castleoblivion26 are you really going to be able to host 4 rankdowns per week for like the next three months straight? Lmao you're gonna be so sick of us! 😂 'Tentative' being the key word for a reason :kii:

Hi! I wanted to get y'all's opinion on something.
As you know, I plan on launching the Darius Rucker Rankdown soon, with a (tentative) due date of May 12. However, his latest singles "Beers and Sunshine" and "My Masterpiece" are apparently taken from his upcoming seventh album (sixth in the country genre), which is still being worked on. Should I push forward and open the rankdown ASAP, or just go ahead and wait until the album is out (mind you, we don't know how long he's been working on it lmao) and has enough time to push out more singles? Granted, with the way country radio is now, this rankdown would likely be postponed another year or so, which is why I'm really conflicted lol, as I've had Darius on the queue for quite some time now already.

If the album was already announced than maybe but as it isn't don't wait

Y'all, I hate to say it, but there are too many rankdowns. It's been a problem for awhile now, and more than a few people are frustrated by it. Something needs to change. There are currently 41 country rankdowns in the submission phase... Here is the host breakdown of those 41 rankdowns: castleoblivion26 - 12 taylor is terrified - 8 bboat11 - 5 tim - 3 .indulgecountry - 3 🌺CountryLineDancer - 3 HeyHeyHey - 2 lady𝓐fan - 1 sabre14 - 1 austin - 1 Kanenrá:ke - 1 Darkest Hour - 1 I don't want to impose any specific restrictions on how many rankdowns we're allowed to host, but let me just say that if you are an outlier on this list, pleeeaaase consider adjusting your strategy for opening rankdowns moving forward. People are overwhelmed. I am worried that we are going to lose motivation. I don't see anything wrong with opening a new rankdown as soon as you finish one if you have like 3-5 rds open at a time. That's how several of us have been operating our album series for years now without issue. But any more than that and we should probably consider letting our total dwindle a bit before we start throwing new rankdowns at people... Also, if you're trying to host more than like 4-5 rankdowns in a month, you are doing too much. I can promise you from my own experiences that nobody has enough time to do any more than that, and do a good job with everything, and maintain steady mental health, lol. I'm glad so many people are excited enough about hosting rankdowns to have like 6-month plans, but we need to be more realistic about what is actually achievable in the short term, lol. Also, having less rankdowns open will allow .indulgecountry to finally host his own rankdowns too!

bboat11 I've been trying to keep the rankdowns I have to a minimum each month. I do have a lot open but they are mostly albums so they are small and can be done quickly. The largest rankdown I currently have open for submission is The Warren Brothers one. I do also have the Disney Movies one, which isn't due until July If everyone would prefer I switch up my due dates for everything to spread them out through June I can do that and push everything else out to July on. I definitely do not want to overwhelm everyone, I've been trying to wrap up some long-term plans and feel like I'm getting there but do I agree we have a lot going on right now.

I don’t personally mind a busy schedule, but that’s because I don’t mind missing participating in some of it has to be.
However I do think having less going on at once would mean higher participation. Like if I had had nothing to do one night and the only thing open for submission that I hadn’t done was that Russell Dickerson album I may have given him a spin. But because there was always a Rankdown I’d rather do I never did.
Again I don’t truly mind because I just prioritize the Rankdowns I know if not want to miss.
Poor BBoat though haha

I just take breaks between hosting mine to build up the SHeSUSPENSE and it also gives me a break, and then I just choose which ones to do when the due dates fit my schedule or the artist/topic is a cant miss for me.
Agreed there are too many going on and has been for a while, but for album series etc if people just took a little break in between the albums we would probably be in good shape!!!
This isn’t directed at any one person.

