This is interesting... it's definitely got Antonoff written all over it. Lorde stares intently in the background. It's catchy af, but I've yet to be completely won over by the new direction. I wasn't ready for the old Taylor to die. I'm anxious to see what happens next, though. GIRL, I am so ready for Evil Olivia Pope! The old Liv can't come to the phone right now...

The "chorus" is totally Black Eyed Peas. It mostly reminds me of the verses of "Meet Me Halfway".

Uhhh... at that tour merch tho. We sell snake rings like that by Thalia Sodi for less than $10 that look 100 times better. Not the rings.

I haven't even listened to Melodrama yet (I know, I know, I'll get around to it) but I do hear the Lorde-ish undertones somewhat and if this ends up being a radio smash when Green Light couldn't gain any traction Imma be salty on Lorde's behalf.

This is the kind of song that's really easy to hate if you hate Taylor. And one that's really easy to love if you love Taylor. I love Taylor and I am not feeling this on my first few listens.

You must listen to it soon! I get "The Louvre" teas from Melodrama on certain parts of the song which I am totally here for as I love that song.

Right Said Fred has responded to their song "I'm Too Sexy" being interpolated into this.

ABC's TGIT promo released immediately proves leaks can be contained if a team really wants to - that deal had to have been made weeks ago. It's not like they'd sign-up for something completely unknown - much less have the appropriate video, etc.

It's 8am. I woke around 7:10am. When I say it has been on repeat non stop since I woke I mean it has been on repeat non stop since I woke bar a second I had to pause it. Oh my God I am obsessed with this!! This is not what I expected at all but it is incredible!! Sure the chorus is disappointing, but it works perfectly with the song. The verses, pre chorus (!!) and bridge are amazing. My favourite part of the entire song though has to be the intro, especially how it lines up perfectly with the end of the song. When I was first listening, I had to check my phone to make sure the song was over and that wasn't the start of a drawn out outro. Welcome back, Taylor! ETA: The layers of vocals you can hear make this so so much better

This is actually soooo good. Parts of it remind me of The Louvre by Lorde. The first verse and chorus aren't that good but from the second verse the song gets really amazing. Love it!

Immediately had to Google search to see if Katy or Kanye had tilted stages on any of their tours. Kanye had that suspended/floating one on his last tour, maybe that was the reference? Not that there was any doubt but here are a couple of other views from another date on that tour. The lighting panels above the floating platform were the parts that could tilt. I'm all for attention to detail but there is something unhealthy about Taylor following Kanye's tour that closely.

Does anyone think this will get a music video or just have a lyric video? I really hope this gets a proper music video.

She had a chance to actually let us into her perspective into her "feuds" or whatever you wanna call them, and instead, she just said a bunch of poetic lines in the verses that say "I hate you, look at what you made me do". There's no substance to this song. She's known for being such a great storyteller in her music, and instead, she releases a Meghan Trainor-esque generic pop song coupled with cheap sounding production. This is equally as cringeworthy as Katy Perry's "Swish Swish". The "old Taylor's dead line" was the nail in the coffin lmao. So tacky, and this is coming from someone who has been a casual fan throughout her entire career

I knew before I even logged in, that the main complaint here would be the "lack of chorus". I feel Pop listeners like their music so bland, boring & the same. Â Same song structure. Â Same boring melodies. Â And are quick to say something doesn't have a chorus if it doesn't sound like the typical Barney sing-a-long stuff that plaques a lot of huge Pop singles like "Roar" or "We Are Never Getting Back Together". Â So many of these 30 year old women have been making music that just seems better suited for little girls IMO. Â And that's why there's always such a disconnect when many of them decide to "grow up". Â See: Katy Perry I applaud Taylor for not falling into the same generic Pop trap that has plagued other artists' recent efforts. It's edgy, it's theatrical, & more importantly, it's totally unexpected. Â I love that she used the beat from a scene in Mean Girls. Â And I love the Kill Bill feel in some of the lyrics. Â I feel like Taylor is always playing chess. Â Can can we talk about that bridge? Â GEEZ! Â Chills! Taylor just gets it. But is this the type of song that will sell a crazy amount of albums? Â Not sure. Â Single 2 will likely feel more anthemic and what people are used to even if it does have a fresh spin on it. Great comeback! So you're essentially just saying you hate Max Martin. He revolutionized pop music with those "Barney" melodies and has worked with almost every major artist in the industry since 2000, including Taylor herself. I'd take a good old fashioned MM melodic chorus anyday over a I'm Too Sexy/Me Too sounding chorus. People like pop music because they want to SING to it

I was only wondering since so many songs recently have only had lyric videos. I much prefer music videos so I really hoped this would get one.

I'm pretty sure tilted stage means that they put her on a pedastal hoping for her to fall. Not a literal tilted stage at a tour. Oh for sure, all the lyrics mean something pertaining to herself. But I also think most of the lyrics were meant to be a lowkey jab at Kimye at the same time. The next line after tilted stage is "the role you made me play of the fool" so she's probably still sore about being set up by Kanye and all his hidden cameras. The folks at genius.com seem to think differently and interpret every lyric as a swipe at Katy though. Who knows. I just know this song was a mess.

As I wrote in her thread The lyrics are scary As if written for horror cartoon Or Tim Burton movie
I dont think she will ever have a boyfriend after this. Boys will be scared
The song is catchy, like it

LMAO. This song is not good. Nothing like her 1989 singles, which were at least somewhat decent pop. This is a borefest, goes nowhere and it seems like I'm hearing some demo from The Black Eyes Peas back in 2005.
And I'm living for the mixed reactions this is getting on Twitter even from Taylor superfans. It must be hard to pretend not to hate the song you have been anticipating for years.

Available now on all streaming platforms. Thanks for proving my point.

Kanye used to bash Taylor, Jay, Apple, Beyonce and everyone else from that "tilted stage". But it also is the meaning you provided. Great songwriting, tbh.

The hook is unorthodox but it will stick in your head like a motherfucker...and the way she sounds in this song is so sexy. Probably my 2nd favorite single of hers behind Blank Space
