I’d say do it too! I’d happily participate. I’m also doing a Trisha Christmas Rankdown too.

I'm seeing a lot of "go ahead and do it" regarding Dolly's holiday RD, so I'm gonna go ahead and officially add it to my plans y'all! I'm sure we'll all be well aware of each other's respective due dates for our rankdowns, so I don't see there being too much of an issue. Dolly's likely is the largest RD by far tho, since there will be 33 songs total.
I did count, and with Carrie, Reba, Terri, Alan, Trisha, and now Dolly...plus the New Country Releases holiday edition...that's already 7 Christmas rankdowns. Quite a lot, but with the year we've had it's needed so I personally don't mind it! Any others (and I already have another idea oops) would probably want to be held for the 2021 holiday however, but that's just my two cents.

So much for slowing things down the last two months of the year . Not to be a grinch, but that is possibly an overabundance of Christmas rankdowns. Those seven holiday rankdowns would be on top of whatever ones are being planned including Reba's Album Tracks, George's Extras, and the year-end rankdown for 2020. All the while we still have both the 1991 and 2012 year-end rankdowns which at this point I'm going to assume both will be extended further therefore encroaching onto the holiday themed rankdowns. If anything I'd say both of those year-end rankdowns might need to be moved to early 2021 which would allow for some more breathing room. That of course is just my opinion and isn't my call to make. I say this only because I think we're asking too much of participants and at some point we need to be a little more realistic and pragmatic. I get that everyone is excited to jump into the holidays (you can count me in on that), but if the goal to get as many participants as possible we're really only hurting ourselves. Again, I'm really not trying to be a grinch as y'all know that I'll be participating in any and all Christmas rankdowns! I just wanted to play devil's advocate here and throw my two cents into the conversation.

I haven't compiled the playlist for Dolly's and she was a rather last-minute addition, so I could also always hold off to 2021 if it'll help any!

tim yeah I'm gonna have to agree with you. There is no need for all these Xmas rankdowns on top of all the regular ones. It is definitely asking a lot to cram all of those into the last few months of the year, and Xmas comes around every year so there's no reason why some of these surely can't be spaced out and saved for next year. We tend to hold off on doing album RDs for new releases now, so I don't really think we should be in a big hurry to rank all of the new Xmas material. Some of them (like Carrie's), sure, but it's a bit much with all that is on the schedule.

On one hand it makes complete sense to do one for Dolly this year because she did release a new holiday album, however in turn it'll be a first time listen for everyone so because of that it might be best to hold off on that one for next year (although I assume you're incorporating old+new holiday music). I have heard a lot of good things about it so I'm looking forward to checking it out myself. The same goes for Carrie's new holiday release but I'm not about ready to dive into Christmas music just quite yet lol.

I definitely need refresher when 2012 year-end rankdown comes because it is open for almost half of a year already...I think sabre did reminders fairly okay so I don't know why the turnout for that rankdown is so low so far, especially considering that it's a recent year rankdown.

Turnout is low because it's almost 130 songs. Year-end rankdowns of 100 songs are already intimidating enough to tackle for most members, so anything more than that now is really pushing it I think.

I'll second what tim said, as well as the fact that the deadline has always been so far out that people have not had to prioritize it yet. There's a lot of value in a looming deadline! I am pretty confident that some people haven't done it because it's one of those "Nah, I've still got time" kinds of scenarios, lol. It gets passed up for the more immediate threats. Edit: I know that's at least why I haven't done it yet! Lol

And yeah, I'm pretty good with whatever happens with regards to the Christmas rankdowns. I agree with all sides so far. Something else to consider is .indulgecountry wants to host a Dolly singles rankdown soon (I imagine next year sometime), so maybe her Holiday one would make sense to come next year after we've finished her singles!

Oh no! Lady A released a Christmas album On This Winter's Night almost eight years ago and I'm very close to being done with the album series outside of Ocean, a collection of extras, and the top album tracks. :( Since there's a bunch of Christmas rankdowns slated for this year, I can probably forgo On This Winter's Night, but I think it'd be incredibly strange to do the latter three collections (assuming they'd be wrapped up by March of next year) and wait until mid-November of 2021 to revisit the album series just for a Christmas album. I...am probably gonna lose sleep over this y'all.

I don't see anything weird about doing their Xmas album next year; I promise that no one is really gonna care if there's a gap in there between their albums, and you shouldn't lose sleep over it.

And it'd be nice to have Tanya wrapped up while I'm livin' ... but yea, with Tanya+B&D+Lady A+1991 I'd say that looks like a full plate. And I'd really, really like to get around to the 1996 year-end rankdown as I've been holding off on doing that for over two years now so that you can get 1995 going.

