COMING NEXT WEEK LeAnn Rimes results will continue! I have all the list from Kanenrá:ke and am gonna finish the reveals for him! Will be going out of tomorrow until next Monday so won't be able to do it until then though but look for that to continue! Are you planning to start immediately, or do you think you might open it for another small submission window? It's possible we might be able to get 1 or 2 more participants at this point! (I mean, taylor is terrified wasn't even here when it started the first time!)

I can tag taylor is terrified and anyone else that wants to follow along.

I was looking at some of the old country rankdowns, and I remembered the OG rankdown, the 2016 Country Rankdown that happened about 3 years ago. Fun times, and I wonder if in the next year we could do a redo of that rankdown, because posters have since come and gone, I imagine a lot of tastes have changed since then (some songs growing or don't hold up quite as well as they did 4 years ago), not to mention new posters with unique tastes to contribute.

I'm glad you brought this up, because I have actually been thinking about redoing the 2016 rankdown! For all the reasons you mentioned, but another big one is that gravey used the airplay chart exclusively to make the list, but we have since started adding Pulse favorites that otherwise didn't make huge waves on the airplay charts, getting rid of songs that show up in multiple years, etc.. So like, "Forever Country" was never represented in a year-end rankdown, Martina's "Reckless", Cassadee Pope's "I'm Invincible", Jana Kramer's "Circles", etc. It's a year that only feels like it was half-represented compared to others, if that makes any sense. I am generally against the idea of redoing any of the country year-end rankdowns quite yet, but I think 2016 might be an idea that people could get behind! I am thinking I want to give sabre14 a chance to finish 2011 and 2012 first, but I would love to redo 2016 before we try to tackle any of the potential decade-end stuff :) Anyone else have thoughts on that?

I will say "I Am Invincible" is a clear cut 2015 song (it's entire chart run was in 2015). But yeah so many singles that year got the shaft from the 2016 country rankdown (Maddie & Tae "Sierra", Lauren Alaina "Next Boyfriend" I think, Cassadee Pope "Summer", Mickey Guyton "Heartbreak Song", Lindsay Ell "By The Way", Jennifer Nettles "Hey Heartbreak", Brooke Eden "Daddy's Money") Sidenote: Holy hell at the amount of female releases because 2016 in country music was probably one of the better years for women.

I think the top two of 2016 Country rankdown re-run will remain the same. Record Year probably won't do that well though. Also don't forget Brandy Clark's Girl Next Door and Love Can Go To Hell among great releases in 2016!

I’d much prefer to redo the 1997 Country Rankdown before even attempting 2016...and I think castleoblivion26 has previously mentioned coming back around to this one as well.

Oh, why would we redo 1997? Just to potentially get more participation?

Oh wait, gravey used the Hot Country Songs chart exclusively in 2016. Ew.

bboat11 I had wanted to redo 1997 Country for a couple reasons. Mainly the same reasons as you mentioned for redoing 2016 Country. New participants and there were songs not included that should be included. It was also my first rankdown so I'd like to do a better job with it. That being said I still have 2000 & 2001 Country to do and I'm gonna get those 2 done before I ever sit down to redo that one. We shall see if it happens in the future.

Within the next week I'm gonna open the next 2 Pam Tillis albums. I'd also like to open up Album rankdowns for Brett Young's 2nd album and Ashley McBryde's Girl Goin' Nowhere album (that is if no one objects to me hosting that one)

Need a rankdown for Ashley McBryde's Jalopies & Expensive Guitars as well. I think I'm gonna do what I did with the Brothers Osborne with Ashley so we can get that and her first album done. Gonna try and open the 2 Pam Tillis albums tonight (Every Time & Thunder and Roses are next!). Those will be due in April. I'll probably have Brett Young's album due in the beginning of May, with Ashley's album and EP due mid to late April. End of May I'm gonna shoot to have 2000 Country due. This does mean I'll likely take a break from Patty and Lee Ann until June. Trying to get these done cause I also had planned to do Kip Moore's Slowheart album at some point. I should wait to do Ashley McBryde but I'm kinda surprised they haven't been done yet and with her new album coming out I want to get them done! If my current plans work out with no issues (which NEVER happens lol) when we get to June I should have the following rankdowns remaining to do: The Wilkinsons Series 2001 Country Kip Moore's Slowheart Patty Loveless' The Trouble with the Truth & Long Stretch of Lonesome Patty Loveless' Strong Heart & Mountain Soul Patty Loveless' On Your Way Home & Dreaming My Dreams Patty Loveless' Sleepless Nights & Mountain Soul II Patty Loveless Extras Patty Loveless Album Tracks Patty Loveless #1's Pam Tillis' It's All Relative & Rhinestoned Pam Tillis & Lorrie Morgan duo albums Pam Tillis Extras Pam Tillis Album Tracks Pam Tillis Singles Pam Tillis #1's Lee Ann Womack's There's More Where That Came From & Finding My Way Back Home (this album is on youtube) Lee Ann Womack's Call Me Crazy & The Way I'm Livin' Lee Ann Womack's The Lonesome, The Lonely, and the Gone & Extras Lee Ann Womack's Album Tracks Lee Ann Womack's #1's I was gonna do Pam Tillis' 80's Pop album but only 2 songs are on youtube and the album is not available on streaming so unless that changes I'll just include those 2 songs on the extras rankdown.

