After 3 listens, this is one of my favorite singles from her. Not surprised the chorus is throwing some off, but I really like it. The "drama drama" part of the second verse is probably the part that I'm not fully here for yet, but it's nothing major.
I don't agree with the "reinvention" comment. This is an outgrowth of the elements that made her last album, but it's very smartly done to fit the contemporary scene.

Clearly about Kim and Kanye LOL. I thought Bad Blood was juvenile but the whole "I don't like you" sounds straight from the playground. I decided to play it again and I am nodding my head with that chorus but yeah, the Lorde influence is all over this, especially on that second verse...and the "Locked me up..." cadence is very The Louvre. This should have come out earlier in the summer, imo.

^The "drama, drama" part is by far my least favorite part of the song. It's kinda funny tbh

The chorus uses the same melody as "I'm Too Sexy" by Right Said Fred. Richard and Fred Fairbrass are credited as writers. I cannot stop laughing right now that she sampled this.

The chorus is what holding it back. Overall, it is okay but kinda forgettable

This is terrible. She needs to stop hanging around Lorde. I miss the pop perfection of her last eras singles.

I really don't like it. :( It sounds like I Don't Want to Live Forever which I never got into either.

knew she'd go down the trap-ish lane with the instrumental as soon as I saw the album cover. Would surprise me if this had a long life on radio though, seems too repetitive and flat to carve out an impressive run beyond the obvious Taylor Swift hype wave.

Taylor merchandising hip hop slang with the "REP" hats is particularly cringey.

Not a big fan of this aside of the pre-chorus, like everyone else. I was hoping for something more of a song-along, not centered around this petty bs drama she creates. This is kinda dark too, and borderline childish and over-the-top. Glad it appears to be more about Kanye/Kim than Katy.

It's official, she's become so self aware at this point, she'll soon become an all powerful snake queen!

This sounds like an SNL parody of herself but, like, I don't hate it?
Edit: what about this sounds like Lorde exactly? This is pretty far from that, at least from what I'm hearing.

On first listen, this is different and kinda weird and there's a whole bunch of elements that are a bit obnoxious.
I'm going to be obsessed with this by the end of the day.
(Is anyone else reminded of Gwen's "What You Waiting For"?

This is really good and it's definitely an improvement to "Shake It Off" in terms of lead singles.

I don't hear Lorde at all on this.
Not sure where this comparison is even coming from.

This reminds me of Meghan Trainor in places, and that's not a positive.

My initial reaction is that she wasted such an amazing pre-chorus on such a.. weird song?
This is the first time I've been on the fence about a Taylor song out of the gate.

I really like pretty much the entire song except the chorus. Pre-chorus truly is fire.

So, what are the chances of this getting to #1 on the Hot 100 to finally topple "Despacito"?

The LYRICS video already has 500k views I've already listened to the lyric video probably 10 times right now, I think I may just listen to this for the rest of the night.

I really like pretty much the entire song except the chorus. Pre-chorus truly is fire. BUT you start to jam a little bit to it by the time it comes around in the last chorus.
