Taylor Swift is a country singer pop singer. This new song is just not her. It's obvious she's trying to be controversial to gain attention. It's also disgusting the timing of the release to keep Despacito from beating the record.I miss the Taylor Swift who sang Love Story and Teardrops on my guitar. The song would've been released at least a week earlier if it were for the assault trial, which I firmly believe is the foundation for this song. But, of course, people like to blame the victim - even if it's for arbitrary chart achievements. How on earth does Taylor's victim badge extend to chart achievements?

Selling faster than Shake It Off. It already sold 100k. WHAT "LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO" HAS DONE ALREADYIn the overnight—between midnight on the East Coast and when the iTunes store turns over on the West Coast—“Look What You Made Me Do” was downloaded nearly 100k times. That represents more than a 20% increase vs. the overnight for “Shake It Off,” Swift’s first blockbuster single from her previous album, 1989. “Shake It Off” went on to be downloaded 544k times in its first week. Indeed, “Look” will the first song in 15 weeks to knock “Despacito” out of the best-selling-track spot.

Have you been living under a rock since Shake it Off? Taylor Swift's last album to actually resemble a country album was Speak Now. There were a few country influences on Red but she's a full-on pop star now. And Taylor Swift IS controversial without even trying. Good for her to at least try to make some money off of it.

First song to sell +100k in a day since Can't Stop the Feeling! during its first two days. That's not a day then. First song to sell 100k+ in a day since Adele's "Hello" I would guess.

First song to sell +100k in a day since Can't Stop the Feeling! during its first two days. So she might actually get about 400k for first week if we compare to CSTF That alone should be enough to be #1 next week

Did Lemonade make CHR\Pop even...Top 10? Beyonce can't even payola a top 10 hit these days. Demi Lovato is more relevant than her.

Beyoncé had the third best selling album of the year, massive critical acclaim, caused a pop culture tsunami, won Grammy's and had a sold out stadium world tour. Meanwhile, Demi Lovato's grandmother forgot to call her on her birthday. Try again.

I think it was meant to say CSTF sold 100k on Friday then 100k on Saturday Hello must sold at least 100k each day of the week

I liked a few songs from her debut, Fearless was obviously pretty good and then she kind of lost me with Speak Now, but from Red until now I've pretty much loved all her stuff. I could have seen a return to country if 1989 had underperformed, but it's arguably her biggest album yet so... (All due respect to 7xPlatinum certified Fearless, but the singles from 1989 were easily bigger than the ones from Fearless). She'll probably return to country eventually.

Outside of diehard beyonce fans, a lot of people think she quit, most kids consider her an AC artist. Would be nice if she could make a hit again, but again, irrelevant to radio. Maybe she should call up Ne-Yo or something. #SMH

No, I follow the charts, sorry, but the only artist who really is a "thing" right now on radio is TS. Perry, Cyrus, Beyonce, ...is Britney even making music anymore, Gaga, BOMB CITY with latest releases to radio. Maybe they should contact Chainsmokers for a collab.

Beyonce pays pop radio dust and she's bigger (and better) than ever. Meanwhile no one even knows what the Chainsmokers look like. But cool for them to get those #1s!

How is the NYT very negative? In fact each reviewer didn't bother to even critique the song.

She is bigger than better than ever? Maybe physically speaking, yes.
Honestly, I don't think anyone can name one of her Top 10 hits in the past five-ten years. Oh well, maybe she can contact Train so she can scrape Top 30. Would be nice.

This is pretty bad in my honest opinion. The production seems more like a catchy jingle for a commercial than a big pop single, and the singing is just weird. Her pop singles have been very hit or miss for me - I loved "Style" and though "Blank Space" was pretty good, but "Shake It Off" is one of the most annoying songs I've ever heard. This one isn't annoying, but its just not good. It'll do fine because it has Taylor's name attached to it, but I don't think it would be popular if any non big name artist released this.
Still longing for her to go back to country music, when she was at her best.
