Idk I thought this would climb higher I know it climbed extremely fast in the first week but I thought it wouldn't climb as slowly as it does currently I thought Taylor would skyrocket to the Top very fast but that didn't happen Also, I have '...Ready for it?' way more often in my head than this The last line of your post is probably the reason why the song "seems" to be slowing down some. Yes artists have had 2 songs climb the radio charts but their usually not promoted to the same format in less than 2 weeks. lol. Something has to suffer a little. I know she's Taylor Swift but..... lol

I hope it being a promo single so far doesn't kill its chances (aka OOTW)

Ready for it is dropping too fast to ever reach #1. It MIGHT return to top 5 if there is a video at some point but that point must come exactly when the airplay is its highest. I'm starting to think that the proper second single is yet to be released.

I mean for a song that ISN'T even an official second single, even if it falls off the chart entirely now, it has done more than it was supposed to.

My goodness! I have a feeling that when all is said and done, her music video will reach 1 billion by Thanksgiving (maybe even sooner).

Reach either 1 billion, or thousands of crazy fans playing this nonstop because they think it will help her.
It is still impressive, but I don't think she's reaching 1 billion, and is she is, what a wasted opportunity for sharing a message.

Either it reaches 1 billion or crazy fans play it non stop? It won't be both? And what a wasted opportunity if it reaches 1 billion? It's not like she was given a blank slate and whatever she said would be watched 1 billion times. It will be watched 1 billion times (if it is) because people like the video. I am sure a "message" would have got a lot of views because it's Taylor - but never a billion.

"Ready For It" will end up monopolizing between the two and leaving "Look What You Made Me Do" leaking spins. It already is #24 and with a larger bullet. Not really much they could do to prevent radio jumping on a new Taylor song though really. lol

The bullet is collapsing. :sip2: Honestly though, every day I get a little more frustrated about what the hell they were playing at with 'Ready For It'. Did they know this would have an incredibly short shelf life and throw RFI out there as their contingency plan? Or did they think RFI was going to be a brief attention spot before we all turned attention back to LWYMMD? Because it's really starting to look like by releasing RFI they've screwed up the single they're actually trying to promote. I mean sure, #1 debut, records broken, three weeks at the top, blah blah blah - but come on. Surely they didn't intend for it to be over and done quicker than any of Katy's non-starters.

Do we REALLY need to have the "They may not be doing a traditional put all the eggs in one song's basket" conversation again?
The song has over a thousand bullet, just spent 3 weeks at #1, is going to be #2 next week, will be hanging around at the top of the charts until the album's out -- AND they have a second song getting a lot of attention simultaneously.
How about instead of acting like, AGAIN falling into the trap of "IF IT DIDNT REACH #1 AND STAY THERE IT WASNT A HIT" we expect that the team behind the current most successful artist in the world knows what they're doing -- especially since the release of RFI was deliberate.

Okay I forgot about it not debuting at #1, but the rest of my post still stands. And as for theflying, there's non-traditional and then there's just poor planning and this is still in the annoying position where it could go either way. :sip2:

Cutting off the full potential of this song, perhaps? By providing an alternative, they've left themselves open for LWYMMD to utterly implode and be out the door in a matter of weeks upon stepping aside from #1. How about giving it some f**king breathing room instead of risking it being killed off unceremoniously before the album's even out?

Whoever thought it was a good idea to release RFI as a promo just a couple of weeks after the release of LWYMMD should have been fired, because that was a marketing failure. They should have released the promo about a month or so BEFORE the album drop, not weeks after the lead single is just released. Because of this awful marketing strategy, they left the door open for LWYMMD to fall fast on sales, streaming, and fail to make the top 5 on radio as well. Which also leads for close competitors like Cardi B, Logic, Sam Smith, and yes I'll say it, Post freaking Malone to dethrone Taylor at #1. It'd have been much better to release a promo, or a second single a couple of months after LWYMMD was released and a few weeks before the album officially drops. I agree with pretty much everything Az Paynter has said, and he is right though, give LWYMMD some breathing room, don't just let it implode by releasing a new song months before the album even drops.

People are talking about the strategy like Ready for it can make LWYMMD implode. The truth is the strategy is way riskier because Ready for it could suck LWYMMD spins without ending being a hit itself.
But frankly, right now there's no reason to think both song will not reach the top