Since there are so many rankdowns open I am going to adjust my rankdowns that I currently have opened to be due to the end of June, and adjust plans for beyond. My current July plans can definitely change but I'm going to try and limit the amount due in a week to 1 or 2 only, with very few exceptions. Hopefully this will help make things a little less daunting going forward. If everyone feels that this needs to be spaced out even more please let me know but with this plan we will be finishing up the Patty series in Sept and Brooks & Dunn in Oct-Nov. As always I try to keep my plans tentative because anything can change CURRENTLY (OR SOON TO BE) REVEALINGLee Ann Womack - Album TracksPam Tillis - Extras (Due: Mar 26th) Patty Loveless - Strong Heart (Due: Apr 2nd) Brooks & Dunn - Brand New Man (Due: Apr 2nd) Brett Young - Ticket To L.A. I will be honest, I've been feeling this way about the goings-on in country rankdown land since February--I have had to miss a number of rank downs in March because there was simply too much going on and I was too busy to barely do even one, let alone three that I really wanted to do that were all due on the same day. That in particular (multiple rankdowns due the same day, which has been going on as well a LOT lately) has always overwhelmed me. I will say that had I not been so busy, I would've had much of my open rankdowns done (particularly the Easy Does It and Now albums) already. Hell, I'd be on my way to revealing Shania's Extras by now. I too have had a long-winded far-out map planned out but quickly learned in this past month that plans are almost always meant to be broken (thought I learned that by making 2020 plans lmao). So with that said, I could space out Jon Pardi and have him as a regular album series instead of the whole set of albums in quick succession if that helps us all! If I did that, I'd literally only have as many open rankdowns as bboat11 does. I have also decided to scrap the Country Pride rankdowns I had planned and save them for June 2022. I've also decided since Luke Bryan will be releasing another single from his album (and will likely drop a sixth if "Waves" charts fast enough), I have postponed launching his RD as well. This means all I'll have for June onward (aside from Shania/Jake/Jon) are the Carrie Underwood Extras and My Savior RDs. I literally can't postpone her. I HAVE to open them in May and have them due in June, otherwise bboat11 will have to wait another 2-3 years to launch the Album Tracks, because by this fall I fully expect a new country album era to start from CU. As for what I had already had going on in February before March went haywire on me: Shania only has Now (due in two days), her Extras, and her Album Tracks to do, plus a music video RD at a later time, and then I'm done with her. Jake Owen has Easy Does It, Days of Gold, his Extras and Album Tracks and then I'm finished with him. So these two I don't want to press the brakes on (if I don't need to) because they're so close to being done already. I can space it out a bit better, however!
So here's how it would look from May onward if I made Jon just a regular series (quite better imo than the plans I had mapped far out): May 2021: Female "Flops" 2020 (May 8) Darius Rucker RD (May 12) Shania Twain Extras (May 26) Jon Pardi - Write You A Song/The B Sides (May 30) June 2021: Carrie Underwood - My Savior (June 9) Carrie Underwood Extras (June 16) Jake Owen - Days of Gold (June 25) July 2021: Jon Pardi - California Sunrise (July 1) TBA (still keeping this artist a secret ) - first set of two albums (July 9) Jon Pardi - Heartache Medication (July 18) Jon Pardi - Rancho Fiesta Sessions (July 21) Shania Twain Album Tracks (July 31) August 2021: Jake Owen Extras (August 6) Artist TBA - second set of two albums (August 13) September 2021: Jake Owen Album Tracks (TBA) Artist TBA - third set of two albums (TBA) As you can see, July would still be a bit larger, but only so I can get Jon and Shania out of the way by that time. However, by August I would wind up with only two rankdowns. Keep in mind that besides the May, June, and July 9 dates, these due dates are tentative, and will likely change by need!
I still made a calendar to see how this would look and to hold myself accountable; I don't want to overwhelm anyone so please tell me what you think of this revised calendar and I'll change things around even more if it would help even more!

As I started participating RDs quite recently, I didn't know having 40+ RDs in a queue is unusual. That said, it is true that it has been impossible to participate in all. I will just stick to hosting just 2 regular RDs from now on; 1. Contemporary Album Thread ~monthly (due every 22nd of month, currently Cassadee Pope)2. Canadian Thread ~monthly for albums, 1.5 month for year-ends (currently Lindsay Ell)While I currently have Global Country RD, I will only do this kind of irregular series when the # of RDs in a queue is low. So 2 regular, 3 max for me. Hope this will help the RD queue stay organized!

