I still think that the label is causing this to fall so quickly. Sure it’s callouts aren’t the best but it isn’t like this is common and I’m sure many many songs have had much worse callouts. That isn’t to say that I don’t think that it would be falling now anyway, maybe even with -300s, but these are just way too big and consistent to be natural. We saw from her label holding back songs from airplay and then shooting this to #1, they are perfectly capable of getting radio to do what they want

You make some very good points ^, and I agree with a lot of it. I don’t really have a lot to say though about it so please don’t think I am dismissing your post, but I do actually agree now with a lot of what you said. However, I guess my question now is - why is her label doing nothing to stop it? Again, my last point, her label seen clearly perfectly capabale of getting radio to do what they want, so why don’t they stop these huge falls (not getting it to increases again but not as major falls). One could say it is because radio is now out for Taylor and hates her/this song so naturally you would except Ready For It to fall, but the opposite is happening. So maybe the label isn’t causing this to happen but doesn’t care that it is happening and doesn’t really have an issue with it. I mean it raked up a LOT of records going up the chart, and now raking up a lot on its way down the chart. If Ready For It is a hit, that could be really good spin for the era (huge record breaking hype, and even despite the huge recording breaking crash, came back just as strong with round 2)

It'd be a waste of time/resources and ultimately burn goodwill with radio stations. That's why pushing to to #1 in the first place seemed so questionable.

Jesus I bet the label would pay good money to have this purged already.

Were "Born This Way" and "Hold It Against Me" really that polarizing? To me they were just underwhelming.

I don't think "Hold It Against Me" was polarizing, but "Born This Way" definitely was.

I don't think "Hold It Against Me" was polarizing, but "Born This Way" definitely was. Yeah, the lyrics were polarizing. Anyway, I don't think it was a smart move from Taylor to start this era with a diss track, even though the song generated tons of hype.

I don't understand the theory that the label is somehow pushing radio to drop this. Why would the label push for this to go #1, just to push it off radio right after? And if the label wanted to push radio to drop this, wouldn't they be pushing for RFI to get bigger spins so it's Top 10 by album release?

And if the label wanted to push radio to drop this, wouldn't they be pushing for RFI to get bigger spins so it's Top 10 by album release? Well just to play along....the label could have noticed the callouts for the song were bad, fast-tracked it since it was close to #1 to snag the pole peak bragging rights and then encouraged radio to drop it so that it wouldn't be the main song in rotation and in audience's ears album release week, inturn dropping the new RFI video etc. Not saying that's how it happened, but it is plauisble.

Are you serious or just joking? The song has like 5k spins. It's mathematically impossible for its bullet to remain above -4000 and for the song to keep losing -500, -600 on a daily basis.

586 spins yesterday, so not quite "dead" at radio. WPRO-FM played it this morning too

Yeah we're joking. There is no way for this to recover, and yeah the spin losses will probably get smaller now - but that said, I still see it being 4000~ spins and #24 on Sunday, then out of the top 50 by the following week.

It had 681 spins today and lost 686. It literally lost more than the amount of spins it has... Update: 1029-483 = 546 spins 745-412 = 333 spins Purge level, roughly, will be appx 100 spins/day. She started at 2000 daily spins two freaking weeks ago, so she's 90% of the way there.

There must be some sort of re-calibration or panel shuffling going on with AC if this actually made minor gains.
