I'd really grown to like Swift in the past few years, but this lead single is weak. If nothing else Swift usually delivers with a strong melody, but not here. I also don't like her continuing to fuel the fire of feuds.

Song is already red on Kworb. Exciting to see how things pan out. It has the #2 song down to 0.07, that isn't very surprising (to me, at least). Sales are basically done so the fact it has sold 100K+ so far is great, and it still has a HUGE lead. According to Kworb, Hello went dark red only after 8 updates and didn't get the #2 down as far, so I'm not worried

I like it and how different the sound is for her. What I hate about the modern day music industry is artists aren't allowed to express themselves musically anymore (i.e, Rihanna's Bitch, FourFiveSeconds and Katy Perry's Chained). They have to stick to the same cookie cutter formula in order to get radio play. Instead of the audience letting the music grow on them like they did back in the day, artists are forced to go back into the studio and create some generic mess just to get a hit so they can get the album out(i.e, Rihanna Work). It does a huge disservice to the artist's creativity and catalogue. Had Beyonce wanted commercial success and hit records, we would have never got Beyonce or Lemonade. The main difference being BEYONCE and Lemonade are excellent. This is not. This is just a single that is arguably better than Formation, which was awful. If she chooses to lead her project like this, allow her. Don't make her have to go record another generic song or retool her album with brainless uninspiring tunes.

Beyonce can get a pop hit if she really wants to. Doubtful. Her music hasn't really resonated with anyone in quite some time.

The "ok ladies now lets gentrification" meme is the best. Why are her dancers segregated?

I'm of two minds on this song.
I enjoy the instrumental, its very interesting and different from standard pop track, and I love the pre-chorus. I think this is a very interesting song that takes some risks- which I can definitely appreciate. My problem is that the pre-chorus seems to build up to something huge, and just falls flat with the chorus.
I have no problem with rap/spoken word in pop songs- I'm a massive fan of Kesha. I just have a hard time with the build up and then let down. I had the same issue with 'Problem'. I do appreciate how in later repetitions of the chorus there is some 'distortion' in the instrumental (don't know how else to describe it), but in order for me to enjoy the chorus there would need to be something more- more instrumental, another vocal layer, whatever.
Anyway, I still enjoy the song overall- but for me it falls short of many of her previous singles.

I am crying with laughter at people saying Beyonce's music hasn't resonated in a long time, but then I remember that people are HARDCORE pop chart followers on here to the extent that literally nothing else matters, not video views, not critical loving, not even sales or pop culture popularity. Like, it literally only comes down to your pop chart peak and if that is the only thing you watch then, yeah, sure Beyonce's music isn't resonating lol.
It will be interesting to see how this does. It will obviously do somewhat well, but I feel like it is going to peak much faster and harder than something safer/more neutral like Shake it Off or Blank Space.

Beyoncé hasn't had a big hit since Drunk in Love like 5 years ago...lol True.. but all of Lemonade's 12 songs charted last year, with the highest 'Sorry' 'Formation' at #10. Sorry, I came on kind of aggressive there. If you were just stating your opinion then I apologize. But it sounded like you were saying Beyoncé wasn't relevant anymore so I had to say something lol.
