix between Britney and Lorde.

Not here for Taylor coming back with a diss track. Anyway this is definitely a grower -- not amazed by first listen but I can see why this can be a hit (apart from the simple fact this is Taylor).

LOVE the vibe of the song. The pre-chorus is AMAZING ("but I got smarter I got harder... part)! I'm not really a fan of the "look what you made me do" part but it'll grow on me for sure since Taylor songs always do.
Normally I would say I feel like this song is the type of song that would flame out in several weeks on radio, but it's Taylor so idk maybe not.
I wonder if she can get more rhythmic airplay this time around ("Bad Blood" was an exception due to the remix) since I feel this song is more suited for rhythmic than songs from 1989 ever was.
"Cuz she's dead" part is hilarious lol

I was about to say the chorus is terrible... sounds like a bad Fergie song.
The whole thing sounds a bit contrived for some reason.

Usually her songs are guilty pleasures for me but this is really bad imo.

This sounds like a song from a soundtrack of a bad 80s movie.

This is complete knockout. Doesn't sound like anything on radio right now, but it still sounds like Taylor.
I don't think it'll stick around forever like Shake It Off, but I'm guessing they have a second single waiting to take the baton.
Regardless, fantastic.

Listened to it so many times already haha. I hear the "I'm Too Sexy" now and I get the Britney vibe (especially Womanizer's chorus).
She's a very capable writer but the chorus doesn't show it, but it's honestly the type of polarizing chorus that I feel like radio will eat up. The production is going to fit in so well with radio right now as well, and I love the minimalist production and all the background vocals and echoes.
I'm willing to bet she has FAR safer songs on the album, but this song honestly fits the visual aesthetic released so far and the production is on point. "Shake It Off" was a safe plunge into her first pop album. This song will definitely work for this "Reputation" as a lead, because she will have a lot more to give I'm sure.

This is so fucking bizarre. Good for Taylor for taking a huge risk. This definitely sounds like Fergie/Gwen Stefani/Nelly Furtado but they all do it better. I wasn't instantly inspired to replay it which doesn't bode well but I will give it a chance. She can do (and has done and hopefully WILL do) better than this for the rest of the album though. Perched for that video, regardless!

Verses are decent, pre-chorus is great, the actual chorus is meh and bridge is great. I'm sure it'll grow on me.

I know it'll be one of my favorite songs of the year but for now, some parts of the song kinda sound like funny/awkward Taylor. I thought she was going down the "Shake It Off" road.

It's a statement, that's for sure!
I like it? But, I dunno. There's a lot to think about with it. I could totally see it exploding out of the box and then dying a quick death.

All I know after hearing this, is that this sounds like a smash hit and I love it. Well done, Taylor. It's instant to me.
