Just want to test water here, but are there any interests towards a 40-song rankdown featuring indie/less known artists? It will include Texas country, southern rock, perhaps some singer-songwriter stuff and alternative country, and lastly some outliers. The songs are from last two albums of these artists so they are recent. Also the female:male ratio is 9:11 in case anyone is interested. My plan for the deadline is late June. Count me in...I've been hoping to see more rankdowns like this that include Red Dirt/Texas country!

Okay. I'm still balancing a lot of things on my plate atm, but upon receiving the news of Earl Thomas Conley's passing, I'll go ahead and announce that the 1991 Country Rankdown will be happening later this year (coming around August or September). I wanted to keep this a surprise, but given how quickly things change, I think it's appropriate with ETC getting his last hits in 1991, including a collaboration with the late Keith Whitley called "Brotherly Love". I also plan on launching the Alan Jackson rankdown some time around Memorial Day (give or take a couple of weeks), with the potential for an Alan Jackson album series, depending on the turnout. Keep in mind that no promises can be made at this point. I may even invite tim to jump on board, as well. EDIT TO AVOID DOUBLE-POSTING: I'd also like to officially claim album series for Keith Urban, Brooks & Dunn, and Tim McGraw please. I’m all for this ambitious effort but I do think this is quite an undertaking. Given the amount of time it would take to complete all of the above it might be appropriate to consider that in this effort there might be other fans who would like to or have considered tackling these rankdowns. Seeing that you’ve already committed to the Lady Antebellum album series and multiple rankdowns for the early to mid 90s I think that some of the other rankdowns should at least remain open to or available for those that might want to complete them. Anyways that’s just my two cents and again we all do appreciate your commitment!

bboat11 was gracious enough to give me duties for the 2010-2012 country rankdowns. No timeline on 2011 or 2012, but I plan on getting the thread started for 2010 in the next 2-3 weeks, since the 2008 one has gone by so fast lol. There would be a two month submission period, however.

After Tracy Byrd I'm thinking of continuing on with some 90's male country acts and rolling with a Clint Black rankdown next...any interest???

The way we all snatched up all the '90s females, it's probably about time that the males are getting their day ;) Glad you're here to do them! As far as '90s males are concerned, I have Toby Keith claimed. I'm not sure when I will get to it, but it will definitely happen. tim, maybe you could do a Tracy Lawrence one sometime too!

Super late to the party, but I've been very curious to see how a Clay Walker rankdown would turn out...
Oh, and by the by, apologies for the delay of the Alan Jackson rankdown, I have a songlist ready, but I've been too bogged down with things lately. I also haven't forgotten about Tanya Tucker, which I aim to get going some time this winter.

tim .indulgecountry sabre14 someguy castleoblivion26 LBTrocks Kanenrá:ke g8erboi zaclord 🌈 fearlessarrow Cody Wants Out... and anybody else who is interested in hosting country rankdowns. I have observed a problematic trend developing for quite some time, but up until now I have not done anything about it in hopes that it would sort itself out. However, as time goes by, it is becoming clear that the solution is not going to happen organically. The problem is that people are claiming rankdowns and then not hosting them. This is a major problem because there are rankdowns on the queue that people are actually really excited about, but they are not happening, and nobody is able to do anything about it. Therefore, I am going to be making a couple rules for the queue. Rule 1) From this point forward, if you wish to place a rankdown on the queue, you need to have plans of actually opening that rankdown within 6 months of the date you claim it. For the purposes of this rule, "opening" the rankdown will be defined as "opening the thread, posting the song list, and allowing people to start submitting". It does not mean that reveals must have begun. That's what the next rule is for. If you do not open the rankdown for submissions within that time frame, that rankdown will go up for grabs and another host can claim it. If you know that you will not be able to host it within 6 months, please wait until you have time to do so before you try to claim it. Some exceptions to that rule would be something like how sabre14 has the remaining years in the early-10s on hold. I feel that he has been making genuine progress towards getting them done, and he also has been doing a good job while hosting them, so he should be allowed to plan to continue with the series. Rule 2) All hosts will now have a maximum window of 3 months between when the rankdown gets opened, and when reveals actually start. (I will be loose with this rule, however. If the host is still very obviously planning to start it, but has to extend it a little longer in order to maximize participation, that is perfectly fine. This rule is mostly to establish a precedent for when we will define a rankdown to be "abandoned" so that another host can take over.) We have two rankdowns that I would define as "abandoned" right now. Starting immediately both the Kacey Musgraves Extras rankdown and the Rascal Flatts rankdown are both up for grabs. The Gretchen Peters rankdown is close, but I will cut castleoblivion26 some slack because he is still very much an active host and I trust that he will have a plan to get it done as soon as he has finished Suzy Bogguss. Rule 3) If you are hosting a current rankdown, you have 1 month from the date of the first reveal to finish all of the reveals. That might seem a little harsh, but I think it is very reasonable. If you cannot host a large rankdown in under a month, you should not be hosting a large rankdown. And if you are spending longer than a month on a smaller rankdown, you should not be hosting rankdowns at all... If a host spends longer than a month revealing their current rankdown, ALL of their claimed rankdowns on the queue will go up for grabs.
Notice that these rules are more time-based rather than quantity-based. If you are a fairly quick host who reserves a lot of rankdowns but actually hosts them in a timely manner, by all means keep claiming a lot of rankdowns! These rules are effective immediately. Time limits will start today regardless of when the rankdown was opened. If you have any rankdowns on the queue that you will not be able to start within 6 months, please let me know and I can remove them or make them available for other people. If you have any open rankdowns, please start reveals within 3 months of today at the latest. And if you are currently revealing a rankdown, please finish it within 1 month of today if you want to avoid Rule 3. Please note that these rules are not meant to infringe on how most of you host your rankdowns. Most people do a great job, and the rules are designed such that you can continue doing a great job without feeling hampered But those who fall out of compliance with these rules have been making the entire rankdown experience less pleasant for participants for a long time, and the goal is to prevent that from continuing. Thank you all