Just a heads up for everybody... Since Lee Ann Womack's last album and the September 2020 rankdowns have both finished up tonight, we are down to just FOUR slots left before the next BotB/RotB rankdowns!!!! And presumably Brooks & Dunn will make it 3, since that rankdown is on the verge of finishing as well So fyi, BotB/RotB might be squeezing in before all the year-end stuff officially enters the equation... I will be postponing Terri Clark's Christmas stuff until next year, so that will be one less thing going on in December. We'll see how quickly some of the country rankdowns finish up in the near future, but it is very likely I could end up opening BotB/RotB in early November, and give you the entirety of November + most of December to do them. The year-end rankdowns are usually in full swing by the last week or so of December, with deadlines throughout January and February, so it would be pretty catastrophic if we tried to wait until after the new year, lol. Just something else for us to look forward to :)

so with Lee Ann's albums done we have the Extras rankdown and the Album Tracks rankdowns to do. I am gonna work on the graphics and finalizing what songs will be a part of the Extras rankdown this weekend so I can get that one opened. I may have it due in the end of Dec but I think I'll probably have it due in early January.
The only other rankdown I have open currently is the Anything and Everything shuffle rankdown that I'd like to make a monthly series so I am not going to plan to extend submissions at all. It will also remain only 10 songs for each one so it won't take much time to do at all so definitely hope to see many participate in those!
The Pam Tillis and Patty Loveless album series are on hold until January but I will probably open the next albums soon to lock in their dates and allow plenty of time to get them done.
Lastly I have the Songwriters rankdown series. We've done Gretchen Peters and Matraca Berg and I think both were really interesting and fun to do. The next one I plan to do is The Warren Brothers. I had a songlist completed but ended up opening a poll and made some adjustments to the playlist so I'll have that one opened soon as well.

I paused SHeDAISY partially because I needed a break and partially because there are so many going on and no one cares, so I don't see any issue with gaps between albums for artists. The break for Sara, Miranda, Shania, etc. is actually really welcomed because it gives me time to breathe.
Just my .02!

Quick update: I plan on posting a tiny questionnaire for Need You Now tomorrow, as well as an overall update on the Lady A album series.
Also, I'll set a brand new deadline for '91 Country: December 4.

Just wanna do a quick update in regards to what rankdowns are coming and how I plan to go about them as I just finished revealing the Christmas edition of the Anything and Everything Shuffle series.
Tonight I am going to open the January 2021 Anything & Everything Shuffle Rankdown which will be using my '90s Country playlist. I'm excited for that one cause I think it is an interesting mix of songs.
The next rankdown I have due is the Lee Ann Womack Extras Rankdown, which is due on Jan 1st. I'd like to stick to that due date since there will be a ton of Year-End rankdowns opening up shortly. Once that one is done we have just one final rankdown to do for that series which is the Album Tracks rankdown. As of right now I'd like to plan to have that one due in February so we can wrap that series up.
Next is the Pam Tillis series. Her next two albums will be It's All Relative and Rhinestoned. I'd like to have these two due either in Jan or Feb. Following that we have the two duet albums with Lorrie Morgan that I'm gonna combine into one rankdown and do that one concurrently with her album from last year Looking For A Feeling. After that we will have the Extras, Album Tracks, and Singles rankdowns to do so we are nearing the end of the line with this series and I want to try and finish it by Summer 2021.
Patty Loveless still has quite a few albums to do so I won't pick her series back up until after the Lee Ann Womack series is completed. What we have left for her is: The Trouble With The Truth Long Stretch of Lonesome Strong Heart Mountain Soul On Your Way Home Dreaming My Dreams Sleepless Nights Mountain Soul 2 Extras Album Tracks
I might mix things up a bit with the rest of this series as her next two albums we will do together but I think I'm gonna have us do Strong Heart and On Your Way Home together and Mountain Soul 1 & 2 will be together, with Dreaming My Dreams and Sleepless Nights being paired. Still early so we'll see how it all works out.
The last on-going series I have is the Songwriter series. I will be opening up the Warren Brothers one shortly as well. I have finalized the list but haven't taken the time to open it yet. I'm gonna shoot for a Feb due date for that one.
Also throughout the next few months I would like to do some one off rankdowns that I have planned to do for a while but haven't had time to do. The Ashley McBryde, Kip Moore, Carly Pearce, Brothers Osborne, Rebecca Lynn Howard, The Wilkinsons, and Brett Young albums will be done when I can fit them in. Those also depend on how many rankdowns other people have open so those might end up being held off until these current series are wrapped up. I'd also like to do an Alecia Elliott rankdown because I feel like she has a couple gems that are worth hearing (some not so great ones as well tbh).
Lastly, for a non-music rankdown I do plan on opening a Disney Movie rankdown series so I hope to see a large group of people participate on that one. Have not had time to do the graphics for that one yet but hope to do that within the next week. Not sure on the due date but I'll be breaking the series up into smaller groups so that it isn't too daunting for anyone!