I definitely do not want to overwhelm everyone, I've been trying to wrap up some long-term plans and feel like I'm getting there but do I agree we have a lot going on right now. Yeah, that is definitely true. However, I think the biggest problem with all these album rankdowns isn't how long they take, it's the fact that the quantity prevents people from doing larger rankdowns. If there are only like 2 albums due in the same weekend as a year-end rd, for example, people can either get them out of the way quickly before tackling the YE, or they can do the YE first and then hurriedly bust out the album rds at the last minute. But then what if there are 5 albums due in the same weekend as a large Rankdown? All of a sudden those 5 albums are a much larger commitment than the two albums in the previous example, and it becomes impossible for some people to do all of them quickly and then also do the YE rd. So then you can see the problem if there are 4 albums due in one weekend from a single host, on top of 1-2 albums from multiple other hosts... Like, technically people should have no problem keeping up with that album load if they want to, but I can guarantee that there are people who are not starting the looming year-end rd if they are trying to keep up with that many albums for several weeks in a row, lol. Also, I just want to clarify that my post wasn't meant to single anybody out or shame anybody, nor is it a reflection on anyone's abilities as a host. Just something that we should all try to keep in mind as we move into the future :)

Here I go again with an adjustment. I've talked with bboat11 about how I should proceed with rankdowns going forward and I have an idea that I think might be more agreeable overall to everyone and I hope everyone likes this plan. If anyone takes issue with anything PLEASE let me know. This is all tentative and I can adjust to work with everyone. With this new schedule I'll only have 6-7 rankdowns due a month, with some of those including 2 albums from the same artist. This will get me to the same place as my original plan but spaces things out in a different way that hopefully eases things a little. The Patty and B&D albums that I have due for in May and June could be pushed back if that would be better for everyone. I am no longer going to do multiple albums due throughout a month like I did with Brothers Osborne previously and had originally planned to do with Ashley McBryde but I've changed those plans and while hers will still be kinda accellerated due to already being opened I'm gonna leave the EP due the beginning of May with the two albums due the second week of May. Then the last album plus Extras will be due in June, wrapping that series up. The last thing is I had wanted to open Rebecca Lynn Howard following the conclusion of Ashley McBryde and the only week that I could fit her in is the same weekend that the Disney Movies rankdown is due so I'm leaving that off as of now but will keep that as a consideration. Posting this again here because it's too important and rare of an achievement to just be buried in the Trisha Yearwood thread!
Oh wow! "How Do I Live" finished Trisha's Extras rd with a final score of 4.95 out of 100, and it has now unseated Martina for the highest-finishing (or most agreed-upon) rankdown winner of all time!!!!!
The top 5 now looks like this:
1. Trisha Yearwood Extras: "How Do I Live" (4.95) 2. Gretchen Peters Songwriter RD: "Independence Day" (5.21) 3. Martina McBride Singles 2.0: "Independence Day" (6.29) 4. Martina McBride Extras: "Concrete Angel" (6.88) 5. Martina McBride Singles 1.0: "Independence Day" (8.23)
Lmao Martina has consistently dominated the highest-finishers list, as you can see 😂 However, it looks like Extras rds in general are conducive to highly agreed-upon finishers. Must be because they usually have long lists, with just a couple fairly obvious winners.
The next two are:
6. Lee Ann Womack Extras: "The Wrong Girl" (8.93) 7. George Strait Extras: "Check Yes Or No" (9.57)

Ahhhhh I cannot wait!!!! bboat11 will be hosting that, and it will be coming likely very shortly after I've hosted the My Savior album rankdown which is coming very soon! I'll also be hosting the Carrie Underwood Extras RD, which will also be coming soon! And by soon, I mean due dates will be in June, so I'm sure the album tracks will come sometime this summer :)

Like taylor is terrified said, I will be hosting Carrie's album tracks rd. I am planning to launch it the moment the My Savior album rankdown concludes! (I have to wait 'til then so that I know which songs from that album to include, but I don't want to wait any longer because if she drops a new country lead single later this year we could be stuck waiting another 2-3 years before the next era is done before having another window to do an album tracks rd for her...) So look for it to start in June :) bboat11 will be hosting that, and it will be coming likely very shortly after I've hosted the My Savior album rankdown which is coming very soon! The Extras rd should be all of her officially-released recordings that were not included on her regular studio albums. So it should range from stuff like "Something In The Water" and "Little Toy Guns" to collabs on other people's albums like "Something Bad" and "The Fighter" to more obscure stuff like "Can't Stop Loving You" with Aerosmith or even her Sound Of Music recordings.

