Can someone confirm if this has a radio deal? I'm really curious how the numbers will turn out. I mean, I already heard it on my station but it wasn't an iHeartMedia station. And they're ALWAYS late with new music. To be fair, there's always a debate about whether it's explicitly a "deal." But the simple answer to your question is, yes, this is receiving hourly (if not more) airplay support from the iHeart stations. As well as many other stations. It's going to have one of those massive first days (far more than the usual ~1300 spins you see for the iHeart-only "deals").

For some odd reason, maybe it's the melody of the song it's taken from, but I feel like strutting when the chorus hits I was thinking the exact same thing

Our queen of pop people, get ready for that long awaited #1 debut, and the dethroning of Despacito! But Despacito will more than likely return to the top the following week/s. Taylor will have the video and increased streaming/radio to offset the digital sales. I think she's be #1 for at least two weeks in a row here

There's definitely no guarantee Despacito even gets a non-consecutive 17th week.

That 80s Dusty Springfield thing she has on her head in the lineup scene isn't good, but everything else in the stills looks great.

Tried again to get into this but just no. That chorus is even worse than Ariana's Focus. It ruins the entire thing. And the lyrics is just some variation of the same schtick she's been doing since ever.
Had this been released by any other female artist, it would flop badly. As it is, it's going to get big out of the gate but I don't really think it will have that much staying power. Not like some of her other singles.

Love the prechorus, wish the actual chorus was more "explosive". It's actually a bit of a buzz kill. I still like it but honestly I expected a bit better? I'm sure it'll grow on me.

Unlike most people here, apparently, I've got the chorus stuck in my head. The break it provides from the pre-chorus is great. It has 'hit' written all over it.

This really makes me excited for the album. Glad she's not taking herself so seriously.
I was really nervous about a "Russian Roulette" situation.

I cringe more each time I even see this title. Taylor cried to be “excluded from this narrative,” but once again, she inserted herself back into it when everyone else left it to die. Even the title screams victimizing - look what YOU made me do. No responsibility for her actions but rather they're a direct result of other people influencing her (what a great message for young girls!). Granted she's way more assertive and calculating IRL but I'm so over these characters she tries to sell us on.

The hair is exact the same from her 80's. Look at the name of the album. If it is half the perfection of Reputation by Dusty I'll be fine.

I love this, but I agree that the killing of "Old Taylor" is so ridiculous.
I do hope this is one of only one or two Antonoff songs on the record, as those were the weaker ones on 1989. She tries so hard to fit lyrics into his premade beats, and it usually ends up being way too repetitive (Look what you made me do/look what you made me do or are we out of the woods yet/are we out of the woods yet) or just plain awful (everything about I Wish You Would). I prefer her working alone or with the Martin/Shellback combo.
I wish I had told her not to work with him when I was in Loft 89. Then I would feel better that I tried to stop her. lol.

After listening to it in both playing in the background and just giving it my undivided attention I noticed a curious phenomenon :
I felt the song was too short and ended too soon, the initially "meh" chorus has become almost addictive and I didn't want it to end.
The moment the song ended was when I started craving to hear it again.

That lyric video is cute. Khan seems like her go to guy, nothing wrong with that.

I think Adele had a bigger lead with Hello. The lowest Kworb's archive has for the #2 song at the time (Sorry) was 0.1797 That was impressive considering "Sorry" debuted with 277K against "Hello"'s 1.1 million. In comparison, "Despacito" only sold a paltry 83K with all versions accounted for to be #1 on Digital Sales.

This was a complete 180 from what I expected and I fucking love it. My favorite lead single from her for certain, also the sample lol I knew it sounded familiar

You know what, just heard it again with the lyric video and I'm on board with this. Again, the chorus could be better but the lyrics are pretty great.

I like it and how different the sound is for her. What I hate about the modern day music industry is artists aren't allowed to express themselves musically anymore (i.e, Rihanna's Bitch, FourFiveSeconds and Katy Perry's Chained). They have to stick to the same cookie cutter formula in order to get radio play. Instead of the audience letting the music grow on them like they did back in the day, artists are forced to go back into the studio and create some generic mess just to get a hit so they can get the album out(i.e, Rihanna Work). It does a huge disservice to the artist's creativity and catalogue. Had Beyonce wanted commercial success and hit records, we would have never got Beyonce or Lemonade.