Also y'all, I just want to clarify that the point is not to discourage people from hosting rankdowns. Everybody who wants to host is still welcome to host! The point is just that people who host slowly don't get to keep a dozen rankdowns locked up on the queue anymore.

Hey y'all! Just a reminder that the Kacey Musgraves Extras rankdown and the Rascal Flatts rankdown are both up for grabs for somebody to take over as host! I'd like to get those taken care of ASAP, both for the sake of clearing up the queue as well as for the sake of everybody who already made a list If anybody would like to take either of them over, send me a message letting me know! If there are multiple people who are interested, I'll tell you who you need to figure it out with, and if only one person is interested, I will tell you to go for it :)

Hey, has anyone done a 2019 Country Rankdown of songs that have been released as singles during (see title) this year? If not and if it's alright with everyone else, I'd be open to hosting it! I know I just arrived as a member, but I've been following country rankdown threads (as well as the board itself) for quite a while now and feel as though I'd be able to handle it. (The only thing I assume I would have to figure out is how tabulation of people's personal rankings works?)
All in all, if I were host of the thread, I would open it for submissions around the beginning to middle of January 2020, which is not only about half of the 6 month queue limit, but also when it's very blatantly obvious (hence the beginning of 2020) that all 2019 singles have been released.

Howdy! We have not done anything like that yet, because typically all of the year-end rankdowns will start to appear in mid-December when the official Billboard year-end charts get published I currently have the claim on all the modern year-end country rankdowns (you will notice I have done most of the 2010s rankdowns, including 2017 and 2018 as those years ended). I recently gave up the early '10s for sabre14 to do, but I have still been planning to keep doing the current year-end rankdowns when the year ends. However, I must confess that I am doing some soul-searching about whether I actually want to do the year-end rankdown this year... So for now I will keep my claim to it, but I am happy to know that there is somebody interested in taking over if I decide I am ready to hand it over We can chat more about that in the coming weeks!

That's perfectly fine if you decide want to still host the 2019 rankdown! Perhaps a huge 100+ rankdown could prove too much if I don't learn exactly how the hosting side of a rankdown works first. We can definitely talk more in about it as December rolls closer around! And if I think of a smaller rankdown I'd be interested in doing that hasn't been taken I'll definitely give this thread a holler ;)

I've noticed that neither Luke Bryan or Luke Combs have their own rankdowns. Like, at all. (You'd think Luke Bryan would but alas, he doesn't even have a singles rankdown) That surprises me, and I've been kinda itching to do something about it. Would anyone be interested in a Luke Bryan album series? I feel like as soon as someone gives me tips on how to host a rankdown ( bboat11 I know I messaged you and said no rush and I mean that because I know how busy you are but I admit that I'm getting a bit antsy lol) I could get it opened for submissions within the six-month period, and by the time we rank WMYC, his upcoming album will have had to be out for some time, and I could maybe tack that to his album series as well. Also, Luke Combs would get started really quickly, especially considering that Album 2 is out in two weeks. Also also, I noticed that Miranda Lambert only has 1 album ( TWOTW) ranked. With her seventh album Wildcard out in a week from tomorrow, I was thinking we could get her other albums done and then rank Wildcard. Would that also be an album series, even if TWOTW would be missing? (Since it has already been ranked) Also also also, Shania Twain has a singles rankdown, but no album series. (I combed every inch of the rankdown list on page 1 of this thread and saw no album rankdowns.) I'd be down to host that as well if no one else is interested in doing so. :)

The thing is hosting a rankdown takes a lot of time and effort to pull off so I would say choose one single rankdown and see how that goes before planning any others. That is just my opinion on anyone starting to host rankdowns.