^ that makes sense regarding the Extras Rankdown! I don’t know why but in my head I just assumed songs like There’s A Place For Us and I’ll Stand By You, etc. would be on the album tracks rankdown...but they’re not on albums soooo yeah it all makes sense to me now lol 🙃

The top 5 now looks like this: 1. Trisha Yearwood Extras: "How Do I Live" (4.95) 2. Gretchen Peters Songwriter RD: "Independence Day" (5.21) 3. Martina McBride Singles 2.0: "Independence Day" (6.29) 4. Martina McBride Extras: "Concrete Angel" (6.88) 5. Martina McBride Singles 1.0: "Independence Day" (8.23) Lmao Martina has consistently dominated the highest-finishers list, as you can see 😂 However, it looks like Extras rds in general are conducive to highly agreed-upon finishers. Must be because they usually have long lists, with just a couple fairly obvious winners. The next two are: 6. Lee Ann Womack Extras: "The Wrong Girl" (8.93) 7. George Strait Extras: "Check Yes Or No" (9.57) LMAO Trisha's victory is already obsolete! Pam Tillis' "All The Good Ones Are Gone" scored a 4.38 when it won her Extras rd tonight, so she now snatches this rare crown for herself just days after Trisha snatched it from Martina! Congrats Pam! I'm honestly skeptical that anything will ever be able to unseat that one, unless we have a long rankdown where everybody puts the same song at #1...

When you initially posted about Trisha I wanted to post to just wait for Pam but then I wasn't 100% sure of the math and I didn't want to give away the results either so I didn't but yeah I'm not one bit surprised to see this happen. It'll be interesting to see if anything is able to unseat that in the future though

Question; I think this has been answered before but how do y’all find this out about what songs are the most agreed upon?

Question; I think this has been answered before but how do y’all find this out about what songs are the most agreed upon? So, most of the hosts like to calculate the average point value of songs as they are revealed. But since most rankdowns have different amounts of songs, the average score of the winning song is not a stat that can be directly compared from rankdown to rankdown. For example, "Blown Away" won the Carrie Underwood Rankdown 2.0 with an average score of 6.16, while "A Real Fine Place To Start" won the 2005 YE RD with an average score of 21.74, and "Little Good-Byes" just won The Whole SHeBANG album rd with an average score of 2.88. Those scores are obviously meaningless in relation to each other. So basically whenever a rankdown finishes, I always take the average score of the winning song and divide it by the total number of songs in the rankdown (and then multiply times 100). That action converts the average of the winning song into a 100-point scale. Once every rankdown has been converted to the same 100-point scale, they can then be directly compared with each other. In other words, "Blown Away"'s 6.16 gets divided by 30 because there were 30 songs in the rankdown, which equals 20.53. "A Real Fine Place To Start"'s 21.74 gets divided by 100 (lmao that rd was already on a 100-point scale because it had 100 songs), meaning it has a final value of 21.74. And "Little Good-Byes"' 2.88 gets divided by 11, for a final value of 26.14. Those 20.53, 21.74, and 26.14 values can now be directly compared with each other to show that Carrie's victory here was a little bit stronger than Sara's (no pun intended, lmao ) and quite a bit stronger than SHeDAISY's. Even though SHeDAISY's song had a lower average score, it's only because there were less songs in the rd. I don't really know what to call this stat, so I tend to say things like how "agreed-upon" the winner is, because that is kinda what it measures. But it is literally just the average score of the winner divided by the total amount of songs in the rankdown. Pam's rd just ended with a 1.40 for "All The Good Ones Are Gone", divided by 32 songs, which equals 4.38. In other words, if the "Little Good-Byes" victory had been in a year-end rd, everybody would have on average ranked the song just outside of their top 25. But if "All The Good Ones Are Gone"'s victory had come in a year-end rd, everybody would have on average put it just inside their top 5. THAT'S how insanely high-scoring Pam's victory is, lmao.

I'll also say things like "it represents how impressive a victory is" in addition to the "most agreed-upon winners". I truthfully just never know what to call that stat How "impressive" a victory is is probably the most accurate description I guess, because we can directly compare each winner with each other to see which victories are most impressive. Or "most decisive". Idk. You get the picture I hope It shows how impressive a victory is in relation to other victories, despite differences in rankdown size, by converting the average score of the winner into a percent.

Do we have an approximate date for when the Carrie album tracks rankdown will be starting?? I think Tay is hosting it right? Ahhhhh I cannot wait!!!! Like taylor is terrified said, I will be hosting Carrie's album tracks rd. I am planning to launch it the moment the My Savior album rankdown concludes! (I have to wait 'til then so that I know which songs from that album to include, but I don't want to wait any longer because if she drops a new country lead single later this year we could be stuck waiting another 2-3 years before the next era is done before having another window to do an album tracks rd for her...) So look for it to start in June This woman doesn't want her Album Tracks RD to ever open, does she