I have strongly been considering a Dixie Chicks album series, if anybody is interested in that! With them releasing a new album this year, the timing is perfect!
If y'all want me to do that, it would still be several months out, because I want to significantly lessen what I am putting onto peoples' plate before I add anything else. Like, maybe start in May when their new album comes out, and then by the time we've ranked all their other albums it should be just about perfect timing to rank their new one :)

Like, maybe start in May when their new album comes out, and then by the time we've ranked all their other albums it should be just about perfect timing to rank their new one I am all here for the Dixie Chicks to get an album series!!! The new single is great; I just got the chance to hear it and I've spun it 5 times already!
While we're on the subject, I had a few new ideas for rankdowns--one of them based on my personal chart (i'll get to that). Now these wouldn't happen for several months of course, once again to lesson what gets shoved down y'all's throats, but if nobody objects, I was thinking of these: 1. Darius Rucker singles rankdown (should I go ahead and include his Hootie & the Blowfish albums into these as well?) 2. Luke Bryan singles rankdown (he might be hit or miss to some but his career does have some gems!) 3. A miscellaneous rankdown based off my personal chart's 2020 year-end. I'm currently considering one of two ways of doing this one: every #1 single that I charted in 2020 or the Top 50 songs of 2020 that my personal Crownnote leaderboard keeps track of. This would be billed as House of Underwood presents: Carrie's 2020 Year-End Rankdown or something of that nature. It would also be an all-genre-encompassing rankdown, as my chart is an all-genre chart.
Again, those wouldn't be opened for quite some time (especially the personal chart RD--it's a year-end lol), as I am working on a few other rankdowns and if anyone's interested I'm actually gonna head over to pop soon and open an Adele rankdown! So for what I'm confirmed to host, here is my plan so far: 1. Maren Morris GIRL (submissions closing tomorrow, revealing during spring break) 2. Luke Combs: What You See Is What You Get (due March 27) 3. Jake Owen: Greetings from...Jake (due May 2) 4. Jon Pardi Rankdown (will open likely in the summer with all three albums having different due dates) 5. Shania Twain Album Series (I've actually had this on the queue since October so in keeping with the rules this will have to be opened in April, but the first album will be due likely in June)
Let me know what you think of all that as I don't want to overwhelm y'all!

Personally I don't really want to rank all of the Hootie & The Blowfish singles alongside Darius' solo stuff, however neither the band nor he as a solo artist have THAT many singles, so... It looks like he has approximately 18 and the band has 15. Maybe two small concurrent yet separate rankdowns, like what someguy did with Wynonna and The Judds? Edit: Also I'm totally here for a Luke Bryan singles rankdown! We might as well start diving into the more modern artists one of these days, and it would certainly be interesting to see what we think his best hit is! I have been considering doing Blake Shelton myself, but he just keeps releasing new hits so quickly there hasn't been a good time

I'll take another look soon through the Wynonna/Judds thread to see how he did it and figure out how to implement that kind of strategy. Side note: I find it funny that across six solo albums Darius doesn't even have 20! And as for Blake Shelton: I'm here for it, whenever he decides to slow down enough for you. Meanwhile on the other hand, Luke was saying how he wants to start releasing more music to fans faster, so he's gonna end up needing a 2.0 down the line most likely! But he can deal with me, cause once it gets underway I ain't looking back. PS: For those interested...I've posted in Random Thoughts that Adele's rankdown will be opening soon...and it'll probably open in April. None of you have to participate of course if you don't want, especially since Adele isn't a country artist.

Regarding the Dixie Chicks, I am letting tim take the album series :) That will allow me to focus on starting Terri Clark soon, since I've had her on the queue for far too long now! I'm planning to finish Faith completely first, and then I can add Terri in without adding to y'all's overall rankdown workload!

taylor is terrified For Adele, will you do a singles rankdown, a discography rankdown, or three individual ones (one for each album)? Just curious, I will definitely participate no matter what.

I barely missed the Terri Clark singles rankdown so I'm excited for an album series! I love just about everything I've ever heard from her. As for the Chicks, YAYYYY! I was really hoping they hadn't been done yet. @tim, can't wait! Literally the only Hootie song I know is "I Only Wanna Be With You" so if it's just a Darius singles rankdown, I'd be fine with just their signature song used. 😂 The main album rankdown I'm waiting for is Tim McGraws...

My original plan was going to be her entire career in one gigantic rankdown, but that has been proven to be a challenge apparently, so I'll just be doing her three albums, plus all the extras (live performances of songs she covered, "Skyfall," "You'll never See Me Again," "Water and a Flame," etc). They'll all each have separate due dates, and it'll all likely be wrapped up by the time her fourth album comes out, as it's due in September. :) And ClevelandRox a singles rankdown is the perfect opportunity to know new Hootie music!

Yasssss, Taste King!!! Terri is one of the most consistent albums artists I have ever heard, tbh. She is so insanely underrated. Her album series is going to be so much fun!! Those who are discovering her albums for the first time are in for a real treat Regarding the Tim McGraw albums, Cody Wants Out... tentatively put them on the queue a couple years ago, but I would absolutely be willing to take that over if he doesn't have time to do that! It would be perfectly logical for me to continue with him after I finish Faith. Orrrr perhaps YOU could do them ClevelandRox, as your introduction to the hosting world ;)
